We tent camped for two nights at an electrical site in the southern campground. We really liked the campsite, however they are completely gravel (fine if you have an RV, but something to keep in mind if you are a tent camper). The park was mostly quiet and beautiful! If you are tent camping, the airplanes taking off/landing in the early morning at the nearby airport are very loud and will wake you up. The wildlife is fun! There are lots of woodpeckers, we saw turkeys, and we also saw a mother deer with her twin babies! There was a nice big open grassy area behind our campsite that the kids loved playing in. The bathrooms were clean and the vault toilets were acceptable. Good park store with everything you need and more. Our kids are 6 and 4 and it was a fun park. They natural areas by Sturgeon Bay are full “beaches” of smooth white rocks, which if you have kids, you know it’s basically a beach of treasures and building blocks. We camped mid July and the weather was cool/warm/pleasant (73~ during the day and 60~ at night) and there weren’t many bugs, although we did still use bug spray. The tower in the park was marked “permanently closed”, so don’t hope for it to be opened 😔 We enjoyed a local fish boil at Waterfront Mary’s. Highly recommend.

Shaded forest trail for the Tower loop trail and Ice Age trail terminus. Pleasant with the lapping water from the bordering shoreline of Lake Michigan. Despite the holiday weekend, there were not a lot of other hikers on the trail. Only moderate elevation changes but lots of rocks and roots in the path. Glad we were wearing bug spray since there were patches that seemed to have bugs.

My pup and I spent 2 nights at Potawatomi SP, June 2022 testing out our Teardrop camper and hiking the Sturgeon Bay segment of the Ice Age Trail. Our campsite (#66) was perfect! Easy back in, very level, lots of room. Large picnic table and fire ring complete with swing out grill. Camp store was well stocked as well as ample wood supply for fires. You can drive, hike, bike to most spots. Many open grassy areas for games and people to hang out. Seemed like a great family campground! The trails led to beautiful views along the Bay and within the forest. I would definitely camp here again!

Simply stunning. My words will do the gorgeous park and scenery no justice...so I uploaded some pics to motivate you to get out there and experience it 😉

18 or older for campsite and 21 or older for a cabin .
Not at the swimming beach. If your dog likes the water there are other spots to get to the water.
It's actually the description of the site on the reservation site. It won't allow us to reserve a 28 trailer if the site says it's limit is now 26 for example. We've camped there for yesrs. Many sites there are plenty big though.
No they are not
Yes .. you will need to fill up your water prior to parking or haur it from s pump station
As others said, no. Not only is it locked and boarded up, but a number of steps are missing and it's falling apart
Yes, our site had a circular pit with a swinging grill that rotates over the fire if you like. Plenty of homes in town have firewood for sale via an honor cash box.
Yes
The picnic areas are on the eastern part of the park. You can go to https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/potawatomi then click on maps then the park map and you'll see it there.
When I was there they looked good but with this warm weather I'm not sure how they held up.
It will be fine.
Mountain bike and road bike trails depending on your experience level. Over all a good time
Yes. Several access points in the park. Bullhead point just east of the park and it has a few sunken boats
I think October but am not certain. You could call the Parks & Recreation and ask them. I'm sure they know more than me🤔
It'll be tight on the access road. I'd call the park ranger's office and ask. The parking should be fine but the access road will be very tough if there's any oncoming traffic. You will need a pass (you can buy from ranger's office) to access park.
No. The tower at Potawatami is still closed. The one at Peninsula State Park is down and a new one that will be handicapped accessible will be built there.
Wow...8.00 is sooooo much to pay...such cheap people...FYI that money goes to keep up the park...quit being so damn cheap and pay the 8.00..
I don't camp, but they do have areas to park campers. I believe some have hook ups. You'd have to check with them. As I said I don't camp, but I believe reservations for camp sites in those Wisconsin State Parks are first come, first served. For more information check out the website for Wisconsin State Parks at https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/?prompt=0
There's mountain bike trails but you also cycle on the road which is pretty quiet. It is a little hilly though.
I believe camping is $30 a night. It is the same as all other state parks per night.
You would have to go to the Wisconsin State Park camping registration website to check. I would highly doubt they have availability, though.
I would make a reservation. Park can fill up fast.
Another no. Like you need 100 people to answer that. Hahaaa.
Only if its within 5 miles of the park, because of the emerald ash bore. There is a nice reasonable place on the road to park and they sell wood in the park too.
Yes
Yes. Leashed dogs are allowed in almost all WI state park campgrounds.
Yes if it is not a tent only site.
Scott is right on all points. Prudence is required. A fat tire bike, maybe. Back country skis, likely. Snowshoeing, very likely. Beware that icy conditions can be dangerous. And it may not be possible to get a rescue vehicle in to get you. Also, cell service can be spotty in the park. I'll echo what Scott says; ask at the entry station before making any attempt. If they advise against then you shouldn't try it.
Yes to the water, group camp, boat launch, but not to tower.
