No, they are not a "no kill" shelter, though their rate of euthanasia is significantly lower than the legal requirement to be called a No-Kill Shelter. They choose not to apply the label though because they do on rare occasions euthanize an animal if it is very ill with no hope of recovery. They do NOT euthanize animals because of any arbitrary deadline for adoption. In fact they recently adopted out a cat that had either been at the shelter or in foster-care for 18 months. If the animal is healthy, they will continue caring for it until it finds its forever home. The issue with some No-Kill Shelters is that they will only accept highly adoptable animals (i.e. cute or popular breeds), whereas FAS will take darn near anything, and will do their best to find it a home.
