Excellent camping sites. Clean bathhouse. Definitely need to make reservations. Park is remote. Don't run low on gas.
You need reservations. It is at full capacity many times during year. Excellent facilities. Even during summer nice and cool at night.....even a frost here and there.
It is a great campground BUT if you're traveling with an RV or trailer, we found the sites to be very uneven. The first time we went with our c 16' trailer we couldn't level it and they won't allow changing spots. SO in that case, bring _lots_ of extra blocks. The camp host was kind enough to loan us some wood so we could level. They're really nice but it's not something one should rely on. Bring what you might need!
It's a good idea to get reservations on the weekends and any holiday like the 4th of July weekend, you have the choice of a campsite that has water and electricity or a regular campsite, a reservation for the weekdays usually isn't necessary. It's a great campground.
I hiked the AT from the main parking lot to Mt. Rogers. No reservations needed when I went it was towards the end of the season first week in September. The spots are kinda rough but plenty of space
Oh right, your question. Attempt to make reservations at any state park! Duh!
