Love this place just hate how destructive humans are we picked up tinfoil bottles and cans that shouldn't be there

It was awesome experience. Lots of turtles birds. Peaceful location. Saw an alligator resting very nearby. A bit difficult to maneuver the tube. Totally worth visiting.

This was our 3rd trip to Itchy. If you are looking for a relaxing day in the woods, you need to float down the Itchnetucknee River. You can rent a tube and get tram tix at the state park. $6 per vehicle entrance into the park. Tram is $8 pp or you can walk to the river. Tubes start at $16 but you can bring your own. Highly recommend this experience. Also, there is a museum at the south entrance with fossils and interesting animal facts.

We went during the week and in the morning. It wasn't crowded. It was so serene. We visited the North Entrance. Beautiful simply beautiful clear water.

Is it still kayaking and canoes only? We have our own. How do you get back? Do they trolley you back even with kayaks?
Unfortunately, there are alligators in every river and large lakes in Florida. This particular river boasts large masses of people and kids daily, therefore, they prefer to be in the more secluded area of the river.
The rule is actually no disposable containers so yes yeti cups ( absolutely no alcohol ) are allowed. Even food is allowed as long as it is not in bags ( again reusable containers) as a park employee we try very hard to keep the items not allowed off the river, but people do sneak it on and litter.
No dogs are allowed in the swimming or tubing areas.
Yes and it's beautiful, relaxing and awesome ... we were able to see a few manatees
Yes There is a small fee to n blow them up once there.
$6 a car n floats is anywhere between $5-$20 depends on the kind you want the float down is about 1 1/2 hours
No it isnt... 5 ft wide is max
I have tubed down in the rain. It was fun. Calling the park is the best way to make sure but they don't close unless it is very flooded or there is a safety concern.
No camping in the park. There are local campgrounds near by and camping at o'leno State Park a few miles down the road.
Yes handicap access , yes wheelchair lift. Also steps
Yes just about everything has been cleared out. Still it is just nice to get in the water and relax.
Totally ridiculous post. My kids are grown but if they were still young I'd take them down the springs often. They are really safe and looked after. The staff are present and helpful. I went a couple weeks ago. Holiday weekends can be crowded so go early. Get there by 7:30 or 8:00. I'm going back in 2 weeks with a group of friends. This is not a river but it flows. There are no rapids. I take my own float and walk back up to go again. Trolley is $7 I think. I've never used it. 15 minute walk tops. Have fun.
Can't say I have seen dogs.
There isn't much of a beach, but they do have a handicapped chair lift in thw swimming area. Most of the swimming area is pretty deep, with most of the shallow parts right around the edge of the swimming area.
I don't want to out right say yes because I'm not positive, but I don't think it would be a problem I've floated down 100s of times literally with no float at all you just walk to the River from parking, just no coolers, food, drinks, etc on the River itself.
Yes you can bring your own sunscreen
Yes the trolley cost 5.95 a person Iif u have a good stamp card or know anyone with one it cost $3.00 a carload to get in the gate
You're not supposed to, no but people do it anyways lol just be smart about it.
Not sure what park you are talking about but lots of great fishing around
No it is one of the few FL State Parks that does not have camp sites. But there are private campgrounds nearby. Ichetucknee Family Canoe and Cabins is right across the street. Has tent and RV sites and air conditioned "rustic" Cabins. As well as full service tube rental. Our Scout troop goes every year.
If you start at the farthest point from the car park then the ride down will take the best part of three hours anyway. There has always been a park warden near the exit point, they may have a word with you if you don't get out. As far as drinks are concerned, if you bring them in non-disposable containers they are allowed. They don't you bringing items that people would be tempted to just throw away.
You can swim at the spring head at the north entrance, but can get very busy during the weekends. The north entrance will close after 220 or so people enter.
There is a camp ground across the street with cabins
No. My friend has lived in the area for 60+ years and has yet to see an alligator on the Itchtucknee.
If you are not familiar with the park, it has 2 separate entrances (north entrance and south entrance) that are a couple miles apart and are not on the same road. Once you pay your $6 entrance fee per vehicle at either entrance, you are able to go to the other entrance at no charge. If you are planning to tube the river, it is located at the south entrance. This knowledge will save you precious time. Having said that, it is always best to get there as close to 8am as possible as it fills up very fast on weekends. If you are not able to get into the south entrance to tube, the north entrance is where the headspring is located. In my opinion the north entrance is the much better option simply to swim in the cool water. While the headspring can get a little crowded, blue hole spring is only a 15 minute walk from the headspring through the boardwalk. Blue hole spring is amazing. Unfortunately, you will need to be a very strong swimmer or have a floatation device since the water is deep.
Not sure but don't think so I'm 😔 sorry
Itchitucknee is open through Labor Day Weekend. However, rules have changed so I advise going to the state park web site. So, you are not caught unaware of additional charges and other changes.
It does get full. But by the end of the day it is a ghost town
I know memorial day weekend was unbelievably packed with 1,000s of young adults! Craziest thing I have ever seen.
Yes, First come first serve...assuming weather is good. For future reference, check their website to see if reservations is needed.
Dogs are not allowed, unless they are service dogs. Signs are posted in multiple locations.
