Yes the JV's do clean the cages, etc. But so do the adults. Just like you'd do at home with any pet. It's a part of their health care. Most of the teens understand that. Some when they are older even work there. Some become advocates for animals and share their knowledge. It's like anything else in life some like it. Some don't. Some find their calling or their niche and some don't.
13. And it is work. You have to believe in what you're there for. Caring for homeless pets isn't all fun all the time. But they're a nonprofit which means the staff don't get paid much and they need a lot of help. Especially during the week. Yes the JVs have to work their way up to the fun stuff. And it's so worth it. My daughter is a JV
Left me forewarn her, it's all cleaning up pee and poop and just cleaning for about 2-3 hours and then if you get lucky have time to play with animals, or more likely you get suck doing a random task
They also have an application for JV’s at their location st the front desk, and they have online copies from their website as well. The site for the application should include the requirements as well
For further questions, you should call the number at their web page.
Please call them directly, they do have junior volunteers.
