If you're backpacking on the weekend it's $10/ vehicle for VA residents and $12 out of state. That covers Friday through Sunday.

Yes, fee for day use in accordance with VA State Park policy. If you camp, your campground fee covers the entrance fee. Since I camped, I'm not precisely sure of the day-use fee, but I think it's less than $10.
