Plenty to see and do here on multiple hiking trails. The Summit Trail to the top is a leg-burner at times but well worth the half-mile effort. Take your time to enjoy the views and the rock formation itself and you'll be able to make it. We also did the Loop Trail, which is about 4.6 miles around the outside of the Granite Dome and it offers various views of the dome from different angles, which was neat to see. Several other trails offer different experiences, too, but we'll have to check those out another day. This is a park we'll go back to. Note that you need reservations for timed entry and weekends are way busier than weekdays. Also, there is rustic camping available both near the parking lot and off of the hiking trails. Bring plenty of water because there is little shade anywhere. There are vault toilets along the Loop Trail. Also, watch for snakes, we had a rattler on the Loop Trail when we went. Plenty of parking but RVs would have a tough time maneuvering to anything but the half-dozen spots in the RV lot. Also note the closest gas is about 18 miles away in Fredericksburg, and there is little to no cell service in much of the park (for Verizon and T-Mobile).

My 7 yr old son & I have been here 3 times! Expect the tips of.your toes to hurt. Going down the dome. Bring an inhaler, if you use it! The summit trail should be done with many breaks, plenty of water & snacks. The loop trail is awesome. Very diverse terrain. Beware of going in caves during warm weather as there's spiders, lots of spiders. Truly a breathtaking experience! (14 parks hiked in local area currently) Texas is so rich in history. Well worth the read on history written on ERSP! Good luck, stay safe & have a great hike

This was my Valentine's day plan. We headed to Enchanted Rock and this place was absolutely beautiful. We don't always stop to notice what the world really has to offer, but when we do our eyes and hearts are opened and we become truly amazed. What a great place to go. The climb was breathtaking not only because of the views but also because I am a smoker and need to quit lol. Check it out! Great for a date, camping or even family fun
Traveling With Spice
Well worth a visit, this is our second time going to this park, first time it was really hot n humid, so couldn’t enjoyed much. Fall, winter, spring is the best time, I personally like going there during winter or end of fall, weather was super nice with high 60’s, nice breeze n patches of cloud here n there. Reserve your parking before, weekend are packed with people i guess. You need shoe, with good grips. I saw many people with walking pole or stick, if you are a beginner, take break in between and climb, take plenty of photos, view from summit is breathtaking. If you have more time you can climb to near by rocks too, very less crowd. While there are a number of different trails, they all require some amount of physical dexterity, so anyone with physical or health conditions are advised to stay on the lower trails as medical resources are limited in the area. Best time to hike is early morning to limit possibility of heat exhaustion. Drive to near by German town, 22 miles, very good vibe through the town, i like going there during Xmas time to feel the vibe.

