I had to recently put my cat to sleep due to old age and declining health. It was one the hardest things I’ve had to do. He was with us for 20 years. I chose this place due to it being a bit cheaper for euthanasia and cremation services since I’m financially strapped at the moment, however they said they couldn’t accommodate family being present. My cat was not just a pet, he was immediate family. He was our love and joy. I find it shameful that they can’t figure out a way to accommodate families to be with their loved one during the euthanasia process. To hand your loved one off to a stranger to be put to sleep is not only humiliating and disgraceful but terrifying for the Animal. I wasn’t going to post a review about this place but when I went to pick up my cats ashes, The lady that gave him to me immediately said oh I’m sorry for your loss but we have many other animals up for adoption. She was so insincere, and just looking to get more money. This place is a cash making machine with no regard for the animals or the people. I wouldn’t recommend ever going here for any kind of service.

A really nice shelter with great staff and sweet animals 😊

Wonderful Pets Hotel/Shelter & Adoption Center💙❤️💚🤎🖤💛 My 2 English Springer Spaniels stayed here for free for a couple nights because I had to have major back surgery and I'm very poor so they were a big help! This place will care for your family fur babies up to 10 days and you can rest assure they are in great hands here! Foothills will care for most animals & breeds🐕🐈🐎🐖🐇🦔🐑🐦🐢🦅 Thank you again Foothills Animal Shelter for your love & support caring for my babies! 💞 🕊

Very clean.

Ya, you can just walk in and ask to take the dogs outside, but the puppies have to stay inside in a room when you visit them.
I think the leader lady is named Mary Beth if I'm not mistaken when I was there.contact her or someone in charge the phone menu of running around but there is a way to get through to people.
Usually same day unless it needs to be nuetered or if it just arrived and hasn't been processed yet. I didn't need to show any thing but my ID.
The best place to find a Pomeranian or any braid is to go to the Pomeranian Club rescue sometimes they have rescued and they'll give you a list of breeders that are reputable
If you go to the Foothills Animal Shelter website it has a wish-list of things they need/would like to have to benefit the pets!
Towels, blankets but not sheets :)
8 weeks or older
I'm a sense I agree with the price. Older dogs are adopted less frequently than puppies. Everyone wants a puppy or younger dog. Very few are willing to adopt an older/senior dog given their years are numbered. With a puppy you are paying for initial vaccinations, socialization the staff put into these babies, spay and neuter. $500 for a puppy is relatively cheap vs. buying one from a breeder. Are you pay willing to pay $500 for a puppy and. 10 yr old dog? Probably not. That money for puppy also funds and helps fund the rest of the shelter.
They want you take the dog out before you adopt.
We got our puppy from this shelter at 10 months and she was spayed.
Foothills Animal Shelter is an open-admission shelter meaning they take anything and everything within Jefferson County. They do not euthanize for space or time, only for medical needs that they are unable to assist with or behavioral tendencies that can cause a liability to the public.
Jackie, you have to wait until enrollment rounds and everyone has to do it as an individual
Post a description and where you found the animal on pawboost, nextdoor, facebook & craigslist. You can also give a heads up to your local animal control and animal shelter with your info. This is where people start looking when their pet takes a walk or doesn't come home.

