Our home airport has changed over the decades to be a world-class arrival and departure destination. Like all airports at times it can busy but for the most part, it is not overly busy, which makes travel less stressful.
Terminal B is the new terminal replacing A for that title. Showing age there.
Inside are the usual small shops for snacks, food and last minute suvioners.

Probably my best airport experience as of yet. Not as busy as Denver or San Francisco, fairly smooth security process and plenty of amenities. Plus my sister is always here to pick me upπ

06/21/22: This airport has had some renovations the last time I visited 5-6 years ago and is much brighter and airier than before. The American Airlines customer service/ticketing counter is understaffed, but nice. TSA Precheck was super fast aka we were the only ones in line. Yay!! Not many food options to choose from.

Easy,. breezy airport. Not over crowded, ample dining, very spacious. Restrooms clean and people in and out quickly. Check in at Alaskan airlines was quick and effortless.
There is a free waiting lot that allows you to wait for up to two hours.
As for when you should arrive, I'd say that all depends on when their flight gets in.
Iβm sure there are other options, but the daily parking structure connects to both terminals and can easily be used to get between them. You can walk across the walkway bridge to the parking structure from the upper floor of terminal A. Continue across the parking structure to the other side and elevators down towards the end (signs will guide the way). There is a walkway bridge on the 5th floor of the structure that connects to Terminal B.
The security here took my babyβs rash ointment which was under 3.4 ml which is protocol. I asked them prior if we could bring it in his diaper bag if under 3.4 they said it was fine n when we got..

Not sure what kind of response you're looking for. What's done is done. You can't change it. When in doubt, put it in a checked bag.
My family and I have traveled all over the country without and ID's for our children who are 5 and 8 so I confirm the above answers as well. A definite no
Yes, long term parking is available with different options. Economy lot is most reasonably priced with shuttles to pick up and drop off in each section. I am unaware of the ability to reserve a space. If it were available, it would surely be astronomically priced!

Cdl and current will work for domestic flights only. Not sure why you dont have current documentation. It's a must anywhere you deal with personal information.
Using Google maps, put in the airport to see how many miles it is from your starting point then figure our how many miles your car gets per gallon then multiply number of gallons by the cost of gas where you get fuel. If your dropping someone off multiply by 2 for the return trip.
They are correct. There is a free waiting area not far from Arco. It is awkward to get to if you are a first-timer, so allow extra time to figure out the route or scout it out ahead of time.

I did see people carrying their pillows, but on spirit there really isn't enough room. So I just took a lil pillow that wrapped around my neck and it was perfect size.
In the long term parking, how long might you leave it and is it somewhat secure?
Ronald Zimmerman | Sep 1, 2021
anthony esposti | Sep 1, 2021
As long as you want and some what secure I don't believe someone is there all the time but they drive through I believe it is like $14 a day or around that
No vaccine required, however if you think you might be positive you should not fly unless you're tested. Can get into some trouble (possible jail time) if you fly and are positive.
You would need to mention it to them A head of. Time and call them when you are there at the drop off bay there is always security around and inside they are nice to help you just got to ask
NO, it is useless and just a way to waste your $... Even dmv workers that I go to don't even have it.
IMHO its pointless when you already own a πΊπΈ passport, so might as well use it. I've alwyas used my πΊπΈ passport ever since I can remember to avoid any issues at any airport in the states and everywhere I go when presenting an ID.
However, if you don't currently have a πΊπΈ passport it will be necessary in 2021 i forget which month to be able to fly domestically (within πΊπΈ)only.
And most definitely useless if you plan to fly internationally, so goes back to what I said earlier its best to have a πΊπΈ passport for both domestic and international flights βοΈ
Pg&e has not shut off the power to this airport if push comes to shove maybe but i doubt it because with it being an international airport this would have such a hight probably of causing an absolute travel nightmare with thousands enraged plus due to Sacramentos location it is not a sever fire rish giving a reason to shut it off so this should nt be a large concern

You may want to call airline you are flying for more information... this site is not affiliated with airport we only answer questions & provide reviews.
There is an IN-N-OUT BURGER in Woodland, north up the I-5 and there is one south in Natomas, down the I-5. Neither are really close but are fairly quick to get to because they're not too far off the freeway.
What airlines are you using? When you know that's a question for that particular airline to respond to. If it's an out of way town they can probably suggest smaller aircraft companies to use or try to get you as close to that area as possible. Good luck..!

