This is one of my favorite places in the area that I like going to, both in the summer and in the winter! The hike is pleasant, first of all. Then the waterfall, of course, is huge. In the summer, it is great to be able to watch the falls or even go into the water the way I did. In the winter, watching the frozen falls gives a new kind of feeling. You can also watch the falls from up above at one of the closer overlooks. In addition, many people choose to camp here when the weather is nice. There are camping grounds and canoe accesses for those that would like to expand their activities.

Very nice park, good trails, the campsites in the 300 block have good space and are woodsy, the 100 and 200 sites look to be much more open. The bathrooms were clean and stocked and had hot water. The falls are definitely worth the hike, especially in spring. The beach area is huge and basically all grass - too early to swim so not sure about the water but the lake is pretty brown at the moment. The nature center staff were knowledgeable and the mammal identification hike was well done. No store or anyplace to get coffee. Caught a trout with our bare hands at the falls!

One of the more photogenic state parks in the system. Willow Falls is a pretty decent hike to a from, but the falls are beautiful and very pretty to look at. Willow Falls was also a dam at one point in its history, with some remnants from the past. Definitely worth a visit if you are coming from Minneapolis, St. Paul, or Eau Claire.

Such a fun winter hike! I have trekking poles and they came in handy here as the winter trails are very very hilly and can be slick fyi. I recommend parking at the Nature Center and then hiking to the falls. A 15,000 steps hike down and back.

For sure. I see people with their dogs at the falls all the time
I had already paid for my site on Reserve America and was shocked to be charged another $15 or something like that for 2 night pass. I think there is an out-of-state charge and a weekend charge as well...
Yes there are showers and flush bathrooms in the 300 and 100 campgrounds. (Showers are free... No quarters needed!)
Yes you can.
Of course! Build a fire using locally sourced wood. They sell it here and at nearby gas stations. Good question, I’ve never asked and always assumed there would be wood available and there has been. ;)
All state parks charge an entrance fee. It's $10 per vehicle, unless you have a yearly pass. If camping, that comes with additional charges, and you'll need to go to the website for that.
It's about a 3 mile hiking trail on top of the bluff with a good descent to the falls, can also use stairs alternatively parking lot on CR I
The only thing I'd like to add to these comments is that the waterfall is absolutely beautiful in the winter. That is worth checking out.
About a mile from the dedicated parking area that is east of the main state park entrance. It is paved for part of the trail. There is a fairly steep hill going down to get there and uphill to get back.
I do not know . The the entrance fee is on a per car basis. I was charged the out of state rate which I believe was $7.00 per car.
Sure can! Enjoy!
Yes there are fishing options in the downstream
There is a reservable shelter near the dam picnic area.
we tried hiking but we went back like halfway thru
Not recreational scooters. If you need one to help you move around, it can be in some of the trails. Some have some slopes that can make it difficult. So I think the answer is "depends".
None... I'm homeless and I sat at those park two night straight in my car and not even one ranger or the pigs ... soo peaceful
Yes open every day, double on Saturdays
Yes you can, provided that you have a Wisconsin State Park pass for your vehicle and a valid Wisconsin fishing license. I wouldn't recommend fishing right at the falls as there are much better spots in the park.
The nearest parking lot which is the first right turn as soon as you enter the park has a walking distance of around .5 miles
Yes they have camping ground as well. Grills are there as well. There is very steep slope going towards waterfall and little tough for old or heavy people.
No
There is no lake right now. They're working on the dam so there's only the river running through the park. Most of the sites in the 300s campground are going to be nice. In the summer, you're honestly not going to really be able to see the lake at all due to the elevation difference and amount of tree cover in the 300s. I mean it depend on the season and site, but don't count on it. The sites that are in close proximity to the lake tend to be the most popular but they are at weird angles that diminishes privacy if there's a busy campground. I'd recomd 346, 348, 311, or any of the campsites against the woods in the lower loop of the 200s or. 222, 224 and 221. If you're looking for electric those sites are less secluded. Also depends a lot of the season due to the leaves and if you're camping weekend vs weekday. Weekends tend to be full in the summer while weekdays are not.
We hiked a 0.5 miles trail called the Nature's Playground trail. It's a grassy trail loop with fun natural things for kids to climb on. The start of the trail is near the outhouses just off the paved path near the nature center. If you stop at the nature center first, they may be open and able to tell you. A bit about the trail too.
Not that I'm aware of at the park, the dam is under construction so the lake is down to a 20 ft. wide river, l would check around Hudson it's only 10 minutes away. They should have rentals there.
Parking fee is 13 dollars per car, swimming beach no, just the water fall , it's a beautiful place....
Yes there are multiple camping sections. Campground 100 (light trees) has 50 sites, campground 200 (medium trees) has 30 sites, campground 300 (heavy trees) has 70 sites. Reservations can all be made online.
Yes both. The north side of the river has a good mixture. Starting wooded from the water falls and moving to more prairie like. There is also a parking area on the northwest end of the park where you can start in the prairie if you like.
Yes on a leash
We stayed friday till Thursday the next week and it was very nice. The weekend was busy however during the week it was pretty slow. Great place to stay...
People climb all over the falls. You can sit down in certain areas and won't be swept away. You can jump in at the one spot and it'll shoot you down and out. You can also walk behind the falls in a certain area and in another spot you can sit really close behind them. I had fun all over the falls when I was there.
I saw many people with dogs. I believe WI state park rules state they must be on an 8' leash at all times. Theres lots of trails in the area to explore. Would be a great spot to take a pet.
I've seen one once in several visits here.
You can buy it from the park office at the entrance of the park.
Honestly lots of people in decent physical health were struggling with it due to the extremely poor parking situations. If you can get into the lot right off the highway it's not to bad other than a large hill. But we were sent several miles down the road before we could find somewhere to park.
The grade is steep from the upper parking lot. You can hike from the boat landing lot, an easy going 2 mile hike
There is a trail map, i believe you get there from the 200 campground.
Yes, at the natural Museum place. It's about 3 miles into the park at the end of the road. It's where the lake used to be but we were just there last week and it's still pretty nice even though the lake is drained.
You can park at the lot on River road and hike to a long set a stairs that end near the falls
No
There is a daily entrance fee or you can purchase an annual pass
No.
Still closed after the draw down of the lake.
New to the area, the lake is dry, the dam is being rebuilt. No lake. The falls is worth seeing.
Yes. There are electric sites available.
I heard they were rebuilding the damn but im sure they wont be done by October
Hiking is currently allowed on all the ski trails. The trails have good snow cover with some icy spots.
Only gun and only on the north side of the Willow River. Park off the River road
Yes a state park daily pass is $8.00 for Wis. Residents. It could be $10.00 for non residents.
