If your license is expired for 2 years or more, you must apply for an original license. You must pass the vision test and the written test, complete a pre-licensing course and pass a Road Test. I would go to the DMV office and get a new license. You may have to pay little more for letting it expire but much better than starting all over again. The fees are not listed in public so you would know when you get to the DMV office or you can call and find out.
