George Lindsay | Feb 8, 2022
Rodney Moore | Feb 8, 2022
Fly there and visit to see if it's your cup of tea long term. YouTube has a handful of great Expat vloggers who have retired there that cover your question. Really you do not need much other than an onward ticket and the ability to pay for visa renewals there at the times required. I would suggest Reekay's LifeBeyondTheSea as one of the vloggers that cover this well and often in his videos. Search others and see who you like and who you don't, join their live streams and ask your questions there.
I hope you can retire there and are happy, as I am jealous. I have some time left before I can do the same.

I need to report my marriage to DC. On the form how is my last name to be shown? My married name? Or my Maiden Name? I have submitted digital documents to them in January 5, 2021 but no reply as I do not want to send originals that's rejected.
Joyce Hayduchok | Oct 6, 2021
Erell Germia | Oct 6, 2021
I'm not sure on how the phil embassy in DC works with their mail-in Report of Marriage. The New York PCG civil registry responds really quick with emails. I sent my digital documentary requirements to them to see if everything is correct at 4:39pm. Then, they emailed me at 5:05pm that I can proceed to mail my complete report of marriage packet. That quick. As for the documents, I sent my important docs as certified true copies and photocopies of the CTCs. CTC and notarization costed me the same for each.. i don't want to send my original certificates and IDs either. The only original I sent are the notarized forms. For your maiden name or married name, sorry I don't have any idea. I did not change my name.
Edna, I know it is frustrating to schedule via Qless. Try contacting them via the email address and number they posted on Legalization/Notarization section. If you already tried that, you only need to try setting up the appointment several times like what Rosary suggested.. i did the same.. I applied for my passport renewal and I used to check the appointment portal since October 2020. I got the appointment date I want in January for the February schedule. I went there yesterday to renew my passport and indeed, they are strict with the number of people in the building. My appointment went smoothly and finished evrything in 30 minutes. I also emailed the registry department for my Report of Marriage and they responded to me within 1-4 hours during work days..I am not sure for the notary department on what their system looks like.

First apply for an appointment online on their website. Then bring with you the original and photocopy of the following : Current Passport, Valid ID (driver's license, work permit, etc), and proof of your Filipino Citzenship. Also bring $60 exactly for payment, a self addressed priority mail envelope with tracking number (if receiving by mail), and dress appropriately for photo taking.
You don't need a notarization. File a report of birth then apply for passport. Go to the website and set an appointments, they don't allow walk-ins now.

It is not advisable for her age to travel to the United states since the covid19 cases number has recently increased and with her age the chances of her getting covid is high.
You have to make an appointment to come in to the consulate office. No walk ins. There are limited time slots so you have to keep checking the consulate's website until there is an available slot open.

If you are adamant by email about getting an appointment and also put your disabilities thwy should get back to you with an emergency appt. I'm not sure what is costs for dual but I know you have to be present because you must take an oath. The requirements are online but also email them about the requirements because sometimes they do not put all the requirements online. (Another thing I got mad about when talking to the management

Was yours a renewal? The passport you renewed, was it cancelled? If it was not, it needs to be cancelled. You then need to send that to the consulate so that it can be cancelled, then they will send the new and cancelled passport in that envelope you have the tracking number... check newyorkpcg.org if you have more queries...

One application for each adult. Please go to newyorkpcg.org for all the details... application time is in the morning only... also, do you need to report a marriage? Your kids' birth... all details in the website.
There are to way to do it
Specifically if you are pressed for time, a relative or friend in Philippines can be the best person you can count on to do everything on your behalf .all you need to do is send to that person a signed authorization letter along with the requirements . An online Appointment also is required.
Without authorized representatives
Only choose this way if really don't have any one in the Philippines whom you can trust to do the application/renewal for you . Basically involve to go the embassy in the country where you are living right now. Securing all requirements, making online Appointment, sending sending the documents to the NBI clarence Center at U.N Avenue in Manila.

