Lake County Animal Shelter is not a "No-Kill" shelter. They have implemented the "No-Kill" philosophy, however this does not ensure an animal surrendered will not be euthanized. This means that they will strive to only euthanize out of medical necessity or unrehabilatable adverse behavior. What most fail to realize is that their animal may behave a certain way at home, but become completely different in a shelter environment. Please always consider alternative methods of rehoming your animals before surrendering to ANY shelter. The shelter should be used for helping list pets reunite with their families, or to find new families if not reclaimed. The shelter is not a place for owned animals.
