History of this house MI
It's only free from the the parking lot up to the bar in the back of the property, country store and restaurant. There's a sign in front of the slave quarters that you need a ticket to walk through there. There's an employee standing in front of the path next to the ticket booth that will tell you that you need a ticket. The employees take your ticket if you enter the front of the house for a tour. If you drive in front of the house over the embankment to see the river that is free, and you can walk down it to see the front of the house.
Actually, yes. You're supposed to purchase the tickets but they only check them if you want to visit the house.

Can I just walk up the tree lined path for free or do I have to pay for the tour to do that?
