It is a great fair. I can't speak for you, but if you want to travel to a fair, this would be it. Good time of year to visit Upstate NY, Darien Lake, mountains, lakes and streams and Niagara Falls. You could take a side trip in addition to going to fair, to make it more worth your while. Just food for thought. I will encourage you to make your own value judgement.
Nope
If you like fairs then absolutely. It's a good fair compared to others that I've been to (in California) and it has a lot of things that are unique to New York, Upstate NY especially. If you've spent most of your time around NYC then you're missing out on a lot of great things that our state has to offer. One specific thing I would mention is the wine. There are a bunch of good winemakers in NY and pretty much all of them show off their wares at the fair.
Yes. Go. Stay a day or two if you can. The fair is huge. A lot to see and do. Yes, the people watching is enough to get me to go back time and time again. We’ve actually saw people with a white board tracking the number of mullets that walked by! Ummhmm! My favorite is Danielle’s lobster rolls! Omg! The corn on the cob. The variety of food, entertainment, rides, people... you can’t go wrong! I drive from Bayonne NJ. I meet Family and we go together. Always a special treat!
I love it and go every year!!!! Something for everybody. I live in Huntington on the Island. Get a hotel (motel) room ( there are plenty near exit 35) for a day or 2. Well worth it!
Absolutely! One of the largest in the country, with horse shows all day every day, numerous pavilions and free entertainment, displays and music. All the great food that Fairs are known for.
Short answer, yes! especially if you like Fairs and all they offer. As one of the other answers suggested, try to do other things upstate as well to make your whole trip worthwhile (Niagara Falls, some of the great state parks, etc.) I grew up here and went to the Fair every year as a child. Now I live out west and we made a special trip this year to include the Fair. I've been to several other state fairs and none of them compare to NY.
Yes! It is definitely worth it. As soon as you walk through the gates you won't regret it! NYS fair is the best I've been to out if many!
The fair has a lot of musical groups that play there as well. So u should see if there are any bands coming at the time that ur planning to come.
Yes it definitely would be worth you traveling to the fair, there's plenty of nice hotels to stay in around the fairgrounds and around Syracuse, also plenty more things to do outside of the fair in and around Syracuse.
Definitely it's been every year of my life that would be 61 of them
Make it a vacation to explore a part of the state you haven't seen....
It's the largest in the country! You can plan a day or camp there or stay at hotel and spend a few days as there is so much to see and do. Go for it.
The drive here isn't so bad from long island to see a great fair
Yes! It is the entertainment equivalent of Walmart with a Ferris wheel and wine slushies.
Yes nys fair is great but no shade and high prices but besides that a good family experience
It's worth traveling there just to see the quarter midget cars race!
No, but if you're upstate for any reason, then definitely go. Make a long weekend of it.
I haven't been there regularly recently, but when I was growing up, it was a tradition for me to go every year. I only go, more or less, now for events like the Salt City BBQ. They have made some improvements in the buildings, but I have always found the international pavilion building, to be the best part of the New York State Fair. This is where the food vendors are found, and even though they haven't renovated it, or built a new building in place of it, I'll bet it's still the best surprise @ the fair.
If you like people watching you will have the experience of a lifetime!
Yes, oldest state fair in the country!!! So worth a drive!!!
Can I bring a golf cart to the fair grounds to get around.
We're ranked one of the best fairs in the country!
No! There are bigger county fairs in NY than the state fair! And, they don't have King Andy's slimy fingerprints all over them!
No, the Big E in West Springfield, MA is closer and way better.
Plainly put... yes.
No
Yes.. Absolutely worth it
