Ok ... thanks for the answers. I went only to view the Lighthouse and to eat dinner there. I was told by a very rude lady at the guard house that you must pay $8 or have a pass. She said there were signs along the road stating it ..... I guess they need better signs. I got to visit the Lighthouse and walked around a few minutes and even had an ok meal there but feel it is a bit of a racket to be honest. You promote a lighthouse and harbor as a great place to come see but send a message that, "oh, we really would rather you not visit unless you pay us extra $".
I am not a spokesperson for Sea Pines. The guest pass will give you access to See Pines. It's likely that the fee subsidizes the maintenance and security of the community. There is a separate charge to climb the lighthouse.
It's a racquet. Not really worth seeing
My issue is that I paid $9 and drove out only to find absolutely no parking places. So, I paid $9 for nothing. I drove in, drove out, and saw nothing but homes and a few shops which I couldn’t stop to visit.
Thank you for leaving a review. Your opinion is very important to us. Sea Pines is a private residential community with many commercial businesses. We can assure you that the gate fee revenues cover a lot of of the upkeep, maintenance and the security of the area. In the summer months we provide a free trolley transportation so our guests and visitors could enjoy the whole area without worrying about the parking. In addition to the lighthouse are many restaurants, shops , golf courses and outdoor activities , like dolphin cruise, dinner cruise ,pirate cruise, jet ski rental, kayaking, parasail ,deep sea fishing and much much more. Not to mention miles and miles of bike paths , South Beach Marina, Shops at Sea Pines Center and The The Sea Pines Forrest Preserve. We would love to encourage you to take the time and enjoy some of these wonderful activities. Kindly, Nadia