Camp grounds cabins they have tubes if your wanting to float down the river but a little cheaper if you bring your own state charges 6 $ to enter cash only unless you pay in advance they have a shuttle bus for a ride back it's an all day adventure or could be all weekend if your looking to camp
Not sure about that, as we did not use any
Ichetucknee springs family campground has cabins. Ichetucknee springs campground has tent and rv sites
No motor boats allowed
There are walking trails that would be suitable for bikes, just beware of some tree roots. They are dirt trails.
I think so
Entrance fee of like 6 bucks, unless you have a park pass. A lot of military can get them. I recommend going on a weekday if you can swing it.
There's no smoking ON the river. But I did see people smoking at the park.
I went about a week and a half ago but you have to get there early because there is a cap off on vehicles and will be closed off when full
in the 50 plus years that Ive been going, I've only seen one.
No locker space and currently they are only letting you float a portion of the springs but are allowing you to float as many times as you can in a day
"Constitutional rights" is the dumbest thing anyone can say. They requested a mask inside and on the tram. Social distancing was impossible while waiting for the tram as well. It was crowded at the river entrance too but you can make room there between groups. It was a busy day on the river but we could make room to have fun without masks.
1 hour 25 minutes from midpoint almost 3 hours from the beginning to end. Its gorgeous!!
Yes you can! They are open 8am until sunset and open 365 days out of the year.
Don't really know. Being that it is forest, I'm sure there are.
Yes there is a team that takes you back, you might be waiting about 5 to 15 mins though but you have the otpion to walk but it'll be about 20 mins. Its of thw tram road so bring shoes lol
Pretty sure but check their website
no you dont...but they only let a set number of people in per day so I reccomend a weekday and get there in the morning...
There is one that I know of and have been to, but there is at least one more. Beware, the current is very strong and people have died. The cave system extends for over a mile so be careful!
I would recommend going to north entrance first checking out blue hole, then driving to south entrace, will not need to pay again. Then they will shuttle you to north entrance and you can tube down to south entrance and go straight to your car.
Awesome. Good to know thanks everyone.
I was just there this past Monday first time and I must say that the current is quite Swift. I have to say I'm a fairly strong swimmer and when I got off the dock to get into my inner tube I fell in backwards. Lucky for me I did not let go of the Rope on my tube able to quickly grasp hold of the dock before the current took me completely out.
It doesn't look like it. Here's the website: http://www.ichetuckneesprings.com/
Only tubes are available
Just the park entry fee. Good swimming at the north park in the spring or blue hole. Go early on hot days.
It is $6 for a carload,if you have your on floating devices, you can use them, but you have to pay for the tram ride back to park, they will give you bracelets for your party to wear,to get on tram at the end of the springs,or you can walk on a narrow path all the way back to park, there is briars and brush along the way,and you have to carry your tubes too.
No drinks or food permitted beyond a certain point.
$6.00 for a car of up to eight people. You can bring food and drink into Park but you can't bring it down to spring or on the river with you. It's to protect the river.
Only on moon light paddles night..as far as I know
No. The water of the spring is too cold for crocodiles.
Yes! There's a shuttle fee
I have never seen any books there. Swim gear mostly.
They are open everyday of the year from 8am- Sundown. The Concession Tram is accessible for the hiking trail. 6.00 per vehicle 2-8 people
Tubes, rafts, and kayaks. You have to bring your own snorkeling gear.
Sure just make sure they have their floaties. I am not sure if the have a playground but there are grills etc and I can guarantee they will be exhausted and thrilled. We were floating when it started to rain but there wasn't lightening so they nmay pause entrance if it starts lightening bad but it is Florida so give it 15 minutes lol.
Admission fees are $6.00 per vehicle (limit 8 people per vehicle). You can rent a Tube for as little as $5.
$6.00 a carful ,then $7.50 per person for the shuttle if you have your own tubes
I'm sure they rent certain areas. As to swiming near these areas could depend on the location. There is s lot of land to cover in this place.
Yes lots.
$6.00 per vehicle for 2- 8 occupants. $4.00 per single occupied vehicle or motorcycle with 1 or 2 occupants $2.00 bicyclist, pedestrian, extra passengers, passengers in vehicles with Annual Individual Entrance Pass. Tram $5.50 plus tax. Shuttle Service $7.50 plus tax per person that includes the Tram Service.
8 to sundown
Sundown
I wish I could help you but we just did a lot of walking, I'm sure if you Google their number & call they can answer all your questions.. Btw, it is a beautiful and peaceful place... Enjoy if you go
Cold springs. Average temp is 72 degrees
It's really crowded on the weekends, so if you can squeeze in a trip during the week, you'll have a much more relaxing experience.
They do rent tubes on site but you can also bring your own. Not sure about cost.
2.5 hours or so.
Although it is not background. It is not advisable to swim. We descended the rapids in boats. Some people get out of the boats and go swimming. But the current is strong. Although it is not background. It is not advisable to swim. We descended the rapids in boats. Some people get out of the boats and go swimming. But the current is strong.
I wouldn't suggest it.
Not in most parts. The dog in the pic, Charlie, is a trainee with SOUTHEAST GUIDE DOGS.
When the weather gets cold, each year a bit different
only from the southern launches
It was charged by the carload at the North entrance, but it was reasonable, though I don't remember what the admission fee was. And then also the tube rental was I think around $10.
$6 per up to 8 people, you coulr call them to find out if group rate.
We got ours right inside the park. Not sure how the pricing compares, but it seemed reasonable and was very convenient
It's a natural Spring Park with Trails tubing canoeing kayaking and the multiple swimming holes.
