Great hike. Good variety of vegetation. More views of the lakes would have been nice though. Mosquitoes were relentless.

Several lakeshore campsites and level walking trail with the exception of of just one little hill.

They're clearing out many trees on the first part of the trail, so it's not as covered as I thought. Once you get to the backside, it's very lush and beautiful, with the lakes. -Bring big repellent. Trails are clearly marked and parking lot is accessible down a gravel road. Definitely worth the visit.

Fantastic system of trails with several loops. The trails also hook up with the Lumberjack Trail. The Escanaba Trail provides gorgeous wooded stretches, bogs, and a few stunning lake views. Lots of walking along ridges in the woods, so there are a few steep inclines, but nothing truly strenuous. I found nothing expert about the red loop, aside from its 8.5 mile length—stay hydrated! Vault toilets are a short walk from the parking lot, not far from the trailhead.
