The workers are so short patient. And all I wanted to ask was a question about my money in the pension. I’m waiting 7weeks for an application summary about buying back some time and I’m still waiting. I truly dislike going or calling the NYCER office. Calling is a hour or 2 you’ll be on hold
Mary Doherty
Can't believe after 5 yrs. my pension is on time.Must have new hires there.Wow!
Mohamed Sagaff
I called from overseas and put on the queue which I have no problem with and being told it's going to take 30-40minutes is quite alright but after an hour & ten minutes no one responded. That I have an issue with

Which is the phone number of the office of Labor Relations
Recurring increment payment
You should check it out with NYCERS
You decide if you would like to leave your pension to your loved one when you retire. If you elect to receive the Maximum Pension allowance on your Retirement Option form, you are saying that you do not wish to leave your pension to your loved one.
No, only Federal
8-12 weeks, u can request an update if it is not done within 3 months
Thx for your help
You have to check with NYCERS
I decided to wait. I was #62 😂 But I got what I needed. All is well. ☺
Any time
If the employee is eligible for retiree benefits at the time of death and the spouse is the listed beneficiary, then yes.
Any time you have a chance you can go do it
Dont think so
Tier 1 and 2 members may take out two loans in any 12-month period. Tier 3, 4 and 6 members can take out one loan in any 12-month period.
No you can't by default I think it's only 3.5%. If have Deferred Comp you can change the amount with them.
Yes you can walk in and speak with personnel on the ground floor. You can't go upstairs to speak with casemanagers unless they permit it or you have an appointment.
Yes I had my retirement application interview on Tuesday 1/4/22. It is by appt only had to call. Not sure if you can just walk in. You can call and get info over the phone. I called several times and then my benefits coordinator told me to make an appt.
The problem is. That you have to remain on the line for almost 45-55 minutes before anyone answers. Once on you could either ask your questions os make an appointment. But appointments will be at least 2-3 months in advance. Hope this helped.
Surprised you haven't signed up for direct deposit shows up like clockwork last day of month. Why would you want to go through all that stress wondering when check will arrive in mail.
Can change online on your MyNYCERS account
Good question I need 2 find out myself lol
I'm not sure its nycers from retirement, loans and other things
If you're a service retiree and under age 65, it's limited to $35K per year in public sector inside NYS and no limitation in private sector. May gather further info through their website.
If you are in the ch96 55/25 plan and not qualified for disability pension, you will be eligible at age 62 to collect service pension. It you are in ch 96 57/5 plan, eligibility is at age 57.
You can walk in but no one will let you upstairs without an appointment. Call first
Being off payroll. You must be actively on payroll in order to qualify. You've also had to have waited at least one year from your last loan. One loan every 12 months. If your loan is in default you cannot take one.
same here been calling for 1 1/2 months still no call back..let people work from home..they take advantage
You might have to print it off line, if you didn't get it already from your employer
Because of the Pandemic, Covid-19, many official workers are working at home to prevent the spread of the virus. Also, it's a limited number of employees they chose to answer the phone. Unfortunately, because of so many people are calling with regard to their questions they have for retirement, thus, it takes a long time for a member to answer the phone when it rings. Sorry for the inconveniences.
Go to office, and ask or try going on line..

No. Nycers will factor the remaining loan amount into your monthly pension payouts when you retire.
I'm also trying to apply. I have the same issue. They won't pick up the phone.
I would like to know did you get the medical forms that I turned in last week Wednesday
YES! Begrudgingly thru Customer service 😫 Must call the # and prepare to be on the line for an hour or more to ask for an appointment
Customer service
Not sure. Everything done online or by ☎
Reduction depends on your age. It should approximately be $25-$30 a month for 5k
Mynycers.org
U can join NYCERS online @Nycers.org and u will receive the welcome package with details of your retirement plan based on your title ans tier
Your contribution based on your plan and it is fixed percentage of your salary. U can, however, increase your TDA ( 401K, IRA, 457) contributions after 50. TDA is not NYCERS, it is usually NYC Deffered comp. Or Prudential
Online or mail in the forms
July 1, 1973
Try to see if you can select the document, copy it then paste it in a word document; then print.
When you enter, from street, there will be elevators to take you to mezzanine. There is also parking next door.
if you come off the books before the 3rd of the month, you get your first adjusted check the beginning of the month after the 3rd the following month
Not sure of the timing. I retired on disability pension. After I was approved, got my retroactive check end of December and full check in April. Sorry could not be more helpful.
