Optimal is 2 hours. Just in case something happens that you can't control, i.e. a flat tire, or paperwork issues.
I usually get to the airport about 1.5 hours before my flight. This gives me enough time to take the shuttle from the economy lot and go through security and get to my get well before boarding. This is for domestic flights with no checked luggage. If you are flying with luggage or internationally add more time.
Depends where your going. Domestic flights 1 to 2 hours early. For international flights 2 to 4 hours earlier. But check with your airline for best answer.
