The Discovery Center is wonderful!! So much to learn! Lots of hikes to choose from and beautiful scenery. Slightly terrifying walking next to alligators but also awesome!

If you want to see a good cross section of central Florida wildlife, this is an excellent place to start. If you want a protected environment that safely separates humans from nature, this is not the place. Keep your eyes open and attention sharp as you take in the splendors of nature, while realizing you are not quite at the top of the food chain. Loved this place, but would've hoped for more cleared foliage at the edge of the path, to make spotting potentially hazardous situations easier. Overgrown with grass, alligator alley was a little unnerving for a newcomer to the south.

When I moved to Polk County, I fell in love with the parks & the lakes. The nature walks are awesome. Circle B is one of my favorites I enjoy it to the max every time I go. There are beautiful birds, turtles, alligators, squirrels, raccoons and the peace you feel inside is the greatest. Enjoy walks with friends, family & kids Highly recommend if your in the area

I tell my husband I’m going to the ‘bird show’, when I go here, because that’s what this place feels like to me. It’s incredible- there’s so much diversity here and it’s right on display as you walk down the trails. It’s like the birds are performing just for you. I love coming here after sunrise when the birds are most active. The wildlife photography opportunities abound. You’ll see lots of other wildlife, too- not just birds, but they are the main act for me. The marsh/swamp is beautiful and the live oak and cypress trees draped in Spanish moss give this place a very enchanting allure!