Employers are required to mail 1099R forms out by January 31st.
No, NYCERS will be notified about agengy transfer but keep an eye on your payroll deductions for pension contributions. If no contribution is being taken out after the 2nd paycheck from transit, call NYCERS right away to avoid deficit on contributions
I want to know how long after you retire and your last day is 12 2 2019 when does the person get there first check
December 2
1.66% x 17 = 28% of final average salary. At 20 years you get 2% x the number of years or 40%. It keeps increasing with the number of years you work. Do make a trip to NYCERS to get an estimate. They are very helpful. Hang in there.
I believe between the 29 to the 31
From what
You need to go to the Social Securiry Office and check out your benefits. If you worked for the City Agency then you should also go to 340 Jay Street that's downtown Brooklyn to see what your Retirement Pension Benefits are.
Best to call them. I would go on line to the NYCERS site
Call or go in to speak with one of their personnel. They see you very quickly.
When it comes to guestons/answers you have to reset that part take your time and look real closes for the details. And when you come out of that Your you f to have to make sure that the right password and user name is right. Good luck
Beneficiaries Benefits
Sorry don't have a cue
Glad to answer your question. I was tier 4 I had the 5/57. I retired 7/2/2014 on my 5th year I got Cola. The 10/57 gets it to. The tier 6 has the 25/55 they have to wait 10 so it will be age 65
Call then I forgot it might be on your check it's 6 digits
Its 10 years if you do under 5 years I think they give you your money back.
You can do the figures on NYCERS. Site or go down their. I gave them a year notice. All you need is your members number. I been retired 5 years
You can use your membership number to get in the nycers site or call NYCERS for the number
Your a is very open but I will try to give you some tips. You can work while you collect your pension. Work for private and federal you can make all you want. If you work city and state your only allow up to $30,000 a year or Nycers will cut your check off
No sure call nycers
I don't understand your question. If you need advice from me I will give you what I got. Break it down to me like how long you been on the job . are you in the 5/57 or 10/57 Or 25/55?. When you want to retire. I retired with 5/57. I did 11 years of service age 57 with all my benefits
Don't know you have to call NYCERS
How many years do you have in service? You know you only need ten years vested. Find out what your tier is mine was 5 years service / 57 years old I did 11 years service and was 57 years old got all my benitfits. If you desire to leave without doing the years and age you need at lease 10 years vested. But remember if you leave with out your medical it cost a lot I pay $5.00 for my blue cross and fyi. You would have to wait until you get your social Sercurity at 62 then wait for the medical at 65 then pay about $135. Good luck I get blue cross and ghi
I came in 2003 I was in the 5/57 tier 4 I need ten years to be in vested
The best thing is going directly to Nycers. They will answer all yours questions
Yes, NYCERS only cares about how old the beneficiary is
Create an account with your pension # and u will see award letter option on the left side of your account home page
The pension could only go to the wife if he left an option to her like 5 year option or 10 year option or life option That means he get less on his pension but she gets the option. Now they have insurance not much it could be about $14,000 if he has your name on that then claim it I would call NYCERS asap. Then check to see if his union has death insurance for him that could be about $5,000 to $30,000
Nope... you are no longer contributing into the pension as a retiree, therefore no funds for you to borrow from.
Visit NYCERS.org, download F380, which is the authorization for electronic funds transfer form. You may also call and request to have it faxed or e-mailed. You must provide a voided check or a customized letter from your bank for EFT purposes. The form takes about 30 days to process once received.
If you remember joining via application and never withdrew or got a refund of your contributions, then you most likely are vested...meaning you have a right to receive lifetime monthly pension checks. If you can locate an old paycheck stub you can find your 6 digit pension # there and call them up. Or visit at 340 Jay Street in downtown Brooklyn with a valid photo ID to get your member # and plan information, you can also wait and get a benefit estimate there. Also visit nycers.org to create an online profile (once you have your 6 digit p# that is)
U get 60% of your salary (Final Avg. Salary)
They will send you one that tells you that your pension is for life. But you can go to NYCERS on line and down load the letter and print it out
If you want to know if you're listed as a beneficiary, then provide a letter by mail or in person simply stating your name, contact information and whether you are listed as a beneficiary. Also include the name and pension number of the member. If you have not done so already, report the passing away at NYCERS.org and provide the original death certificate asap to get things going
The first year is the full amount. After three years it's go down to 1/2. After that it stay to minium . ex: 74,000 go to 34,000 then to 14,000. The first or second person goes by percent 75% first person 25% rebound personal or any way you want it.
