What else is there to do around this area? A group of us are really interested in going here but we would like to see other local neat things as well.

Lots of shopping too

Go do a ghost tour, a cemetery tour, walk the French quarter, go to the river walk, Harrah's has a casino on Canal St, take a city tour or go to the WWII museum and to Mardi Gras world. There are tons of things to see in NOLA...

There are a lot of things to do within walking distance. The French quarter has so much activity and entertaining you can just walk down the street and find things to do and also canal Street is mentioned above.

Canal St is just around the corner, it's more commercial, but fun. And the French quarter is near there as well. Definitely recommend that area!
