Place is really small, definitely more for adults, there were some interesting, gruesome photos, but I was confused, facts and photos were everywhere, There’s not enough context along with the photos and letters. didn’t really have an idea of what was going on, everybody and everything was just clustered. It definitely would’ve been better if there was someone guiding you. The tickets are $17 plus tax which I think is little bit steep for what’s there, I would understand paying $10.

Very very cool if you're into the morbid & the macabre. I'm into true crime/serial killers cases so this was a insane experience being able to see documents and photos never seen before. Awesome place to stop and visit! Especially if you're into serial killer/death incidents.

I mean it's better than the Rosewell Alien Muesum, but not by much. Lot of cool oddities but you can be done with the muesum in 30 minutes... Zach Bagans in Vegas has more bang for the buck.

Wanted to go here and based on reviews thought it was open. Posting to show closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The one in LA is nice because I think it's a bit smaller than the one on New Orleans but it has a great collection:) Both have amazing collections so you should check both out!!!
Yes, you don't have to pay admission.. Buy all kinds of gifts.
it doesnt smell!..its actually really cold in there..no not a haunted house..it stays true to the word "museum" its really clean n really closed in..so theres stuff on every wall..n yes there is a room of cat n dog skellingtons..but just dont go in there, its after the shrunken heads...
Yes you can
While I visited I believe it was in the waiting area for the bathroom they had some newspaper clippings of it
If pictures were allowed, then others would not visit because they would have already seen what MOD was about
Outside is fine. Nothing inside though.
I dont know check the website or trying calling. Well worth the money..
If your squeemish this probably isnt the place for you actual pictures of decapitations , murders in progress , and videos of autopsies and such but if that doesnt bother you its super cool we loved it
That is true,
**Taken directly from the website** There is no age limit for the Museum of Death because death affects us all, however we STRONGLY recommend the museum only for MATURE AUDIENCES! Some content within the exhibits may be too graphic or explicit for children, and no children will be allowed inside without a parent being present. There have been a number of “falling down ovations” (people fainting throughout the years so we encourage you to prepare yourself before arriving!
Yes. If you bring a bag or backpack, they'll keep it in the front (and give you a bracelet) while you tour the museum. When you finish, you exchange the bracelet for your bag.
I found this place horrifying (so did my 18 year old son). It wasn't necessarily the gore, it was just the overwhelming horror of feeling like you were associating with serial killers. The first room contained letters that Richard Ramirez wrote to a friend about sending him "literature" while in prison....I really really really wish I could blank this experience from my mind. We both literally lasted 5 minutes in the museum. We sat out in front for a while and everyone that left had a horrified look on their face. Not quite sure what I expected, I mean, as a kid I loved seeing the shrunken heads at the Snow Museum in Oakland, but this was a whole different ballgame.
There's no discounts and DO NOT TAKE YOUR 14 YEAR OLD HERE THEY WILL BE TRAUMATIZED
There's honestly so much to see. They don't rush you which is awesome. It takes as long as you wish to spend there obviously, within the hours allowed.
Call and ask nicely. Im sure they will help you out.
$15 per person
With an adult you can come in. But how Polly told you. Discretion is key.
Yes. My understanding from reading about (and then visiting) this museum is that it originated in San Diego but relocated and has since been added to. For what it's worth, I thought it was quite interesting and worth the admission price. :)
An hour is a good estimate. If you're really into it you could easily spend a couple hours here.
You can spend as long as you like. That being said we were there for about 2 hours, but one can easily spend all day
It's your discretion. There is a lot of morbid stuff. Crime scene photos, gore pictures. I won't give anything major away but it isn't for the weak stomach.
Yes it's $15
A few animal skeletons, some animal parts in jars (a la biology class), a few human skeletons, a binder with information about celebrity deaths (you can find everything online with more info/pictures and better presentations), a glass case with JFK assassination books and a few memorabilia, some displays on the walls with serial killer art and letters (neat), some old newspaper clippings, serial killer memorabilia such as... a metal dog bowl? another's undies from death row? ...it was neat for a conversation piece with friends if they're into serial killers and history. But the content and displays should be greatly improved before justifying the price of entry ($16). The whole back room was just for a Faces of Death theater, which is a collection of videos and images of ghastly deaths and also widely available online, which they put to zydeco music? Lol. I was really hoping for more. They really could use some work to help with the displays to make the experience better.
They seem like nice and accommodating people. I would probably call ahead of time to be sure