On the lelf side on your pay stub. 6 digit number
If you have your online MyNYCERS.org profile set up, there is a benefit calculator there, it will give you an idea of what it is based on your current years of service up to 2018 (at this moment). If you want an estimate further out, then submit a request in writing by mail or in person. If you don't mind waiting at 340 Jay Street Client Services Center, grab a tkt to sit for a 30 min. session with a retirement counselor.
A better question may be: How do I know if my years of service are up to date (this prompts the agent to peek into the svc area of your account). This may depend on your retirement plan. For example, if you are Transit with comp time, you would just submit proof of comp time served so NYCERS can add this in. Also Buy Back may be something to inquire about when phoning in with your 6 digit m#
If you are retired. You can go on the NYCERS web site and look on the lelf hand side were it says checks when you log in with your members number or your pension number
I think you need 5 years invested to get anything I came in 2003 did 11 years I had the 5/57. I retired got all my benefitsthe older pension were 30/62 or 25/55 which some people bought I to. Then they had 10/57 the new one is 25/55which one you had?the most I THI K you can do is get what you paid into it
Depending on your retirement date 4-8 weeks. ( if u retire on 03/01, or 03/02 or earlier , u will get a check in the mail end of March, any later date end of April)
Look into becoming his POA or Guardian first (if he is disabled), then provide proof in original documents to NYCERS by mail or at 340 Jay Street in downtown Brooklyn. If u visit NYCERS.org there is a Power of Attorney form (F204) there, or you can call them and ask to have one faxed or e-mailed to you.
There is a link that say reset user name or password
You go on line to NYCERS on the menu you can download the award letter
To get a copy of my 2018 w2 do can i get it on line
You can mail form F380 ( attach a voided check or bank statement)
Visit MyNYCERS.org, log into your profile and download it there. This is the quickest way to get it.
Contact the financial institution (Bank, Deffered comp. etc) that manages your IRA.
You can pick them up in person, it will only take few min. No need to call ahead of time
New York City Employees’ Retirement System 30-30 47th Ave., Suite 1010 Long Island City, NY 11101
Online and submit form F290
You can go online to www.nycers.org and fill change address form. Or you can call NYCERS call center and form will be mailed mail to you, or you can visit customer service and fill change address form there.
NYCERS does not manage ROTHs, inquire with a financial institution that offers this finance tool
When you apply for a loan with NYCERS, the system automatically calculates the repayment schedule not to exceed 5 years. If you have registered your MyNYCERS.org profile, you can use the loan calculator to indicate the amount you want taken out of each paycheck. The calculator will also tell you if the new loan is subject to taxes. If so, you will get your full loan, minus the $30 fee and a 1099r at the end of that year (unless you opt to withhold taxes at the time of the loan). You can make additional payments toward your outstanding loan balance at any time online by clicking "Make a Payment," on the left side of your profile. Also, if you wish to make a lump sum payment, take a look at the "Payoff Amount" which gives you the total balance MINUS 2 payroll deductions. Which means you can expect just 2 more payroll deductions after submitting the payoff amount.
Depends on how much you made over the years. And if you had. A pension 5/57 (at lease 5 years service and age 57) if that's so you fall into both you have 14 yrs service and age 58. You get your benefits and pension all you have to select the option 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. Might be this: Example option 1 you get all of your pension and leave none for your wife. Option 2 is 5 year option etc
Must inquire with the IRS or your state of residence
A, C or F to Jay Street or 2,3 ,4 or 5 to Borough Hall.
Yes
Benefits cease once the designated beneficiary (named by the pensioner at retirement) has passed on
Our pension comes from the city
Never heard of it Gary. You know I had the 5/57 I came in 2003. I been retired for 4 1/2 years never heard of it
I m afraid not. You would have had to sign up for a pension plan and you would have to have vested in your plan before you would be eligible to collect a pension.
Yes you can
NYCERS will have employment record from the date you became a member of nycers However, you can get credit form 1980 by requesting buy back. The agency where you worked has your detailed employment history.
The last time I check work I g city or state job it $30,000 . if you work private or federal it's unlimited
It depends on where you will be working. There is NO income limitation if u work for a private company or federal gov't or state or city gov't other than NY. No income limitation also applies to anyone who is over 65

Do I need to make an appointment if I want to sit down with Pension Counselor? I just want to discuss regards to my pension questions?
This may be a question for OLR
This is the plan, I have heard...technology takes long to be implemented properly
These are funds from your employer that become pensionable after 2 years
