Not the fair we remember, and that's only from a couple years ago, I hope someday it will get back to its pre-covid state. Food selection was subpar, and there just seem to be far less attractions this year.
It is a great fair. I can't speak for you, but if you want to travel to a fair, this would be it. Good time of year to visit Upstate NY, Darien Lake, mountains, lakes and streams and Niagara Falls. You could take a side trip in addition to going to fair, to make it more worth your while. Just food for thought. I will encourage you to make your own value judgement.
No, it is open now, although often quite congested, they did build a new sidewalk, and we'll lit walkway going to the 3rd party parking on bridge st, and to milton
You didn't miss a thing the fair is not what it used to be high prices and a lot of vendors are gone if I looked into a crystal ball I would say the fair would not be around in 10 more years high rent prices for vendors and who wants to spend $8 for a beer $5 for a hot dog in $21 for a lobster sandwich come on folks
No it's not true about wearing the mask indoors. I was just there today and me and my family were not wearing masks.Alot of people where not indoors or outside. So leave the masks home if u like.
You will have a great time at the: The Great NYS Fairgrounds. If wearing a mask when ask is allowing you to miss out on great memories and lots of fun, please stay home.
For an all ride day wrist band it had 2 different prices ($25 & $30) for 55 tickets it was ($50) and I think for 12 tickets it was ($6.50).Me and my family purchased the 55 tickets. They give you a paper card with a bar code on it so the employees can scan the card to deduct tickets off of that. Some rides are 5 tickets,4 tickets and 6 tickets. We failed to keep track of how many tickets we used and found out we had 20 tickets still left on our card,so I gave it to a friend of mines at work to use the next day with her kids.
Hey Pearl. I would not recommend you to do that. I did it last year and the results were hideous. My niece won’t stop making fun of me. I had to move synagogues

There are two, the first is next to Chevy Court, in the building on the corner of Mohawk and Niagra street and is called Wood Creators, the second one is called Trapper Jacks and it is in the building on the corner of Mohegan and Delaware Street.
They have carts or whatever yet very high price to rent them but some people real need them to get around those grounds so huge thinking next year I might see about rent one for car show!
Ya not a kid friendly place any more. Way to much pot smoke for kids. I'm 43 I get it. But it was everywhere. I didn't see any smoking areas and I'm a smoker of cigarettes. So everyone was walking around smoking where they wanted. This combined with a lack of vendors was the worst fair I've been to in a long time.
The great time/ good time question depends entirely on you. If you enjoy looking at heavily modified cars, staggering amounts of heavy metal, then you're going to be in hot rod heaven. Enjoy!
Whom do I contact regarding services available at the state fair for disabled persons? i.e.-mobility, trams, scooter rentals, golf cart transport, etc.
Senior tickets are not available to purchase; rather, you show your ID at the gate on specific "Senior Days. " I am referencing the web page https://nysfair.ny.gov/your-visit/special/ : "Senior citizens, sixty (60) years of age and older, are offered free admission today. ID showing date of birth may be requested to allow free admittance." Also, "Seniors 60 and over are admitted free on consecutive Mondays and Tuesdays on August 24-25 and August 31-September 1, 2020." You can pre purchase your tickets online for $3, saving $2 off the gate price: "Admission tickets for the 2020 State Fair, August 21 through September 7 will cost $3 when purchased online and $5 at the gate" (https://nysfair.ny.gov/your-visit/faq/).
Just as the others told. Handicapped and regular. But there is a shuttle bus running from the orange parking lot. This is probably the best choice if you have problems walking longer distances.
Thinking about going sometime next week, have never been. Can anyone let me know if it's worth a trip up? Is this a 1 day thing or 2 days...thanks in advance. I would be coming with my 12 year old, anything to do with him?
If you have never been I would recommend. It's a lot to take in in one day tho. I'm one who does the buildings and all the animals including 4-H.They also sell a lot of thing there.

First there are several agricultural buildings throughout the fair filled with cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, and more that can for the most part all be pet.
As for the exotic animals, make your way into the children's rides area and then proceed to walking all the way to the end of it. Just past the very end of the Midway rides (pretty much the end of the fair) there will be a tent. Inside is the experience animal peeing area. They sell feed to give them for a very reasonable price as well

Yes, there are several areas scattered throughout the grounds where you can recharge an electric scooter. We were just there last Sunday and I rented a scooter. I did not have any issues with finding places to plug in and recharge, though the ones they rent hold a charge for qwite awhile.
Across from Crucible for $10, or down the street from there (left side of fairgrounds when looking at entrance) for $4-$5.
You can follow the signs and take the bus (no charge for bus) but you have to wait to leave...
