My father past away he had a pension for Nycer how do I find out if I am his beneficiary

The pension could only go to the wife if he left an option to her like 5 year option or 10 year option or life option That means he get less on his pension but she gets the option. Now they have insurance not much it could be about $14,000 if he has your name on that then claim it I would call NYCERS asap. Then check to see if his union has death insurance for him that could be about $5,000 to $30,000
