There is about 15 miles of single track trails. If you ride all the main trails both ways it makes a nice ride. I like riding Scout first. Then Cowasee which leads into Whippoorwill. Don't forget to take the Swamp Fox loop off of Whipporwill. Finish Whippoorwill. Then take Splice to the Laurel road crossing which leads to Knot. There is High and Low Knot. Low is better. I usually take Low Knot back to the parking lot, then backtrack taking High Knot and reversing the rest of the trails. The trails are almost all single track and are generally well maintained. There are good signs and a good map you can take with you that you can pick up at the visitor center. The trails are well packed sand and can be ridden even in the rain. They stay pretty hard packed unless there is a prolonged dry spell. Even then they only get loose in a few places.
Hiking Trails: Certain trails at Poinsett connect to the Palmetto Trail which goes through Manchester State Forest and Mill Creek County Park. Permits are required for biking and equestrian activity on Manchester State Forest. Please visit their website for more information. Hiking trails that can be accessed from the park include: Coquina Trail, Laurel Group Trail, Hill Top Trail and Scout Trail. The Santee Passage and Wateree Passage of the Palmetto Trail can also be accessed from the park. Please visit their website for maps and more information.
About 25 miles of trails, all may be used for mountain biking. There is a section of one trail that is currently closed. We hiked at Poinsett but it looked the mountain bikers were having a lot of fun.
