The staff at this establishment are extremely knowledgable, level headed, and friendly. I LOVE to ask questions, and can become a bit annoying sometimes but all my questions were answered, and the staff truly goes above and beyond. I highly recommend you stop in! Just keep in mind that there are not many establishments of this nature in NYC so they are quite busy, but always welcoming!
Pablo Rivera
Expert and knowledgeable staff and instructors. Extremely helpful and accommodating. The best at what they do. I've used their facilities for nearly 40 years. I highly recommend this facility.
Pepe Rosario
Excellent service in a professional yet friendly environment.. Mr Johnson provided good service and answers to all my questions.
Manni Gonzalez
Went there for my 47 hours armed guard course, great instructor.

Yes but you are restricted to a .22 rifle. NYC laws are pretty restrictive. Interested in handguns or assault type weapons? Not in NYC, but the really good news is that is available in New Jersey! So locate a range nearest you, head on out, if that is your flavor. In either case, range employees are very accommodating and helpful. It is their business after all. If I didn't answer your question, feel free to pick up the phone. Have a wonderful day! 🌻
I have been to the range, but spoke on the phone, you have to go on their website, and fill out a form for a background check, the guy on the phone said it takes about 24 hours, on the confirmation email it says 48-72 hours for approval. Took me between 30-40 hours for approval.
Valentin has answered your question completely and accurately. NYC is strict, rest assured the staff is very helpful and friendly. It is a fun activity to take part in. If you would like to fire a handgun, or higher calibre assault type rifle, would recommend an excursion to Pennslyvania where it is allowed. It is about an hours drive away, well worth the trip, if that is what your really looking for. Would call ahead to reserve a spot, answer any questions you might have. Enjoy your time in America. 🌻
NYS has very restrictive gun laws. In NYC, more so, no one without a pistol permit can handle a handgun. Westside does allow people to take a short safety course and fire a .22 rifle that you can rent at the range. You should call them directly to ask about pricing, age and any other restrictions. The staff is very friendly. If your interested in firing handguns and assorted rifles of larger caliber, best to take a trip into Penn. the nearest state which allows it. Again, you should call ahead to find out any restrictions they might currently have. Please understand that gun laws vary greatly from state to state, and change often.
For new York city correction officers what do I need to bring?
You need a gun permit to shoot pistols. If you pass a background check and after you take a safety class you can shoot a 10/22 rifle. Call the range for details
NYC is notoriously restrictive when it comes to firearms. That said you can take your son to NJ where he could fire pistols or rifles at any range.
Yes they offer firearms safety classes.
You cant shoot any guns if you dont have a license, you have to take a mini class to shoot their basic rifle. Other than that they are super strict on shooting gun. Nyc in general is a strict place when it comes to gun. But the instructor is awesome they are very educated on guns and can answer all questions.
Theyre very strict, so unless you have a shotgun and rifle permit the only thing you will be able to shoot is a .22 rifle.
You can call to make a reservation, but you have to pay in person.
Not in some states, if you're visiting NYC and want to go shooting, it's westside rifle and pistol range. Non permit holders can shoot rifles there, but not pistols. Call and go to the thier website and fill out the NYPD background check because here in NYC have get one in order to shoot a rifle. Once you get there, you have to take a safety class which lasts about a half hour. The rifles are chained on the individual firing lanes so that they they don't go walking off, however; you are allowed to load your ammo in box magazines on the table in the main room.
You would be able to rent and fire a .22 rifle after a brief safety course. Only licensed gun owners are allowed to fire handguns in NYC which has the most restrictive firearm laws in the USA. Please check out their website for rules, pricing, or call Westside directly with questions. The staff is very friendly and happy to assist customers. Have a wonderful day. 🌻
They can help you apply for one. Check out their website or call them directly during business hours. The friendly staff would be happy to answer any questions. Have a good day! 🍁
Please check out their website online to see the different classes offered. They have unarmed and armed training classes for security guards. Also offer services in obtaining permits. The people at Westside are helpful and friendly so feel free call during business hours with any questions you may have. Definitely can recommend them.
You can call or visit the website for information. The staff is always eager to help. One thing to keep in mind is that in NY you cannot touch a handgun without a license, so you will be limited to firing a .22 cal rifle.
You would have to ship it to a federal firearm licensed dealer, then obtain a license in NYS or NYC to pick it up.
You should stop in or call with questions. The staff would be happy to answer them.
Plan on spending $100 per person. In NYC you can only rent and shoot a .22 rifle absent an impossible to get pistol permit. So if your looking to shoot something exciting, a 9mm pistol, or AK-47, then suggest you go to New Jersey where it is legal. Hiave a great day! 🌻
Carlos yes you can rent and fire a .22 cal rifle at Westside, just bring your passport ID. NYC law is very strict, so you can't rent a pistol without a valid NYC permit. If your interested in renting an AK-47 assault rifle, pistols, revolvers, then you have to head into NJ which allows it. Try Guns For Hire which is closest to midtown if that is your thing. Feel free to call ahead with any questions. Range personnel are very helpful, would be happy to answer questions. Enjoy your stay in the Big Apple! 🍎
Yes, bring your passport. Be aware that in NYC your only able to rent and fire a .22 cal rifle. Handguns can only be handled with a valid NYC pistol permit. If you are interested in renting and firing a pistol or AK 47 assault type rifle, it is allowed in New Jersey. Guns For Hire is the closest range from midtown Manhattan. Don't forget to leave me a thumbs up. Have fun in the Big Apple 🍎
Yes there hours are listed on the website along with range rules. Any other questions just call. The operators are there to help. 🌻
You should really go the their website, check the rules, or give them a call. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check the Google reviews forum as well, since your question has already been answered several times. Have a great day! 🌻
No. You have to be 21. Call the range with any other questions you might have, everyone there is nice, extremely helpful.