Yes. Rather popular, especially on weekends, plan ahead
Check their website all the info is their but it most likely open
Yes, just after sunset in the southern sky on a moonless night.
$7 per adult, free for 12 and under. You will get a map with all the trails in the park with different levels of difficulty. You can take any trails you want.
I camped there, so the sunrise was always available. However, the sunrise opening is at 8.
Nope. But, you may want to check out Marion Sampson park just northwest of Fort Worth or the DORBA trail Cedar Hill SP.
I have been to E-rock with the boy scouts of America and I managed to scrape my knee up on the mountain. All I would say is bring a first-aid kit and you will be fine.. The cave is really hard so I would not go through.
Dogs are allowed around the rock, but not on the rock. (July 2017)
Moss lake information from Michael is 100% correct. Short hike and you have a small lake you can fish at. Catch and release might be the policy if I remember correctly.
It costs $ 7 per person, children 12 and under are free. Veterans are also free.
Its always better to call ahead. Don't wanna make a drive and then find out they don't have any spaces
Yep
Yes
Overnight camping is allowed, you can plan for it...and there are star gazing programmes too by the ranger....
Highly recommend to reserve online. There are sites close to the rock and some quite a hike away. I doubt you can secure any same day campsite.
Teresa Dietz is giving you an opinion, not fact. It's a state park that allows dogs on a 7' leash. We take our dog and he loves it. What an adventure for him. If you do take your dog, he should be athletic. Our friend took two of his smaller dogs and he ended up carrying them.
As early as possible. Especially with Spring break.
The parking is included in the price. 7$ per person. Any number of people can be in the car.
Technically you can enter anytime between 8am to 10pm. If you are going for day use, please leave before 10pm. If the office is closed pay by selfpay station. The trails closes 30min after sunset so better to start early.
There are several places you can make it up and down. We climbed both enchanted rock and little rock without taking the actual summit trails.
On top of Summit Trail. Plan to start hiking 30 or so minutes before sunrise if you want to catch it rise.
Better check with the park rangers, BUT.......it's certainly windy enough up on the "Rock!"
Park ranger that works there here! So the summit... It's 0.8 of a mile, so not very long buuut... I actually just hiked it for the first time today, was afraid because I have bad knees/asthma/post covid loveliness, and I would say if they have trouble with long distances then it's probably not a good idea. The last bit before the top of the summit is *very* steep as well. Like climbing 40/45 flights of stairs. We do have an interpretive loop with park facts posted along the trail, it's our shortest trail! We also have the loop trail, it's 4.6 miles but there's a neat scenic view trail offshoot about a mile out from the campgrounds, a bit of incline but not like the summit. Cool mushroom formations and boulders on the way as well. Oh! And none of the trails are paved, idk if that helps but thought I'd mention it. Hope you have a fabulous evening :)
Yes, just ask a ranger
We didn't have one there was hardly anyone there . I would imagine just call
Signs at the campsites say they prohibit car camping even if you have camping spot. Not quite sure why it's a rule
The summit of Enchanted Rock is great as well as the scenic overlook on the Loop trail.
As long as you set up a reservation, you can enter anytime while the park is open. I've gone the last few months for Milkyway photos and there has not been a 4 hour time slot for this park at all. I would check but I'm fairly sure the gates close at 8pm to all incoming visitors. You can however easily leave after 8pm once you are in the park. "Technically" you not allowed in the park after 10pm unless you have a camping reservation. I've seen quite a few folks there fairly late and based on the number of tents actually set up, I would highly doubt they made camping reservations so take that how you will. Milkyway photos have been fun over the last two months with fairly clear skies. July was the better month so far since it was visible for quite awhile and the sky was perfect up until Fredericksburg did their Independence Day fireworks.
No outside electrical to hook up to for camping or other use.
At this time, no
You can not set up a truck tent to camp over night. Only ground tents allowed
I was able to see 5 different trails, including a running trail
You do so through the Texas State Parks website. They are completely reserved through January 3rd, and camping books up several months in advance, especially for holidays. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-reservation-information/reservations
It does fill up quickly, especially over the weekends and during any "school breaks." I tried to go on a weekend w/out having a reservation and the park was full with a line of cars waiting to enter one at a time as a car left...the line was out of the park and all down the main road. I also tried to make reservations the wk before a "school break" and also the wk before a weekend and the morning session timeframe was already full both times! Try to make a reservation as soon as you can!
Paid $8 per person last month. Advance reservations were required.
You have to reschedule.
Yes. I believe so as well. I've always been able to do so in the past. Remember though: reserve well in advance. I learned the hard way.
E-rock camping usually books solid on weekends 3 months in advance.
It would be pretty hard with a wheelchair cuz it goes straight up we had to stop n take breaks plus took pics-there is another trail but u do have to cross couple streams --down the road from enchanted rock is a cross that could be gotten to in a wheelchair if someone is strong enough to push it is beautiful
yes open faced metal framed in a area with picnic tables
Black Friday yes, not sure about Thanksgiving. Try to make a reservation and see if it lets you.
Yes, but you will need the DD214. Be sure to apply for a park pass so you can get into all of the state parks
Camping is allowed; campers do not need to leave at park close of 10pm; that applies to day use only.
Yes, but they can only walk around. They can not climb to the top of Enchanted Rock
There isn't a fishable water source. If you want to fish try Guadalupe River to south or to the Llano River to the north on Hwy 16.
It's a good idea to call ahead. The park fills up especially on weekends. You can buy a day pass by phone.
If they are open
I believe they do. They're a regular Texas State Park so they follow all the same rules as all the others when it comes to military discounts for entries.
Call and ask
That depends on your health, plan on at least 2 stops if your healthy, so anywhere from 5 minutes for athletic types, and 30 for normal, and unattainable for others...
They also post regular trail updates to their Twitter account.
Depends on how long you planning on staying. Day hikes, water and good hiking shoes/boots will be fine. If you're staying longer, it's a different answer altogether. There are campsites, but no stand-alone structures, so you'll need camping equipment & food.
Yes
Not sure it is deep enough, if you mean the rock itself?
Yes...you have place for bus parking..right beside the office.....
No, but get there early. They close the park to non-campers when they reach capacity.
Nah don't need the poles
If they are I can assure you that they are fully committed in the event that you do get there and wait in line to get to the park ranger he'll offers you a voucher to come back at a later time if there is availability
The max amount of people was around 930 people when i went on Tuesday
I wore sneakers so yes. 2 yr. Old is doable but be prepared to help. I think there is a trail that is easier than what we did. We went up the side from echo canyon trail, which was shorter than going down to the summit trail and then going up, but it was very steep.
Buy a pass at any Texas state park and use it right away or call (512) 389-8900 to order a pass (plus shipping and handling)
You can buy a camping reservation to ensure entry.
My experience is that they are closed on Christmas day, but you can reserve a spot and stay through Christmas. I have camped through many holidays, but the office closed on those days. Some parks have a pay at the box honor system that you can submit a form along with a payment on hours/days that they are closed for business.
Yes, for several more weeks. You can go out there anytime for picnics, and hiking.
I am pretty sure they will be open. It is $7. If no one is at the gate, you can self-pay with cash.