Thank you for your interest in adopting from Foothills Animal Shelter! The adoption center numbers you see on their profile are their kennel numbers at the Shelter. All dogs available for adoption are at our Shelter located at 580 McIntyre St in Golden unless the pet is listed as available for adoption from a foster home.
Hello! While we appreciate the donation, we unfortunately cannot accept open pet food. However, Colorado Pet Pantry would gladly take that off your hands!
Take the dog to the vet. The animal shelter should have given you some paperwork about the vet coverage available to you as part of adoption. It will cover some amount of whatever is wrong.
Hi Nick. We are sorry to hear that your pet is missing. Unfortunately, there is not a way on our website to upload a photo of your missing pet. You can do this through Petco Love Lost, there website uses facial recognition and can help search for your missing pet, www.petcolove.org. We also have missing pet tips on our website, foothillsanimalshelter.org/search-tip.
Just give them a call
Foothills has a vet there.... Most of the time. And they used to house birds. So they're not a bad start
We do have bunnies available for adoption! Visit foothillsanimalshelter.org to learn more or come directly to the shelter, we're open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
They will ask a series of questions - all hopefully helping in finding a new home. After that to they have a behavioral specialist work with your dog to ensure success in finding a home
Yes you can just walk in
Well.you can wrap him in a blanket and take him into Ft Hills and they will ask what you would want do. Cremation? Dispose of ? They you pay them to do that. Not sure on cost.
We just did our dogs vaccines last week. They should have a schedule for you I would call
They're always open.
I don't know, but the front desk people are really nice so give them a call.
They will accept as long as its unopened in its original container.
Currently there is a wait list to see the animals. It's first some first serve. They only allow a few people at a time. Here's the website below https://foothillsanimalshelter.org/services/adopt/
Kittens are hard to come by. You have to regularly watch the shelter's adoption page and be prepared to go immediately if one comes up. If one comes up at the end of the day (they close at 2 PM) then you should show up an hour or so before they open (10 AM) to make sure you're first in line! Good luck!
Bring them in
Adult cats are normally around $50-$75 but seniors are less or there is no fee, all about getting these babies good homes.
You do! It is a front and back page. Do know you must be able to and want to adopt in order to visit with an animal.
Anything in a factory sealed package. Also things like laundry detergent and soft towels/blankets.
Call your regular vet - my vet came to my house to euthanize my dog, then took her remains for cremation. It was better than putting her on a cold metal table. If your vet doesn't do that, ask if they know who does.
Its a awesome idea, worth a call to find out. I know the Denver zoo does or use to allow wedding parties. Good luck
In order to become a volunteer you have to fill out an online application which will usually open in the september. For the training times the Volunteer coordinator will be in touch with you after she has gone over all the applications!
You must be 18yrs or older to visit with any animals.
Yes
There was an answer from a year ago that said no to getting dog back. I would imagine you would have to pay some kind of fees because they boarded the animal for however long it has been. Good luck
I'll take them!!
no
I am not sure if they do, does anyone else know?
16 and above
If your dog was bit by a coyote you need to call Animal control in your city and report it. Also find your vaccinations records showing the dog is up to date on rabies vaccinations. Then take the dog to your vet and get a rabies booster regardless. Rabies is very serious and almost always fatal in both domestic animals and humans.
The longer you wait the more it will be
He's a dog...it happens. Take him back and find another match for your family. Or give him some more time, he's probably had a rough life.
Yes
Yes, you'll be able to get replacements. There will probably be a nominal fee, and you'll still have to get new tags at the regular time though.
I think the typical adoption fee for a rabbit is ~$25. And no, typically it won't come with a cage, bottle, or dish. If the rabbit came to the shelter with those things you might get lucky and they'll be included with the adoption, but by no means should you count on it.
Clinics do not euthanize Court ordered. The Animal can be surrendered to the shelter they will determine at that point whether the dog can be fostered or taking care of somewhere else
I dont think they will be accepted, similarly to rabbits wild and domestic mice are very different and require unique care
Yes.
No, they are not a "no kill" shelter, though their rate of euthanasia is significantly lower than the legal requirement to be called a No-Kill Shelter. They choose not to apply the label though because they do on rare occasions euthanize an animal if it is very ill with no hope of recovery. They do NOT euthanize animals because of any arbitrary deadline for adoption. In fact they recently adopted out a cat that had either been at the shelter or in foster-care for 18 months. If the animal is healthy, they will continue caring for it until it finds its forever home. The issue with some No-Kill Shelters is that they will only accept highly adoptable animals (i.e. cute or popular breeds), whereas FAS will take darn near anything, and will do their best to find it a home.
Very reasonable and animal comes with shots, and everything required such as spray neutering, and you get a free veterinarian visit
Try calling Planned Pethood
Thanks Jolea. I had to leave a voicemail with them but wanted to check while I waited for a call back.