Long term parking(open surface) is $13/day. And covered parking $29/day. Long term is ok if you're going for week/month.
Is it possible to pick someone up at the arrivals curb if youβre towing a boat behind your vehicle.
Mike Giannini | Sep 2, 2019
Sherry H | Jul 3, 2022
Yes. One way pick up lanes right at the terminals. But you might consider parking in the cell phone lot until y on ur party arrives to prevent circling multiple times. If it's crowded, length of the vehicle may be an issue to get parked at the curb though.
It has, Oakland and San Jose already have non-stop service via Southwest. SMF is up next when they make their next flight announcement. It would be nice if they make it by the end of summer.

Angelica Burrows | Sep 2, 2019
Tommie B | Sep 2, 2019
Check with the airline you used and both airports. Ask where a found passport would end up? If it hasn't been turned in you could call the U.S. post office about a replacement.
Does anyone know the latest you can do curb side check in for American airlines? Catching red eye.
Drivers license if your traveling in the U.S. If you're flying international you'll need an updated passport and visa for the country your traveling to abroad .
The Daily parking is physically closer to the terminals but the per day cost is more than the economy parking. That said, in terms of the actual number of steps dragging your luggage, the shuttle to economy parking effectively makes it closer.
Is using the parking lot for 4 days short term parking?? Thanks
randy payne | Sep 2, 2019
Tommie B | Sep 2, 2019
If you use short term parking that long (and I think that's acceptable) the max rate is $29 a day. Cheaper to use the covered garage, $18 a day max. Or daily lot, $12 a day max. Or economy lot (farther away but can use shuttle) $10 a day.
Drive to the "arrivals" part of the terminal. Drive passed the terminals and head back to the freeway. You will see signs for the waiting lot on the right before you get back to the freeway. Pull in, park and wait for a call from your party. There are signs that direct you back to arrivals terminal.
I really don't know. This is my first time ever getting on a plane. I'm really nervous and I just want everything to go smoothly. When I booked the flight it just says 6:15am
Need your boarding pass...and depending on which airline they will charge you a fee for carry on. With the holidays here I'd advise to show up 2 hours prior to your departure.

Yes, shuttle service should be running at that hour. It starts at 4 am. SMF is very busy early so you might want to give yourself extra time tho get to the terminal.
Also an option...have one of the SITOA taxis pick you up. All rides on the airport property are free.

There are rules for every airline and it will cost you. The website sheknows.com has an article "8 airlines that allow pets in-cabin". But then you will have to go to the airline of your choice's website. Why didn't you go there first?
Most airlines will provide assistance for seniors and disabled passengers. You should call the airline for information. Otherwise you could unload your passenger and their luggage at the departing flights area. Can they sit by themselves inside the terminal for 20 minutes while you park in the hourly lot? You could then walk in to check them in and take them through security and to their gate.

Know what the price is to leave my vehicle there over night or 2 bites?
If your flight leaves out of the same terminal, it will just be a short walk.
If it leaves from the other terminal, a tram/train car runs the distance between the gates and ticket counters/bagage area in the main terminal. You can't miss it as it is the only way to and from those gates.
I have no idea about Vape pens but you better read.and find out TSA Vape flying rules. I understand taht navigating TSA's rules can be huge hassle when flying with your supplies.
How many hours before flight must you be checked in at airport
Becky Parker | Sep 2, 2018
Tommie B | Sep 2, 2018
The new normal is 2 hours. But that is affected by how busy it is when you're flying. More people flying- longer lines at bag check and security. There's also heavy traffic to think about. So 2 hours isn't a bad idea.
You have two options. 1. Park in the hourly lot (it's a couple bucks an hour) walk inside and greet them as they come down the escalator to the baggage claim area. Isn't it nice to be met that way? Or... 2. Park in the "waiting lot" about a half mile away from the terminal (follow the signs, no charge to wait) and have your friend text you when they get their bags and are headed to the curb. Remember, you CANNOT wait at the curb by the terminal. You WILL be told to drive out and re-enter the airport. So... How well do you like your friend? #1 or #2 ?
I turned 18 a couple of months ago and don't have a valid id besides my senior year id from this year. I'm flying with my boyfriend who is 21. Can I use my school id as a form of id?