You dont need to have a visa to travel to Philippines however, being a US citizen, you are only allowed to stay less than a month for free. When you extend your stay, you need to go to DFA in philippines to pay corresponding amount for overstaying and every such number of days thereafter.
Please check their website as it shows the details for dual citizen, schedules and other important matters. http://newyorkpcg.org/the-consulate/our-services/dual-citizenship
My husband is a US citizen whose passport expires on July 2, 2019. We are leaving to the Philippines this March 23 and returning this May 3, 2019. Is his passport valid to enter the Philippines and then return to the US or should he renew it?

He should renew it now. I believe there's an Express processing for us passports, go to uscis.gov for more.
Sorry but no. First requirement is personal appearance in a consulate. They will be taking your biometrics. Please go to newyorkpcg.org for requirements, forms, consular outreach schedule (days when the consulate will travel to a location near you).
Hi. For passport application of a newborn, is personal appearance mandatory? We live in the Bahamas and we don’t know how we can take him there for the application. Please advise. Thanks.
A Google User | Oct 7, 2019
Erwin X | Oct 7, 2019
You need a lot of questions to ask... what is your newborn's citizenship... do you need to report his birth to make him a Filipino and entitled to a passport. Where do I do that? How do I do that? Go to newyorkpcg.org for possible answers. For passports, personal appearance is a must because the consulate takes the biometrics... picture, thumbprints...
If she needs an NBI clearance, have her go to the Houston Philippine Consulate. But I too believe she should get the clearances from here since she is a U.S. citizen...

Best thing to do is go to newyorkpcg.org to review the requirements and print the form. Most likely you will be asked for a birth certificate authenticated by the PSA, go to ecensus.com.ph for that. But there might be more depending on the changes that happened from the old passport to now... newyorkpcg.org please

Bring old Expired Passport (photocopy the main section), valid IDs to prove Philippine Citizenship (each have photocopies), $60 cash per passport renewal. Check the website and facebook account for holidays and other information.
Yes you can do that, but you need to be there early. Civil Registry is between 9am-12nn only. After that you can renew the passport with your married name, in the same day provided you have all the requirements needed.
Are you saying that you already have a power of attorney but you only need it authenticated by the embassy?
If so it sounds more like something a lawyer would be to do for you rather than the embassy itself.
However if you want to ask, to have the embassy do it for you, you should go to your local embassy in person to do this.

There is only a simple SPA form at the consulate, you will write the details. If SPA is complicated or you are not sure what you are going to put in, ask your lawyer to have SPA before you go to the consulate to sign
Doesn't sound like you have the power of attorney yet. You cannot sign that document for someone else.
If people could, then there would be rampant fraud.

This question was posted on the website of the embassy:
What can I do if I do not have the luxury to wait for four to eight weeks for the arrival of my passport?
All applicants are advised to apply at least six months prior to the expiration of their respective passports to avoid any inconvenience.
If an applicant has an emergency travel to the Philippines, he/she could be issued a Travel Document. A Travel Document is a one-way authority to travel to the Philippines in lieu of a passport.
The applicant needs to establish proof that your impending travel is an emergency (e.g. death in the family, medical or legal emergencies, and other analogous cases).
I hope that answers your question and helps you.

You can process both. Make sure you’re early enough, and that you have all the necessary documents. (I don’t work for Phil. Consulate)
Are you open tomorrow

There is nothing on their Facebook page to indicate that they will be closed tomorrow or Thursday.
On Wednesday they were running limited hours but they were open according to their Facebook page.
I would assume that means they will be open tomorrow normal hours unless anything changes.
I’ve been calling so many times nobody pick up.....just want to ask if my passport is available for pick up so I don’t have to waste my time going there and then in the end nothing.....

You have been given a receipt with an encircled CHECK# so that you could track the status of your passport application online. Go to the Philippine Consulate Website under Our Services/Passport/Tracking. Type in your Check#. It should say AVAILABLE. It saves time to do your own reading rather than depending on them answering calls. It is mentioned on their Website that there is no need to call.
Tomorrow is Presidents' Day. They will be closed on Presidents' Day to the best of my knowledge, as last year, according to their official website, they were closed.
On their Web site, they require original Birth Certificate plus two (2) photocopies of your BC, current/old passport and photocopy. However they sometimes just take a photocopy of the passport. Bring the documents listed on their Web site just to be sure, and $60 processing fee for renewal.
Are you open tomorrow Jan.17 2018