There is no parking at the Museum of Death, and you can take an Uber or Lyft to the French Quarter. Parking is extremely expensive at the French Quarter from $25 to $15 depends on distance. An Uber or Lyft will leave you at the door. I always drive to NOLA, but I prefer to stay in Garden District due to parking. It so close to the French Quarter.
No, you don't, there is parking available right next door for $10.
I would assume they are open. Look on the website hours are listed
There's a video loop in the back but its skippable.
$17 a person
We went yesterday and as we were leaving, a family came in with young kids, asking the front desk clerk what the age limit was. The clerk explained to the parents that there isn't one, but warned up front, that there ARE exhibits inside that show graphic nudity, blood, decapitation, violence, etc. The clerk then explained that ultimately, it was up to the parent's discretion, whether or not to allow their children to go in and see that.
No, this is just weirdness, morbid, gruesome accounts of how bad people can be
17 or 18 dollars per person I don't remember very well.
I'm not sure I don't recall anything near price lists inside the place so you could just call them
Nope! Buy tickets when you get there!
Google search "wet specimens". You'd be surprised at what you can find!
Sorry its actually mon-thurs is 10am-10pm, Fri is 10am-9pm, sat is 10am-10pm and sun is 10am-8pm
If you can get one of their few spots no, but there is pay parking across the street
Serial killer memorabilia, pictures from real murders and death (which can be very gory, keep this in mind), taxidermy, videos of embalming/dealing with dead bodies in general (videos include real dead bodies). There's some pretty cool stuff there. Just make sure you don't have a weak stomach because all of it can make you feel uneasy.
I was able to find parking nearby. I know they take away bags but you can ket them know about your medical reasons. If anything they'll just have to check your bag in and out. Price of ticket when I went was 17.00 and you have to be 18
Call the museum
Sounds like the Karla Homolka and whatever guy she was married to muders. They actually let her out and she had 3 kids w some guy. Ick.
There are no real dead bodies BUT they do have some videos of autopsy’s on real people,I went when I was 13 and it wasn’t traumatizing just gross
The owner of the facility had them made by a local artist. You would have to call the museum for that specific person's name.
Your gonna have to do something ducked up to get in there! Or be a siamese twim!
You don't have to make an appointment.
No reservations needed. We just walked in one day
Why would you want to take a baby?
I believe kids are the same price but I dont know if there is an age limit because some of the exhibits are pretty gnarly.
You'd better call them directly about this one.
There are no stairs and no really narrow areas that I can recall. It's all on a single floor. There are a lot of letters and pictures higher up on walls that might be hard to see detail from a wheelchair, but I think otherwise it should be fine.
No cameras allowed. You're not allowed to use your cell to take any pictures.
Don't bring your child in.. that being said it's very small and narrow..
they tell you at the reception average 55 min. Well worth it no photos
Lots of shopping too
Yes it is. It is very interesting and you are going to have fun. And scare.
You have to come in and buy it
6031 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood CA
The website just says "hours may differ" so it likely depends on business.
The yellow chair is one of the electric chairs from Alabama state prison. It is one of two that still exists
You can actually check on the website it’s pretty easy and it shows what the crowds are like at certain times I got there at around 3 on a Sunday and it was very crowded
I mean i wouldnt think so since one of them states that they have the original items of people and even a mummified head of someone
I have not been to New Orleans. LA has a large collection of Helter Skelter and the Manson family, of course. But so much more. If you're going to both cities I would have 6check out both locations ☻ I will watch for your reviews!
It's totally worth it if you would like to see authentic artwork from serial killers. It also shows deathmasks made from celebrities. It is very fascinating...
If you have a weak stomach, I would eat after. There are lots of gruesome pictures and videos.
Its $17, but if you pick up their brochures that are kept in hotel etc, they'll give you $3 off that price
Nope. We just walked in with no problem.
You would be better off calling them with a question like this. This is a public forum.
There are photos of and a blurb about a woman (Jeannine Clark) and man (James Edward Glover) murdering and then taking photographs posing with the woman's boyfriend's corpse (Robert Beckowitz).
I'm pretty sure I was carded last time I went, but that may have been to purchase the tickets, not actually go inside. And they did turn away underage teens...
Why did you ignored it was children banned? Why did you keeping questions about it?? YOUR KIDS MAY BE KEEP NIGHTMARES!! YOUR KIDS WILL SCREAMING BY 3AM SAID "MOMMY!!!!"
There is an area with animal skeletons, but it's smaller. I'd say the focus is on humans with abnormal or gruesome deaths.
I think the caroetbagger did a videl but only in the front room
Come any time, be prepared for the consequences 😉
I saw people in there with kids but I think anyone younger than 15 should perhaps not go.
If you want to traumatize her then yes. If you care about her mental well-being then no.
A Valentine's day date at the Museum of Death is the most effective method of birth control i can imagine.
Standard atm and visa cards are accepted! Best to bring cash ! Save a buck!
