As someone who volunteered to foster some kittens, I’ve had a really good experience, especially with Chelsey who was so patient and helpful when I had to give them back to be adopted. She was so caring and consoling, I’m so incredibly grateful she was the person there. Fostering is really a wonderful experience and the people at LCAS seem to do their best to care for the animals. It can be a busy place but it’s worth it to adopt an animal and save their life!

The staff is super friendly and very helpful! I highly recommend making an appointment. The only change I would like to see is a more secluded area for meet and greets. These poor animals are already highly excitable because of their surroundings so it makes it difficult to get their attention when you first meet them. A quiet area away from people and the other dogs would be ideal.

we got our baby boy finn (formally known as timmy). we lost our rescue pup in may and we were so heartbroken. we walked in as finn was being surrendered due to playing too rough with the previous owners older dog, it was a match made in heaven! he got booked in and adopted by us right away! shelter staff was super friendly to not only us but our boy. he just turned one year old. we will 100% be coming back for future pets. thank you lake county animal shelter for helping us mend our broken hearts!

Lake County Animal Shelter is beautiful. It is clean and the employees are wonderful. The man that greets you is so friendly, professional and efficient. The employees that take care of the dogs are fantastic. We have always adopted from this facility. I am happy they have a new one.

Call them they will come and get it. I had 2 dogs today that they came and got i hope the owner's get the back. They were good and beautiful dog's
Volunteers are always appreciated in all animal shelters! 😀
Yes lake county is no kill. They will only euthanize an animal if he she is severely aggressive, terminally Ill, or severely Ill but that is kind of rare. Maybe 3 per 100 sometimes no. Something like that.
You will have lots of vet records over the years but only after you adopt an animal first😂
Adoptions conclude at 4:30 on Saturdays and Sundays.
I believe so.
Call first to see what and when is appropriate
Maybe I could, How old is the rabbit,??
All kinds & I believe some puppies too? But, I don't work there
Get her and take to Lake County Animal A animal Control.
Not unless they are injured or dangerous.
They can take pigs, but, have a hard time placing them. Call first to see if they have room.
Yes
Believe so but will try to contact registered owner. If that's you, call them ask, doesn't cost to find out
The total cost to adopt a dog or cat is just $10.00. If you cannot afford to pay just $10.00 to adopt, then how are you going to be able to afford to feed, shelter, OR see to the needs medically? They also let you do what is known as a "Shelter Break" meaning that they will allow you to take the animal home, and give them a break for thirty days for no down payment and in return they give you the paperwork stating what medical attention as well as shots, spayed or nuetored, Rabies, Heart worm test's & results, etc... And at the end of the thirty days if you decide and can afford to keep the Animal, then you pay the ten dollars and they give you the the intake paperwork also. In my case, I knew that my dog had been severely abused by a man and where he and I Thrived together, my husband just reaching out His Hands to pet his face was enough to send him flat to the floor and back away from him in a nano second. Six weeks later as of yesterday, they are best friends.
I do not know i got there at around 11:50 and they help me and waited until we were finished
Lake County is a no kill shelter
Call them and they can give it to you,
Yes they give animals for free pretty often otherwise the price is 10.00 which is great.
You have to apply online at the Lake County website
Yes you do have to fill out an application and be approved. The animals in this shelter are very well taken care of!
Yes. You receive a statement documenting vacinations and spay/neuter
If you are a Lake County resident and the dog was not adopted from a different shelter (Marion, Orange, etc) then you can make an appointment on their website.
Look up local shelters & Try calling shelters around give them your dogs description... Hope you find your baby soon... If he's Microchipped it makes it easier n quicker to find out
Take her back to the animal shelter or go to a emergency animal hospital.
I do have a vet. Taking my cats today. One for losing his hair the other for upper respiratory infection I'm certain were present when I adopted my cats
You would have to call the shelter directly.
No
Yes they do. It's included in the price
Their not regulated by the state and not protected, so he can probably do that. You might check with animal control.
Call them and make an appointment. They will take your cat.
Anything you donate is acceptable as long as packaged.
Please call Lake County Animal Shelter they might or will be able to point you in the right direction. Thanks for Adopting 🐾
Yes as far as I know.
When I was there (two days ago), they told me it was the last Saturday of every month.
@Leeanne Mcdonald I'm sorry, but i asked about a rabies shot. I wouldn't trade Razzle for anything, im just asking where I need to get his rabies shot because I know they are mandatory. I love Razzle and wouldnt return him for anything, im extremely attached to him as he is my snuggle buddy
You'd have to check their website, but I don't think they do
Just caught Animal Control there in Tavares they will send someone out that was supposed to say just call animal control in Tavares they will send someone out to get them
How old is she? They will take her but it would be better if you could wait till she old enough to be spayed. She has to be at least 8 weeks old. And weigh 3 lbs
I have seen rabbits there
If you live in lake county call and see if they are looking. They may be able to shelter then for you and look for new homes for them. Just need proof of residency for lake county
Call an ask them.
They are definitely not a "kill" They go way beyond themselves to help all the fur babies that are there. Donations are a big help. Dog and gat beds, dog and cat food. Litter, leashes, etc. etc. What we get for our babies at home is the same thing they need.
They do, you have to call them
I have seen horses there.
U can also use apple cider vinegar and water mixed in a spray bottle. U can use it all over the house
