I've been taking my cats here for 6 years now. The staff here really cares about their health. They help me keep them healthy! They are so loving towards my Babies!😁 I definitely recommend them!

Yes the JV's do clean the cages, etc. But so do the adults. Just like you'd do at home with any pet. It's a part of their health care. Most of the teens understand that. Some when they are older even work there. Some become advocates for animals and share their knowledge. It's like anything else in life some like it. Some don't. Some find their calling or their niche and some don't.
Take them to the donation box. They'll accept anything.
Yes, you can take an animal to SPCA if you are unable to care for them anymore. Rather it be due to financial, medical, it other extenuating circumstances.
They always need food towels and blankets
Junior volunteers start at age 13 through 18.
You put them on the shelf outside the doors to the right, jv's will eventually pull them off the shelves and wash them whether their clean or not.
They may have a waiting list, but they are very rude when you ask for a specific breed/age. They prefer if you just stop by and "shop around"
Definitely. My middle school required community service each year and that's where I did my community service.
I would call them. Don't always answer on computer that quick.
Yes
Monday.
Yes
They do offer a clinic there, that is cheaper from what I understand. Though they do check your income for their low-cost clinic. I would call, leave a message and have them call you back
Sometimes!
Call and ask when they are getting more puppy transfers in and schedule an appointment for that date. Be first in line that day of your appointment.
Try no kill shelters, or hopenfornlige rescue or facebook
Call the clinic or the adoption center directly.
I would call over there. I am sure they would be willing to look and work out something with you.... most likely. They have so many cats to re home!
Although this is not unusual, I would get in touch with a vet or SPCA just to be on the safe side.
Receptionist are busy much of the day. They truly want to be their to help everyone. Aside from phone duty and greeting people, they clean public areas, clean bathrooms, take in donations. Schedule appointments and call to reschedule appointments that are missed by people that can't be bothered to show up. They chip the animal's they assist other shelter teams when there is a man power shortage. The run errands and go to lunch. People should visit a shelter and observe what goes on. The kennel cleaning will discuss 95% of people and they do this work close to minimum wage.
Call them. They are best equipped to answer your question.
You sure can they are ready for you.
Hi Mike, We currently do not have any birds. We do get some on occasion but haven't had any for a few weeks.
Hi Nitza, We're very sorry to hear that the new housing does not allow pets. You can find more information about surrendering a pet to the VBSPCA at https://vbspca.com/surrender/https://vbspca.com/surrender. While we do not classify ourselves as a "no-kill" shelter, we do maintain a live release rate of around 90%. This means that around 90% of the animals that enter our shelter each year are either adopted or transferred out to a rescue organization. We only euthanize in extreme circumstances where an animal poses a significant risk to the public or has a significant, unresolvable health-issue that would result in suffering. We never euthanize due to a lack of space or because of length of stay. You can learn more here: https://vbspca.com/faq.
Hi Nancy, you can find our full wish list here: https://vbspca.com/wish-list Thank you for your support!
At least 16
Hi Alyssa. For legal purposes, we cannot divulge adopter information. That said, some adopters do provide updates to previous owners, but it really is at the discretion of the adopting family.
They had bunny's there..
Hi Tyra. We have accepted exotic birds in the past on a case by case basis. Please visit https://vbspca.com/surrender to view our intake hours. We highly recommend that people call ahead at 757-427-0070 before coming to the shelter to surrender a pet.
It can only be adopted and there are many animals ready to go home
Turn him in with donation to go towards his care.
What kind of blood test? Heart worm test, $15 plus exam fee. Chemistry blood panel $68 plus exam fee.
I absolutely love this place..friendy and loving atmosphere..everyone loves ur pet..
They take dropoffs, however, for specifics of your case, you would have to bring your dog in and talk to them about it.
Call Animal.Control.
Everyday they get some new pets.you can check their webpage for available pets.I got my petbull terrior puppy 10 month ago after two days of website checking.
You jave to call
I am not sure.Sorry i can not help with this question .Holly Ridge Manor off of seaboard rd boards pets and their great people!!!
The JV volunteers will prepare bedding for the cat cages, fold sheets and put them away, clean the kennels when a dog makes a mess, etc. During the orientation they will show you what you can do to help and they encourage you to ask around if you would like to do more.
Becky - Yes they do. 😊
Legally it must go to animal control
There is a portal on the website where you can sign up to volunteer. You will need a letter of recommendation from someone that is not your immediate family, such as a teacher.
