Every meal has always been a great meal at Jar. The pot roast, filet, halibut... always fantastic. Brussel sprouts as a side for each of the above. Mocktails are a welcome addition to the beverage menu.

2nd visit, weak & absent server this time, lovely & devoted chef owner Suzanne visited our table & oddly touched my food with her bare hands…huh ? I guess chefs do that nowadays? Food always interesting & yummy. Maybe add a yummy chocolate cake dessert one day? 1st timers, never heard of prior to an OT search, came as both GREAT reviews & looking for memorable gourmet American dinner. And that was EXACTLY what it was. The full owner & chef is Suzanne Tracht, and we got to meet her by accident as we were leaving (she was visiting an old friend of hers near the bar edge). Wow, what a lady & life & DEVOTED foodie & chef & total delight! Our Drinks & both apps & 2 entrees with 2 sides were spot on, A, 100% delicious!!! Only the ccc & sorbet desserts were mediocre & not memorable. The room & building are simple but fun. Def a gem in the sand, the chef owner a diamond. Yummy.

Delicious classics and many reinventions. The atmosphere is so regal and chic but not overly done. It is a true exception in San Francisco in terms of service and atmosphere. The food is good if not great and i would choose Jar for many good conversations with close friends to discuss life changes while having a meal deserving of the occasion

Jar is not open Mondays. Valentine's Day was an exception.
Yes, and there is street parking too but check signage.
