We enjoyed a drive to Lake Owyhee State Park on April 10, 2022. Beautiful Spring colors starting to appear from our neighborhood, to the farmlands west of Eagle, into Canyon County, and as we followed along the Owyhee River Canyon. We saw a lot of folks fishing and a fair number of families camping. Nice day trip; four hours out n back, we packed our lunch and did our “picnicking” in the car with an outdoor temperature of 48 degrees with wind. Absolutely worth the time to take this trip. We are scouting places we might someday like to camp.

This is a great place to catch crappie as long as the water is warm enough. Early in the season it looks pretty bleak but with the proper amount of rain in the watershed to the south it fills up. My wife and I have been fishing here for decades.

The facilities here are great. This is a great fishery with beautiful scenery. The road to get here is narrow and care must be taken. Camping here is castle free and the campgrounds are well taken care of. We did not see any signs prohibiting fire yet a ranger approached us and had us extinguish the fire. Would have been better to post or make more readily visible the no fire sign.

Absolutely beautiful! Not one sighting of any rattlesnakes! Serene, breathtaking, and definitely worth the time to get there! I can't wait to go back. The park was clean and the hosts were a delight!

I've never been in the trails myself but I know plenty of folks that take their horses out there to ride.
No
There are a lot of boat ramps
More of a boating/ fishing environment. There are campsites down river with more trail like accessibility.

You can park an RV in the unimproved areas below the dam in winter as long as you are not blocked by snow.
There is a campground. There aren't really any "hiking trails", but there is a lot of country where you can go walking.
It has slowed down up here with fishing. Should pick up more with the warmer weather! The bathrooms are primitive in the first boat ramp and Indian Creek, the McCormack camp is the only one with full plumbing. Dogs are allowed, however, Oregon does have a leash law inside state parks.
