Park Plaza Cinema Hilton Head Island

We visited Park Plaza Cinema yesterday afternoon to enjoy a matinee showing of Elvis. The cinema is different from most. First, it's a family owned and operated place. Second, the snack bar serves more than just popcorn, candy and sodas. You can actually enjoy a meal while watching the movie, with pizzas, burgers, wraps, and more on the menu. The seats in the theater are leather recliners with a food tray included. But if you care to dine before entering the theater, there are a few tables to enjoy some food or drink before the entertainment begins. The people who work at Park Plaza are friendly and the bathrooms are clean. I appreciate that we can pre-order reserved tickets before arriving. All I had to do was show the bar code from my phone to the ticket taker. He scanned it and gave us paper tickets to use in case we needed to visit the snack bar or restroom while the movie was in progress. My only criticism of the cinema was that the volume level of the movie was a tad low for my taste, and a little of the sound from the adjoining theater would sometimes bleed through a bit when the other movie got loud. But those are minor issues and certainly did not ruin our enjoyment of the film.

Clearly caught them on a bad day. All-day rain + good summer movies = overwhelmed staff. Ended up waiting ~40 minutes between food/ticket purchasing line and then ticket check line, practically body surfing it was so packed. Thankfully, they paused all movies until they were able to get us through. People were ringing up ticket and food orders and then walking away from the register without giving us the popcorn or tickets. For the next person to argue with us whether or not we paid and what we ordered. Finally made it to the front of the line, and the owner scowled at me letting me know "you cut in line." Incredible seats though (but not all of them worked), letting you put your feet up and snuggle.

Great little theater! Fair prices for movies and snacks. This is one of the CLEANEST movie theaters I have ever been to! I cannot stress that enough. No popcorn anywhere, no sticky seats, no gross carpet! The only 2 things that I didn't realize until I got there were 1. this is not necessarily a stadium seating theater. So if you sit towards the back, you will be staring at the seat in front of you unless they recline back a little. We picked out our seats when we ordered our tickets online, and we didn't realize that this was not stadium seating, so we were in the back row and the screen was blocked at times. This brings me to point 2: many people bought tickets at the door instead of online, and they did not realize or care that some seats were reserved. So they sat wherever. Through the previews and first 5 minutes of the movie, people who had reserved seats were asking others to move out of their seats, and it was pretty distracting to the audience. If there was a way for people who bought tickets at the door to understand where to sit, that would be helpful. However, despite all of that, I would recommend this theater 100xs. I was so impressed with the cleanliness!

Love the quaint and quirky feel of this family run place! The menu is quite large and the seats and overall movie experience are great. Only complaint is that the lights in the room flickered on and off sometimes during the showing which was weird, but otherwise no complaints and lots I liked.