None. You can't even touch a pistol in NYC without a permit. If you want to shoot pistols then I NJ or PA is where you have to go.
Yes, tourists are welcome. Just take a short safety course, rent and fire .22 cal. rifle. Call with any questions, the staff would be happy to answer. Interested in firing a handgun, or assault weapon? NYC law doesn't allow it, but New Jersey does. Plan accordingly. Have fun visiting the Big Apple! 🌻
No. Felons are prohibited from touching a firearm of any type in NYC.
No. Unfortunately NYC is very strict. You have to be 21 to rent and shoot a .22 rifle after taking a brief firearms safety course. No one is allowed to fire, rent, use, a handgun without a valid license issued by the NYCPD License Division in NYC. If you are 13 and up you can do so in NJ with adult supervision. Try Gun For Hire Range in Jersey. They are very friendly, it definitely is worth the ride and lots of fun. Have a great day Thomas. 🌻
Yes, you allowed to rent, fire a .22 cal rifle after taking a short safety course. You can call ahead for any information such as pricing. The staff is helpful and friendly. If your interested in firing a handgun, or higher caliber rifle, you would have to drive into NJ or Penn, which I prefer, where it is allowed by law.
No.
You can call and inquire, but since they only allow .22 cal rifles on the range I doubt it. They might be recommend a gunsmith who can.
Call the range because yes different types are allowed except for few types that can't be shot indoors. 9mm, 45 CAP etc.. can be used at the range, so like I said call them to get the straight dope on it.
No, unfortunately NY does not honor any other state pistol permit. Westside only has .22 cal rifles to rent and fire. If your interested in firing pistols or assault type rifles would encourage you to look into Penn, which allows it. Do a quick Google search for a range nearest your home, call ahead, inquire as to rates, rules, reserve a spot. It is important to call ahead, some ranges have meets, tournaments, and could be booked for a specific day. Penn is where I go with friends without a NY permit that want to try out the sport. Enjoy!
The law in NY does not allow anyone to handle a handgun without a permit/license which is difficult and time intensive to get. You can take a quick safety course, rent and fire a .22 rifle at the range for about $80. If you would like to fire a pistol, or assault type rifle, your best best is to take a 1 hour drive in to Penn. NJ might allow you to to fire a pistol as well. In any case, it is always best to call ahead with any questions. Range operators are friendly and helpful.
Yes you can, just have to take a quick safety course, and you can fire a .22 cal rifle, which is all NYC law allows. Staff is friendly, helpful. Call with any questions, ask for current rates. If you have your heart set on firing an assault type rifles, pistols, revolvers, then advise you plan an hour long trip into Penn. which allows it. NJ might allow as well. Suggest you Google a few places, call and inquire. Always best to plan ahead. Hope you have fun on your upcoming visit to the Big Apple! 🍎
If you dont have a gun, and or dont have a license or permit for a rifle or pistol, you must file out your information on their website to do a background check, once approved (you will receive an email) call the range to set up your 2 hour course ($75, includes shooting) and you are all set, you will now be able to go in anytime and fire a .22 caliber rifle in the range.
NYC / State law, is very restrictive, ranges also often have their own rules. Would call them and inquire. Westside has a very friendly, and helpful staff. Have a great day! 🌻
Law enforcement doesn't need a permit just agency identification. If your from out of state, you should be familiar with LEO requirements under federal law. There is a discount available, the staff is very friendly, would call ahead to ask any questions. One more thing, parking is difficult to find in the area, just something to take into account if your driving. Have a wonderful day 🌻
You can easily apply for a pistol permit online. Google NYC pistol permit. If you like, call the club, there are people there that can help you apply, they are very friendly. If you don't want to go through the time and expense of applying in NYC, suggest you take a ride into Pennsylvania where you can practically fire any weapon without a license. Just Google a range near you in Pennsylvania, call with any questions, and reserve a spot. Have fun! 🌻
Nope. In NYC it is illegal regardless of age to hold, posses, or otherwise use a handgun. The only thing you are allowed to do without a license is use a .22 rifle and for that I do believe you have to be 18.
50 feet.
Yes, they do help with permits. The staff is incredibly friendly. While you can easily apply for a permit yourself, some people feel better having an experienced professional navigate them through the process. Your welcome to call or drop in for information.
Yes
There are a lot of points at the range, so you shouldn't have an issue just showing up, still would recommend you call ahead to make sure. Please be aware that you would have to take a short firearms safety course, and your only allowed to rent and fire a .22 cal rifle. If you want to rent and fire handguns, or assorted assault rifles, the nearest state that allows that is Pennsylvania. Unfortunately NYC has some of the most restrictive firearms laws in the USA. Have fun Cassandra, hope you enjoy your stay in the Big Apple. 🌻
It depends on if you have a license, own your own gun, and what you plan on doing.

Call for details if your interested. New Jersey is another strict state. So is Connecticut. If you would like to rent and fire a handgun or assault rifle, the nearest state that allows it would be Pennsylvania. A little over an hours drive from NYC. Suggest you check out a gun range there if you can. It is well worth the trip.
