Beautiful house, awful history. Oak Alley Plantation is a must visit Oak Alley Plantation is outstanding and memorable place. The oaks are remarkable and the whole place including the mansion have lovely feel about it. The cottages were of a very high standard, well equipped and most comfortable. This plantation was like stepping back in time. Being able to view slave quarters, walk through the house and gardens and walk down the alley of oak trees was a fantastic morning visit. Plan 2 hours total if doing the house tour. The cafeteria/restaurant food was also very good.

I recommend getting the big house tour. It’s a different experience to hear the explanation and story from the docent. There were only 4 rooms we visited and can’t take pictures inside. There’s also a display with video about sugarcane industry in a different building. The lady in the ticket booth was so kind to move our tour up since we came so early after our swamp tour. If you’re hungry, there’s a cafe near the huts. The food is edible but not special.

Beautiful place! Our guide, Ann, was informative and a great host. The grounds are peaceful and picture perfect! We ate at the restaurant and it was delicious. We then walked across the street to see the mighty Mississippi River. Highly recommend!

, The Plantation is an hour drive outside of New Orleans.. Well worth The Visit to see a fully restored Plantation home.. Our guide Anthony was an excellent historian but historian regarding the families families that lived in this beautiful home. Additionally he discussed the impact of these families on the slaves that they own owned which was very insightful late for, and a very sad note on the history of our country. It is worth The Visit to see this estate and they have a wonderful restaurant that serves excellent local cuisine

Variety of uses: Sugar both brown and white, molasses and the left over squeezed cane was dried and compress to make soundproof boards and ceiling tiles-Celotex. Of course I forgot to mention liquor was also made from the sweet sugar cane.
If you have a car, just go to the address. You will get to spend more time going through the place than you will with a tour, and I only benefit of tour is you do not have to drive. The cost to get in are only $25 per person and there's AAA discounts.
You can also purchase a groupon and see two plantations in one trip.

They say it is. We didn't have any experiences unfortunately! We stayed in cabin 4 (which is where Brad Pitt stayed during the filming of Interview with the Vampire), the bar tender told us it is the most haunted. There's a journal in the cabin that has people's experiences of lights turning off and on and cabinets being opened and hearing people in the living room.
No. Not that I recall. The main rooms are furnished in a French style- as that was the origin of the original owner. But most of the furnishings aren’t original- but are from the period.
This is Oak Alley Plantation. Maybe you have wrong name. This is the place you want to go.
The answer that was given was the Old was in disrepair. Nothing was said about hidden treasures
They are registered with the National Park Service, National Register of Historic Places, and National Historic Landmark. Oak Alley was last owned by the Stewart's. Josephine Stewart founded the Oak Alley Foundation who now owns the plantation and opened it to the public. I definitely recommend visiting! https://www.oakalleyplantation.com/about
Yes. In the gift shop
Yes there is, very lovely lady does work there. I know her. 💛
Don't take a tour go there directly to the plantation there's people there that will give you tours and there's so much information so much history you can spend a good two three hours depending on how much time you want to spend there cuz there's so much to see.
I don't recommend this place. Whitney Plantation is alot better. The Oak Alley tour is very rushed and not worth the money
You have to pay. You can see the trees from the road.
You can drop by for a tour
Yes, there is a Bed & Breakfast there. Food in restaurant is very good.
You can buy the tickets when you get there
45 mins to an hour drive. But well worth the drive.
