Family and I came from Norman today to swim. It was the hottest day of the year so far and this was much needed to stay cool! Not too crowded and water felt wonderful. Make sure you have proper water shoes ;)

Lovely woods walks near the nature center where the shade brought the summer temps down and the park staff had a pop-up to talk about owls. The swimmin hole at Little Niagara was awesome! Also, bison spotted not far from the park.

Look it's free and you cant beat that, but that makes it extremely popular. So imagine hundreds and hundreds of people with no where to park. In fact, imagine driving around for an hour or 2 looking for a place to park. That is my main complaint for this park, they need to create more parking, especially near the falls. U cannot park along side the road in grass or u will get a red sticker and risk being towed. They have no rangers out assisting with parking. They have plenty of places they could create more parking so I am not sure why they have not. Also the do not send u out at certain times, they are open 24/7, quite unusual for a park. U can swim at night if u so desire.

Gorgeous park. Several different areas including two lakes, a bison overlook and two streams. Places for hiking, camping, picnicking, fishing, boating, and swimming. No general admission fee. The park is kept surprisingly clean. Deer are a common sight in the park. This park does get VERY crowded during peak season and the campsites are very close together. The main swimming areas in the stream get very full. I would recommend going during the spring or fall for anyone who doesn't want a ton of people around them. The nasty smell in some places comes from the mineral water the town of Sulphur gets its name from. The history of the town and park is very interesting.

