Is there a waiting period to adopt an animal?

I'd rather get a dog from a private owner. Less chance of kennel cough & other stuff. Just trying to help out a pound. Dog would be automatically brought to vet. I take very good care of my animals. So I'll just scan the newspapers for another dog(pup). Ty very much for the replies

Tracy, I believe it's 4 days. You have to go through a background check. If you call them they will be able to tell you the process.
