Definitely a place to visit with the family and the stars at night are amazing. They opened up a little convenient shop that has a few items just in case you forget something. The staff there was super friendly and helpful. I would recommend if your are in Oklahoma to visit here

Loved camping here. Dark sky at night. Nice hiking trail within campground. Great park host.

I had some good and some bad on our trip, the park rangers where awesome, nice people very informative, if not for the help they where able to provide this would have been a disappointment. some good hiking trails, kids loved the old school playground, just swing set n merry-go-round but as our part of the state has nerfed all the playgrounds you can't find a merry-go-round or tall swing set anymore..very clean bathroom and showers.... For the bad we couldn't see the milky way due to the time of year, the park ranger had some slide device she was able to tell us times and directions to view but it was to low on horizon to see at this time of year. We had a dust storm roll in and we did not know that the cactus was the main form of vegetation. seems like if it grows there it's Gona have spikes that wait to ambush unsuspecting feet. This is all natural or our ignorance of the environment we where going to so I can't complain. the only thing that lost them a star was the septic watering system, not sure what went wrong but it smelled terribly when they came on. I'm assuming that was a problem and not the norm. So for anyone looking at going summer is when you get the good night sky and bring boots.

Absolutely stunning! We camped during spring break which is apparently not the best weather but it was still a great trip. Hiking to the summit and being able to see the mountains of colo is an experience! Will be back again and again. Be sure and take what you need...there is no store close.

All sites are by reservations now, rv and tent. You can make all reservations at travelok.com
No. It's simply an envelope system to pay for your site. But the sites are first come first dibs
Yes. Not at each campsite, but there is water by the bathrooms.
Ack. I was just there. I could have taken one. There is only one at the campground. Not sure about the lake itself. The one at the campground is a wide spot along the stream. The water seems low right now and it looks a little greenish and mucky. That said, a group of kids were just in it and they seemed quite happy with it.
No, did not see any day or evening.
There were areas where we didnt see mosquitoes. There was one trail close to the campground and the mosquitoes were vicious.
Not even close. Lake Etling is small. Tends to dry out and if you are looking for a river, it's not here. This is the high plains, as in high plains drifter. For water sports, you will want to look elsewhere. If you are looking for great Vistas and solitude to get away from it all, this is the place
@ Josh D. Travelok.com is where you go to make all reservations @ aron Becker. The tent sites now require reservations just like the RV sites. You can go to travelok.com to set up and pay for the reservation there. You can still go to the park and find your site first and then make the reservation online as long as it is not taken. And the wifi has been updated so it is faster now to allow people to use their phones, tablets or computers on wifi to do so. And the park manager, polly kiker can always help. However, right now my family and I, the camp host family, are not at the park since it is a very slow time of year and quite cold. But anytime we are there we are more than happy to assist anyone with anything they need. @ Eric Stephens aka Okierover. All transactions are done online now with credit or debit card. Cash is no longer accepted.
Kathy Sluiter...is this closure new? Spent the weekend before Christmas and it was really nice
During rattlesnake season it is not unlikely to find a rattlesnake. However, in the event you do see one please let the park manage, park worker, or camp host know so we can move the snake. All rattlesnakes are kept alive but moved outside of the park, all other snakes are merely moved away from public area to a safer area for everyone's safety and happiness.
There is room for a hammock. Depends if you want to tie it up to trees...
Campfires are allowed as long as there is not a fire ban in effect. Always pay attention to the fire threat. I do not know if swimming is allowed in the lake.
No. And the locals are the shoot first ask questions at the funeral type.
The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, flathead catfish, walleye, and smallmouth bass, sunfish, channel catfish, bluegill, and rainbow trout. Carp, tiger muskie, and alligator gar can also be found in the lake.
RV sites are open air
There are trees, some big ones, but we were trying to hammock camp and could not at this park.
She lived in Boise city, but recently moved. I don't know where. Look her up on Facebook
