This is a frequent place for me to visit and get a boat in or take kids to play in the spring. It only gets 4 stars cause they added a bathroom and now charge $5/vehicle and now have a closing time. I used to pull out the boat sometimes around midnight!

The worst spring in Florida! Tiny and overcrowded. People smoking. Couldn't bare to stay there. Wanted our money back. Avoid this place. Filthy with food on the picnic tables. Someone needs to monitor this place.

Small watering hole. Website said pet friendly, but signs posted at the pay gate say no pets allowed. By that time you have no choice but to pay and go in. Kind of annoying.

Yes
Yes you can launch kayaks here...I'd recommend using the old boat ramp to your left as soon as you see the river when coming into the park vs the new ramp which is always slammed because of the kayak and canoe rental companies.

You can camp at Ginnie springs it's a 1/4 mile down river from rum island.
Most definitely. And even if you get out to visit as long as you have them on a leash you can walk around. The sign says no dogs but as long as you clean up after them and are respectful you'll be fine. Please be careful as the river is up and the current is quick. Check the weather as it is supposed to rain.
No sun up to sun down but there are several camp grounds in the area. Gilchrist or ginnie springs offer camping.