Is there a bus service that can bring someone from the airport to Sonora California?
You don't need to park, just drop them off from the street. You'll have a little difficulty trying not to block someone in but you should be fine. Trying to find parking for a trailer will be exceedingly difficult.
You can park at the mobile parking and when the person is ready to be picked up they can call or text you then you can drive to the terminal and pick them up front. Passenger loading and unloading only. Open up Sacramento parking map on line.
Typically federal regulations limit passengers to one small personal item (e.g. purse, briefcase) and one carry on bag (e.g. a roll-aboard). You should check with your airline for the maximum dimensions of the carry on bag before taking it. Also some medical devices (e.g. a CPAP machine, etc) may be exempt from this and might be able to be carried in addition to the small personal item and the carry on bag. But to be safe you should check with your airline or the TSA website for definitive details. This answer is just based on my personal experience (I am not a travel agent or familiar with specific laws and exact regulations, so please check with your airline).
book the ticket and gve them a copy of it ....they will pick the ticket from the airlne company locaton in the airport ...they will need to be in the airport 2 hours early....thanks.
There are stores like InMotion Entertainment in Terminal A and Brookstone inside Terminal B, but nothing that I could find for actual cellphone activation.
Hi, Jason. The TSA does not require ID for minors on domestic flights. We always recommend you contact your airline carrier for the most up to date information.
As you leave the baggage claim area, there will be signs leading you to the shuttle area. These shuttles cover the various parking lots and the car rental lot. Just wait for the shuttle bound for the car rental lot.
Economy charges $10 a day, daily parking lot is $12, and the daily parking garage is $18 a day. There is also an Hourly lot (next to Terminal B) which charges $29 a day.
The cost is the same either on short or long term parking, just depends on the lot you park in. Economy charges $10 a day, daily parking lot is $12, and the daily parking garage is $18 a day.
Not anymore. No curb side check in at all. All passengers must check in at the airlines counter.

How much is parking for 8 days
Olga Alonso | Sep 2, 2018
Johnny Bravo | Sep 2, 2018
Depends on which lot you park. Economy lot charges $10/day and for 8 days would be $80. The daily lot (right next to the covered daily parking garage near Terminal A) charges $12/day and for 8 days would be $96. And the daily parking garage charges $18/day and for 8 days would be $144.

Trudy Barbieri | Sep 2, 2018

Most items that have been confiscated are sent out for destruction daily. Check at the airport when you return. You never know.
Before passing through security, there are a couple small alcoves where people aren't usually hanging around providing a little privacy. There are also family restrooms that have lounge space.
I agree with the last answer. As long as it's packed, sealed, in an ice chest, and doesn't smell or leak, you will pay for cargo (extra baggage) or count as your carry on if it's within the weight limit. The airline won't assume any liability for the meat quality however, e.g. if the meat spoils or the temperature gets too high.
All parking lots are available for short or long term parking, the only difference is the cost between the lots. Economy charges $10 a day, daily parking lot is $12, and the daily parking garage is $18 a day.
Take 5 South then Interstate 80 west, exit el camino, which is first exit, located on the edge of Natomas. Great diner there too. Google Silver Skillet and ask for Jennifer if you eat there! For you fancy City slickers, also a black bear diner on the other side of el Camino
The cost is the same either on short or long term parking, just depends on the lot you park in. Economy charges $10 a day, daily parking lot is $12, and the daily parking garage is $18 a day.
Does Sacramento International Airport have a Currency Exchange? Sacramento International Airport does not have a currency exchange. The closest currency exchange bank is the Travelex branch located inside the Westamerica Bank at 300 Capitol Mall, Suite 150, Sacramento CA 95814.
I'd recommend sitting in the cell-phone lot and once your party has claimed their luggage, have them call you and you can pull up to the curb outside the arrivals building.
The cost is the same either on short or long term parking, just depends on the lot you park in. Economy charges $10 a day, daily parking lot is $12, and the daily parking garage is $18 a day.
Everyone recommends 60 minutes before an domestic departure and 120 minutes before an international. I am overly cautious when possible and use the 120 minute rule for all flights. No need to get frustrated over little things!!
You can go to Mexico w/o passport but will need one to re-enter US. Check with US Immigration, you might be able to one expedited for hardship issue. Good luck.
Go to Google search bar and type in, "show me roundtrip flights from SMF to LAX". Then use the calendar to select dates. This is the best way I have found to narrow down flights. Good luck!
The cost is the same either on short or long term parking, just depends on the lot you park in. Economy charges $10 a day, daily parking lot is $12, and the daily parking garage is $18 a day.
At terminal B. If you miss it, just go around again and pull in. No stress! It takes 2 minutes to go around the complex. And if you see it as you're going past, you can also pull over to the next airline and walk back a little ways! βοΈπ«π¬