No entrance fee, only camping space fee. Yes allowed to do BBQ there. Bathrooms are okay they have showers too.
Yes, overnight camping is allowed with a small fee. They have fire pits in the camp site also. There are restrooms and it is not that far to a Walmart in case you forget anything.
On the lake you can kayak, there is a rental place over by Buckhorn.
Was it open?
The park itself is open 24/7. The Travertine Nature Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (September through May) or 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (May to September).
Yes you can bring pets
Quite fun! The water is always cool no matter the temperature outside. There are multiple swimming sites, waterfalls, and picnic spots. Camping spots are throughout the park, lots near the water. Bromide Lookout is a must visit! It's a short hike and you can see for miles. Veterans Lake offers fishing and swimming. There is a paved path circling the the lake for walking, running, or biking. Come visit! You'll have a great time!
In my opinion the water is always yo cold lol bu th not the water right now is the same temp as summer temps it's always super cold it's coming straight from the aquifer
Nothing free to public
Tickets? To get into CNRA? You gotta be kiddin. I've went to park for 50 years & you've never had to buy entrance tickets to enter CNRA. You have to pay to camp, but never to enter national park. Curfew for day use areas in Travertine district is whenever Ranger tells you to leave. We've picnicked til after 10 at Bromide Pavillion, and were not told we could not by park Rangers.
You can camp you can have a fire they even have like you can fish at you're asking about permit you have to have a Oklahoma fishing license
There are sites with electric and they cost most and then you can make reservations those are next the last is walk-in you pay then. I stayed 2 nights reserved no electricity and at Buck horn campground it was 32$ for both nights the bath n showers were best I've been to in a long time. Highly recommend. The swimming at Little Niagara close by is free and also lake is free they do have little barbecue set ups with benches and table near both free
Absolutely! The fishing is very good. Especially around veterans lake. If you go towards the dam you will see a gravel road, that will lead you to one of the BEST fishing spots I've been to. Fishing is definitely aloud as long as you have a license
There are several different trails of differing challenge levels. Lots of wildlife.
Yes. There are plenty of camping spots. You pay for each day.
We just stayed one night for $14 at Rock Creek.
In 1855 was dedicated to Chickasaw tribe and in 1902 the Chickasaw sold the springs and 640 acre buffer to the department of interior wish the stipulation that the springs and the parks would be open to everyone for all generations. It was then exspanded in 1906 and in 1976 it was exspanded again and designated at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
there is lots of water including a lake in the area i've personally not been bitten by many while there depends on the season. as for poison ivy i have seen some areas with it. but those are more in the wooded trail areas and i've not seen any actually on the trail just off to the side about 10 to 20 feet from trail.
Yes pets are allowed and the campground. The rules regarding pets are the same as any other National Park. We take Frank and Thelma with us every time we go.
The Office in Sulfur sells them as well as the office at the Travertine Nature Center. I would go to the Nature center first.
Depends are you using a boat
I would be inclined to say leave it at home, but your best bet is to call ahead ask the the Park Ranger.
You can do that anywhere you like if you don't mind the probability of incarceration 😂
if they are like two miles where is the campsite, the lagoon is very soft for swimming
If from what I found out they rent cabins and you can go to camping houses per place, 2 to three cars are parked and up to 2 or 3 campaigns
They are allowed on a leash, as far as in the water off leash if your pet is not causing any safety issues, they normally let the swimming slide.
Thank you tons! We just moved to the Ardmore area 9mo ago and I’m looking for new places to ride and take photos ❤️❤️
It's not free in the camping loops. Tent camping was around $15 a night. Erick, where are the free beach spots?
They do
Yes there are. On their website or call the main park office.
Only where the sulphur springs are located. Certain water areas only. The town does not...
Yes there is rv spots. Their should be a number you can call
Among campgrounds A,B,C,D, the campgrounds C has to be reserved online through https://www.recreation.gov/ You might find the information about campgrounds C from the website which should also be applicable to other campgrounds.
$30-16 with out
Camped 2 weeks ago at $16 a night. I reserved the campgrounds through recreation.gov
Really beautiful place ,no entrance fee ,little Niágara falls awsome
It varies, I believe it should be around $30-32
There are several different ones around the area and I believe the cheapest ones are like $90 a night. Hope that this helps a little.
Coming to the corner with highway 7 and 177 is the information center, if not on the website
I know dogs are allowed at Buckhorn day swimming area but not in the springs in Sulphur. Such as Little Niagra, Travertine, Rock Creek & Cold Springs... None of those creeks are dogs allowed.
Yes they are, but it is best to try to reserve in advance.
I went 2 weeks ago and it was. However, the visitor center was closed and the road leading to it was. But the trails are all still accessible
I'm not sure. Possibly, just call the office and they will be a le to answer your question.
Yes, deer hunting is allowed in certain areas of the park, but you're subject to strict NPS regulations and a scarce deer population on the small grounds of the park. The nps.gov website will have details, restrictions, and maps for hunting in this park.
No hot springs. There are cold (67-73°) springs
Little Niagara is pretty easy to get to.
Not sure might want to call them
Yes to buffalo but they wander in their enclosure. Nothing to go and look but staying/ camping costs some but not much.
No go to Tenkiller Lake 50 and 75 ft jumps
16 a night
15 dollars. Each camp ground has its own fire pit. No cash. Card only.
There is no entrance fee and plenty of spots for swimming.
You'll have to contact the campground office to get this information. The Ranger Station will be able to point you in the right direction.
You have to register for outdoor camping or R V. space.
Yes, the kiosks at the entrance of each campground. Unsure of price. It will tell you.
Yes
There are swimming areas, but not hot springs. It's still a beautiful place to visit.
Lots of tent camping. More family oriented and large groups at Cold Springs campground and smaller groups at Rock Creek. Cold Springs is walking distance to all of the swimming spots like Panther and Little Niagara.
The park itself doesn't. If you're looking for that kind of action, I recommend the areas around Turner Falls in Davis.
The area was originally Platt National Park (1902), but that was abolished and made part of the larger Chickasaw National Recreation Area in 1976
The only "hot" thing will be you at the Casino.... or not.
There were other dogs out there although I don't know if it was allowed or not
Im sure using the land would be free. But call the ranger station and find out..
We have camped there before with two vehicles and spoke with one of the rangers that day and they did not make us pay for 2 vehicles. Not sure if anything has changed about it since then
There are cabins everywhere aound arbuckle lake. Google arbuckle lake cabin rentals
Theres no fee to enter. It is administered by the National Park system.
The larger restrooms have nice showers in them also, and were very clean the last time we were there.
Both
I'm not sure if they can swim in the public swimming area, but I know you can have them there if they are on a leash
$12 for no electricity $18 or $20 with electricity
I think it's gone up to 15 dollars, but they are nice sites. They all have tables & fire pits.
Be aware that you pay camping fees via a vending-style machine that doesn't take cash. Make sure you bring along a card.
The Park itself does not have a golf course, but the town of Sulphur does have one, it is the Sulphur Hills Golf Course (9 hole public course?
Camping is year round, some sites require reservations ahead of time. Campfires are allowed in provided fire grates. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, a burn ban may be in effect and therefore limit or eliminate this option. As far as alcohol allowability, I located the same on the website, which leads me to believe that it may be permitted in some areas and not others. "Platt Historic District Alcohol Closure Cold Springs Campground and the swimming and picnic areas east of U.S. 177 and along Travertine Creek are closed to Open Containers of Alcohol by the authority of the Superintendent's Compendium (36 CFR §1.5). This closure is in effect from May 1 through September 30 each year."
The chickasaw nation I believe.