The shelter updates their website daily with dogs available for adoption (not for sale) so you should look there and also make sure you understand the needs of a dog like a husky before making a lifetime commitment to them. Good luck!
I believe they do
No fee to surrender an animal but you do have to sign a couple things
I've gone in and asked to play with them in a visit room and they let us
No appointment necessary. Distemper/Parvo $20 Rabies $15 Bordetella $20 Microchip $35 Licence for all cats and dogs over 4 months in Jefferson County $20 🐶🐺
If your dog is sick and there aren't any medical options to save his life then you should take him to your vet and ask that he be sedated and euthanized. Bringing him into a shelter just to kill him is betrayal and cruel. If he is not sick, or can be helped, please find him a loving home.
Yes they do take animals that you are no longer financially able to care for, or if your housing situation has changed Etc. This is a very loving, rehabilitative and non kill shelter. Anybody that says anything different is hateful and telling a non truth. That could be categorized as slander. I can certainly tell by the person's inability to spell that they are of a diminished mental state anyways. Don't ever feel bad if you have to surrender your dog or cat or horse - or any pet that you have. People's life circumstances change due to no fault of their own. So anybody that accuses you of betraying your dog needs to mind their own business and stop being so judgemental. You do what you need to do for you and your family and your dog will be loved and rehomed. Best of luck to you.
I think they're probably about the same at most of the shelters I prefer Foothills and maxfund I wouldn't buy anything from the Dumb Friends League if my life depended on it I bought a dog they lost it when they took it down to have it or spayed and it was almost 5 lb two men lost a 5lb dog the poor thing was scared to death my guess is they sold it at the back of the truck if you really want to know but I never got my money back but probably around $100 or so Foothills can tell you about how much but be aware of the temperaments and stuff. Especially if you already have another dog you'll want to introduce some slowly and make sure that one is not food aggressive it opposed to the other if you have any questions I can give you my phone number or contact Foothills they have the phone number if you have any questions Christopher just have them get in touch with me
Basically it is...they adopt out every single animal that has a chance to make it in society. The dog that's bit five people no, they won't adopt out. They go above and beyond to provide vet care, do surgeries and anything for these homeless animals. They just don't add no kill to their name which is misleading anyway.
I'm sorry I don't have any baby kittens your best bet is to check any kind of rescue depending on what kind of catch you want I'll look around and see you can check the shelter's there was some beautiful cats when I donated at Foothills but I would never in my life recommend the Dumb Friends League maxfund however is a good place too sorry cat you want what breathe there's quite a few braids and quite a few breeders you might look up cat breeders and see what they've got
NO
Yes you can. They have an animal intake area.
I do all the donations and help when they need it however it depends on what kind of dog you want if it's a purebred you can call one of the purebred clubs and they have rescue dogs available for adoption and they're not as expensive as a shelter and I would cut my hair before I adopted from Dumb Friends League maxfund you might call and talk to them they're better than Dumb Friends like they lost a dog I went to rescue but if you have any questions you can call me or text me at 7:20 545 4038 I can give you email address also I've read and Shone Shelties for 30 years and worked at a Veterinary Clinic I also studied Behavior and dogs and good at making sure that the right tempered dog gets to the right tempered person if you can call I can give you a better detail and maybe a connection to someone as a dog for sale at a reasonable price but I can at least steer you in the right direction
What I understand you can, but each time you go in you have to have someone there from the volunteer department or one of the other departments make sure you have a letter each time with the hours spent with the date. And a signature and the courts will allow it. I would make sure you have a letterhead
Yes, they can. I don't know the exact process, but you can relinquish a dog, cat, or small animal at FAS.
They definitely accept volunteers.
They very frequently have rabbits, as Lisa suggested your best bet is to check the "Adopt a Critter" section of the website.
Look on Google under Maltese and get the name of some breeders and they can tell you approximately how much they are all of them are different five minutes earlier you would if you take a puppy too a shelter I don't know where you live but the shelters are less expensive my vet comes to my home she's a house called that and I've had her since 1990 and I'm in Colorado. The shorter nose dogs usually have problems with anesthesia because they have what they called brachial cephalic so make sure you get a good one. I'm not sure that all of the shelters Deuce spay and neuter for a dog that isn't in their shelter but all I know is I can find out from my vet because she does surgery only on Wednesdays because she's a house called that and she can give me a good idea how much it would be down it off of coal mine and 470
hi Ed. One of my Shelties got loose from friend of mine and a car didn't exactly hit her but draugr she's 13 now having some hip problems but she was at that shelter and I was extremely impressed as I am with Foothills they took Karen bandaged her feet where the car dragged the only shelter I would never in my life use has that main shelter from Denver
I would use ANYONE else. I've never had worse experience with a company.