No they don't do teeth cleaning. Try 441 vet hospital, reasonable, not great social skills. But affordable.
Call them and see..
What area lost? they'll call you if numbers current and they're called in
The animal shelter will take it and will check on the other animals if you ask them to.
LCAS only vaccinates animals adopted from them, there are several other vets that vaccinate cheaply, Dr. Kumar at 441 Animal clinic offers $5 rabies vaccines.
Have u called animal control?
They can at times have a wide variety of animals. But mostly cats and dogs.
Google lake county animal shelter number will show tap on it or call they will help you
Turn in to shelter, they will scan for chip and hold dog till owner is located. Not a kill shelter
Most shelters welcome volunteers of any type. The more interactions the animals get with people the easier it is to not only learn if the animal is friendly put also helps to get them adopted out. Call the shelter directly and speak to them. Also if they don't do service hours for your school it still looks good on a college application that you volunteered at an animal shelter. It shows you have compassion for others.
25 on up... Except if they are having adoption events which then the price is free or reduced
They have a hold for three days, if after that you must have proof that you were the owner of the animal (vet records, proof of purchase, vaccination records etc.) Present it to the manager, she will contact the adoptive party and if all else fails you can file a claim with the Lake County courts.
I know, they at times get a variety of animals. I've seen cows, horses, pet pigs, rabbits ect. Not sure, but I bet it's worth a call.
No.
There is one in Eustis, I saw it on Craigslist. You'll have to search for it though because I can't remenber the name. Sorry.
Turn jerks in
Yes
You would have to call them and find out good luck
They spay and neuter animals that are being adopted out and animals currently there. But I do believe you can pay a small fee for those services but I would call to confirm
I adopted a dog from there last year...im going on vacation and will need bording for five to six days....all places i have checked are too expensive...i have two dogs
There are a couple places that will cremate your fur baby...google pet cremation in lake county Florida.... I'm sorry about your loss. 🙁
Animal control for your area, found.org or try to trap the pup, chicken works best, trap covered with towel and left in vicinity where pup hangs out. LCAS only responds if pup is contained.
You no longer need to go buy county tags. They voted to discontinue them. Your rabies certificate is all that you need. I went down after getting my dogs shots updated and that's what I was told.
Try a local pet store, they will usually take them.
I'm not sure but if you call them they can tell you
I know it sounds cruel, I would put my dogs inside and call Animal control , To keep you and your animal safe
I came here to get my cat because it was $10. My local shelter charges $60. So, they have a great price here. Not expensive at all.
You have to call and make an appointment to surrender an animal...
They are not open today. They will open again on Thursday. There shouldn't be an issues with them picking up the cat. Just give them a call on Thursday
Lake County Animal Shelter is a no kill shelter so if you must surrender them they will do everything possible to find them homes. Try to hold onto them for Christmas just to give them the holiday. The shelter is very full and very loud. I'm so sorry that people do this to animals and thank you for taking them in when you were able.
An i.d. 20 bucks and general info on address etc..
Absolutely. He will be quarantined for 10 days minimum
5 total. Cats and dogs. Depending on where you live.
I think they isolated until it's checked out and the shelter is convinced that there is nothing wrong with the kitten before it is put in with other kittens
You really should go in and look!
The cats are spayed or neutered if they are at least a certain weight to have the procedure done. I adopted my kitten about 2 months ago but if I am correct they did not give my kitten a rabies shot so I ended up going to misfits in Tavares to have all the other vaccines that a kitten needs.
So nice to hear that you're interested in doing something like that in your life thank you so much. I wouldn't think they would have too much of age problem for volunteers but it wouldn't hurt to ask give him a call I wish you luck
I got a kitten from there in March and he was already litter trained. I know they feed their animals Purina, so dry Purina kitten food. However, my kitten prefers the Public brand food.
It's best to call the shelter directly because it changes frequently
If she is friendly, keep her. If not, get her fixed and release her.
You will need to document that you picked up this dog and that it is NOT yours. Go during business hours ( 10 to 5) Monday thru Friday.
Depends on what area you are from. You might want to call first
You should call them, i bet they would love your help, just not sure about your age, they may have a 16 minimum, never hurts to ask
Sorry that happened great place to get a dog I got a wonderful dog from there wouldn't trade him for the world
I don't like pit bulls. But that is not right someone should do something about it. He does not belong around pet's
Call and ask. The momma is just protecting her young she is probably not mean.
Take them to the shelter in lake county they are a no kill shelter
Yes they will...you can also put an ad online offering complete rabbit and cage for a cheap price on craigslist.
Hire a trapper or pour concrete in the hole.
Call animal control so they can trap them or try to trap them yourselves ..you can buy animal traps at Rural King in Leesburg. I think
Most cats I have seen while volunteering there will have a note about them and I have seen some who are positive for some health issues but they do come fully vetted and microchipped. Alot of their ailments aren't contagious and can be treated
No they don't anymore
Call the police
I would think after a year old but I would call a vet or shelter to be sure. .misfits in Tavares maybe able to answer your question and they are a great facility for your needs
I believe what Ashley said was correct.. on fees...but animals are fixed..had shots and microchipped too I believe! It's a great facility..i got my female dog from them..shes awesome!
