Is there a path that's better for families with children? Last time we went we drove all around the gravel roads and couldn't figure out the best path??

There definitely is a path that's not to bad. Kids and old folks took it. Drive miles down to the end almost there is a white sign on a tree like 200 yards before a little park area That's the trail. Then 80 yards in it forks. The left is quicker and way steeper. The right fork goes around the drop off and works back to the left. Its the easy trail. Kids where all over when I was there.

I saw a couple take their kids down the easier of the two paths available. They looked about 4-6 years old. So it is doable just have to be careful

How far is the hike from the trail sign?

Sheila Faulkner | Jan 28, 2019

I would not take children that have not hiked before. Abiqua can be a challenge for adults.

Just don't go to the last entrance though! Me and my buddy went through that one and we didn't know what we were getting into lol. The other trails seem to be easier for kids and dogs...still gotta becareful

Yes. It's a little challenging to find. The path is not marked and the road is not improved.

It's pretty steep in many of the sections, I think it might be quite difficult with a family.