Try contacting PETA. They have a spay and neuter van, which is super cheap, and they may be able to point you towards a free clinic if you can't afford them.
All the animals there are fixed and have had their rabies shot. Well worth the price
Depends on the size of the dog.
Yes. Take your dog to the vet immediately!
I would give them a call before going
I emailed them and they said that you have to be 13 in order to volunteer per their insurance
Please contact the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center. They provide traps for a small fee which gets refunded when the cage is returned.
Also look into the Bunny Hutch rescue on Birdneck road.
The Virginia Beach SPCA accepts animals on Wednesdays.
It depends if would be easier to call in for availability
$350 if that dog is 6 months or younger $175 over 6 months
They don't usually have kittens. They have a store that does have younger animals for adoption. As for time if you have all your papers in order and go early yes, but as I volunteer there I very much recommend you take time to think about this, not everyone takes the time and effort to commit either give up and return the animal to us or don't give them enough attention, but yes 1 day adoption is possible
Yes u can drop it off if u like.
If you dropped off the cat maybe, but you'll deffinetly have to call or go in
The VBSPCA Pet Supplies & Adoption Center in Kempsville will be open from 12-3 today (Christmas Eve).
Yes.
I haven't yet, although I hop .e to get a lab soon.I look at shelters first, then reputable breeders.I go and see what conditions they are bred in,gather vet reports
We decide what we can use and what we want to keep, if your blankets are in good condition we will keep them, of they are in really really bad condition we will toss them, thrift store ussualy get a our crates when we have extra but the rest is issaily just correctly donated to the thrift store, so long story short, if your blankets are in good enough condition yes they'll go to the animals, if in a bad condition we will throw them away
You can drop your bird cage off at the SPCA.
Look at their website. Depending on if someone was available to volunteer to take photos, they post photos of available animals.
Contact the clinic for accurate and up to date information
Call your closest SPCA make an appt. They have a low cost program you just have to bring your pay stub and proof of residency. Also if you or your spouse are in the military they have low cost vet services. Beach vet clinic gives you the initial check up for free you just habe to pay for meds and procedures. Hope your pet is ok and the info is helpful. Good luck!
Aside from cats and dogs of small nature, the selection is limited
We try to have photos on the website of animals up for adoption but it all depends on whether a Jv was a valuable to take pictures of the animals
Yes! You can find a list of our open positions along with our pay range and job description for each opening here: https://vbspca.com/employment/.
Call the SPCA and ask
I think their site has the prices and what's included in the adoption fees. You just go down when they are open and fill out an application. It cost us $375 to adopt a 3 month old puppy, but it covers shots, spaying/neutering, microchip, they gave us a bag of food etc. So glad that you're looking to adopt a pet though, so many need good & loving homes. 🙂
My grandson has volunteered for a while now. You get an application and have to have two adults write references.
You should go an take a look and find out for yourself. That's your best bet
Our Neuter Scooter team will give you a pickup time when you drop your pet off. For dogs, it is usually between 10am and 2pm . You will also receive a text when your pet is in recovery and almost ready to be picked up.
For information on how to surrender an animal, visit https://vbspca.com/surrender/.
We do not accept furs as donations at the Virginia Beach SPCA.
Yes! Email them, shelter or clinic, and they can help you out. If you remember the name your pet was given while in the shelter and the year adopted, that would be helpful. Good luck!
No.u have to do it.
You can find information about setting up an appointment to surrender your pet on our website: https://vbspca.com/surrender/.
Call and make sure they have room
No. Contact Petcare Veterinary Hospital. They are more specialized in pocket pets.
You can check out all of the animals we currently have available for adoption on our website: https://vbspca.com/adoptable-animals/.
I don't know the answer to that question. You can call them to find out.
Take it to the SPCA, they will take it
If you already have them trapped they should pick them up.
No
The prices are all posted on the website. They also have a neuter scooter, and portable vaccine van
They have a vet clinic as well as they put injured animals up for adoption after treatment
Yes they do and they offer cremation services for about $250.
Go to the website, VBSPCA and look under adopt, and then go to small animals.
If you there when they open there are no lines.
Im so sorry to hear that. Sorry for your loss. I dont see why they wouldn't as long at it is not expired.
They have their volunteering information on their website! 😊
Possibly. They always have small animals there. Worth a phone call 🤷♂️