only if you sit in their mouths....haha. But seriously its always best to leave wildlife undisturbed people
Yes! you can bring your kids but watch them.all the time.
If you use a professional photographer, they will have to register with the Nature Centet and will be told where the photos can be taken.
They do close some for both.
Only if you give me one 😉 (for legal reasons this is a joke)
Yes, people do all the time
Alligator Alley has the most Gators , I have been there several times and still haven't seen him
I think so, but not sure
They've got alligator alley and rabbit run marsh I believe due to nest
As old as Florida. They're all native and it was just turned into a park around the ecosystem
The last time I visited there was a yellow sign posted that said it was open from 6am-8pm
Not at all.
Unless one is way of it's course, no, but I saw a tour group of kids riding around on one of the parks's ATV that was set up for groups so they might do tours.
There is a place inside for kids to learn and explore. A tree house and a fox hole and a large log but I don't believe there is one outside.
You should take someone you can outrun! Just kidding, I've never gone alone but I think it would be okay in the daylight. Every time I have been there it has been in the morning and lots of people are on the trails.
We went today (Jan 2 2019) and it was open,
I personally haven’t visited this park in October. It really depends on if any of the trails are closed. Usually due to flooding. Guarantee you’ll see some native birds.
If you don't mess with them they won't mess with you
There are certain parts of circle b that close due to flooding or seasonal things and specific places are cut off to the public
Plenty of parking in the reserve.
No. No food available at Circle B Bar Reserve. Many nature trails with wildlife. Bring your camera.
Yes but they are wild hogs out there digging up on the trails. Making some hard to roll thru.
No, its protected wildlife property. Im sorry. After going over your question again. I was speaking of indide circle B. I know you can fish at Marshal reserve thats on the corner of thornhill and winter lake rd (r540) its on the back side of lake Hancock
Most are flat but there are above ground roots. I find myself marching to avoid them.
Some trails go for miles, and all are unpaved, so make sure your scooter has the power to do that on an unpaved trail.
The lake trail
The parking lot and trails are open every day. The Nature Center may be closed.
Not at Circle B, but there is a new public boat ramp on the southern end of Lake Hancock. Off of U S 98.
Ride slowly and watch for animals on the path (and humans)
Not sure about that I do know a perfect place tho check out the sunken gardens
Needs to be directed to Polk County (which I am not). However, understand that the wetands on Circle B were created with wetands mitigation funds, not specifically for bird watching. The goal is to restore more natural wetlands which tend to be covered with vegetation. My understanding is the vegetation control is primarily directed at invasive exotic plants.
I can only say that each time I have been there I've seen alligators. No guarantee you will see them out of the water.
Fishing is not allowed in Circle B Bar Reserve. Fishing is allowed in Lake Hacock via a boat. But you cannot fish on the Circle B property.
Yes they are
There are always alligators , they only close alligator Alley during mating season
Last time I went, I saw all types of wildlife: the biggest vulture I ever saw(lucky they are scared of humans),a raccoon that decide to walk the trail broad daylight with us,and family behind us,alligators all along the trail, and in the water. I think I do remember seeing something about no dogs allowed because they are food to alligators. But they do have a website u want to double check.
Yes.
Easy to get to from Lakeland about 20 minutes maximum. Hotels/motels can be found in all towns around with quite affordable rates
Marsh Rabbit Run and Alligator Alley have been reopened.
Are the trams running?
Call ahead of time to be sure
Call ahead, thinking it might be open
Fishing is not allowed in Circle B.
For the trails, no. Trail availability is based on animals and weather. Great place to see mother nature. Make sure you have comfy shoes and water and fully charged batteries to take photos
Yes it will. It'll be hot. Don't forget water and sun screen
The alligators are wild but fear people and will run from peopl
I think if you had a really good motor chair, one that's got good battery life, then yeah, you might really enjoy circle B. On some of the trails (I think it's the treefrog trail?) There are a few muddy patches that might be a little tricky to avoid, but most of the trails are crushed, packed shell gravel and above the water line that I believe most mobility scooters should be able to navigate.
Electric mobility scooters are probably allowed but I think they would have a difficult time because the paths are not paved. However the tram could be a good alternative.
Mostly wood and water beautiful place to see some of the wild life
No. Walking paths. I did see some people on bikes. I'm not exactly sure if the bikes were supposed to be there or not.
Yes. It's open. I was just there .
Fishing is not allowed at Circle B.
No fees. You can ride bikes, just know the trails can have a lot of tree roots so are not smooth. Yield to wildlife. You can encounter gators of all sizes, you can wait for them to move out or turn around.
Theere are different hours for the trails and the Discovery Center. Discovery Center Hours Tuesday-Saturday Hours of Operation:9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday Hours of Operation:12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Trail Hours Monday-Sunday Hours of Operation:6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Standard Time) Hours of Operation:5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Daylight Savings Time)
There are grills on site. Outside grills are not allowed.
There is no cost and there's plenty of information and exploring. Have fun.
Happy Birthday Chase!!!
The visitor center may be closed, but there is access to the Reserve.
All trails open
That cart is for the guided tours only
Yes. Rough terrain and many times lots of people stopped or walking. Stop for wildlife crossing. If a gator is laying on a trail you can wait or turn around. Some trails may be closed.
We were there last week with most of the trails closed. Not much to see until more trails reopen.
Watch out for the Dino
Just WOW at that statement... This is Florida, pretty much any and every freshwater body of water you fish in is going to have gators.
No
Yes I do they will be grateful to have you work without them there a wonderful group of people
I wouldn't Bring Your dog there are gators everywhere even along and possibly on the trail. I'd leave your pet at home
Yes,I remember seeing a famous out there, the lady still had her wedding dress on while walking the trails
Yes absolutely I see the person above me hear told you that we used to be a ranch before it was a Preserve I hope you get to check it out because it is really fascinating and it's a wonderful walk or ride once you get out there you'll be surprised at what Wildlife you see we had the privilege of having an armadillo right at our feet one time we were out there other special moments with Wildlife work captured on video or photographs that I took her my phone well worth the trip out there
The name Circle B Bar refers to a ranch symbol or logo. It would be a circle around an uppercase B with a line below the b. It's an understandable question.
No charge, free entry, free parking. Best feal in town, highly recommend you visit.
There are tours through the park but no rental scooters
The one part of the trail is closed from damage from the hurricane. I dont think it'll be ready any time soon.
No
Mostly walking, few bike and some take shuttle tours.
No. There is a park on Thornhill Rd were you can ride if you have a horse
Its not open yet they have installed metal gates now
I tried last time i was there and someone in a truck that workked there told me to get rid of it. And they now have signs up saying no drones
It wasn't washed away but it is not fully open yet. They opened a small portion of it but that's all for the moment.
They open up reservations the first day of the month. They usually are filled within two days, so book early. There is no charge.
Closed off when I was there... Feb. 2nd.
Aligator Alley is still closed at this time. However they have someone who will be fixing the path. As for hours.. 6am to 6pm right now.
No swimming that I am aware of. Gator in the water.
There was alot closed after the huricane
Did you mean Alligator Alley?
The guided tour is free and you have to go in the center there and sign the book so I would imagine if you got there at like 7 in the morning 8 in the morning I think the tour goes a couple of times during the day so I think it was like maybe 8 or 9 when the tour started
I haven't been over there lately. I imagine at least some are open.
