Great place to go when in South Alabama. Great restaurants, lots of things going on. Part of the amusement park

If I make a trip an hour out of my way to go to a specific store (cough, cough Spice and Tea Exchange), and there is a sign on the door saying they will be back in 10 minutes....no problem. I'll just walk around and browse other storefronts. Well....that didn't take long. Mostly vacant shops and signs about being closed for various reasons. I get it, we all get it - labor shortages are real. So, back to the bench in front of the store to wait. After an hour total, still not back from the 10 minute break. So, one star for you OWA Downtown (mainly because I'm still mad I didn't get my tea - make sure you are actually open when you say you are). Kind of like west Texas, nothing to see there but loads of vacant space and the occasional old sign...

Lots of shopping and dining options! Lots of picturesque places! Many neat things to see and do. They kids also got to see Santa for a long time. It was a good visit, not rushed. The kids even got a free prize - ornaments and pictures frames they can decorate. Updated: went back six months later and still just as fun. Not crowded. Most shops not open. Some restaurants not open. Many shops and restaurants are not kid-friendly and don’t really make sense (out of place) at an amusement park.

Neat retail development with a good offering of shops and restaurants. This is a pretty new development, so there weren't many hotel or housing options in the nearby area. When we were there most of the stores were closed, but I'm sure during the weekends it's a great stop!

At the Wharf, not OWA
We received our vaccines on Feb. 2 at OWA. They were giving them on Tuesday & Thursday of each week. Double check under Alabama & Baldwin County & Foley.
Yes Sandra it means big body of water , if you haven't gone there yet it's a fun place I suggest Thursday late afternoon there's a show in the downtown area called GLOWA its a must see !
