Let me see 3 dogs that already had applications/owners. Then, let me see, and put in an application for a 4th dog who’s owner was contacted the day before without telling me. So now my application is on hold which I only found out after calling to ask when I could pick the dog up. They need better organization and communication.

Staff not user friendly. Unsure of routines.

The PG county adoption process should take lessons from how the DC Animal Shelter does adoptions. The adoption process is more tailored to the quick and easy one day adoption of sheltered animals.

Called about stray cats and kittens in my yard, on my deck, sleeping on my furniture, leaving cat hair, etc. Never got a response.

Absolutely. One of the finest. People are there to help.
They are old enough to volunteer. However, they will not be able to work or interact with the animals because they are under 18. For the application process I would recommend contacting the volunteer director because I am not sure what the process would be for your 15 and 16 year olds. Hope this helps you!
Yes. They are actually having volunteer training on the 25th.
It depends it depends on if the animal is spayed or neutered already I believe now is optional if you want them spayed or neutered when I got my boxer from them but maybe 17 years ago the animals all had to be spayed and neutered and my boxer was already spayed and when I got her I believe all together I only paid maybe about 20 to $40 because she already had have procedures done she was already microchip she was already up to date on shots I took the paper the day before yesterday which had pricing on there and for everything between $200 and $230 but majority of the stuff is optional it depends on what they recommend for the pet depending on what type of environment that are coming from they've changed a lot since I last adopted from them but if I can find the paper that goes into detail how much for adoption depending on what each pet needs done I can upload a picture so you can say is I was just there a few days ago
They have a wide range of puppies and dogs. However, it might be a little rare to find a pedigree since this is a drop off shelter. Most of the dogs/puppies there are mutts. Good luck finding the dog you are looking for!
Good morning, unfortunately we do not take care of the dog, you would have to find a place where you can board. I would suggest a friend or family member to take care of your pets. Thanks
Please call 301-780-7241, 780-7242, 780-7243
Yes
look on the website
Yes they do they offer a list of things at a discounted rate because they'd rather have safe animals with all-day vaccines and shots then vs. Abandoned animals who haven't had any vaccinations or shots or been up kept so they offer a numerous amount of service including spayed and neutered and they also are affiliated with other animal services as well for additional help and support
If I am not mistaken the adoption fee is $150 and that includes the first year shots spay and or neutering I do not know about breed selection you would have to call the center to find out and ask to speak to the kennel department they could further assist you with that I hope this helps and thank you for adopting as opposed to shopping 🧡🙌👑🐕🙋
I agree with scorpio queen. Call the PG County Animal Services. They are very helpful.
You have to call them so they can pick up the dog or you can just drop the dog off at the shelter. I hope this help
Depends on the needs of the dog,& which adoption rep your dealing with. But usually no. I'd suggest calling to find out. Good luck!🐕🙋
To be honest it is an animal shelter I don't recall them charging a fee for a deceased animal that I'm not sure and I know each animal shelter is different from different counties to different states and whatever laws but it is a government-funded facilities so it's a possibility they may not charge anything for a deceased and I know if you go to animal hospital yes they do charge for deceased animals cuz I had a few deceased animals and I had took them to the animal hospital and they wanted to charge me $500 for cremation and I think to put them inside a little box and tsabary it yourself was like $150 at the animal hospital
I'm not the facility..give them a call
Yes
There is always someone there - but you may have to ring the door bell. There isn't a fee for surrendering but I'm sure a donation would be appreciated- either money or items. If you want to surrender your pet in the hopes they are re-homed I think it would be best to do it face-to-face so they can get the history and bring the shot records. The process is a one page paper of the name, age, gender, if the animal is fixed .... type of questions and that's it.
If you want to drop the cat off you can during any hours during the day while it is open.
You can contact the Spay Spot at 301-254-8151 if you are in search of spay & neuter or vaccination services.
No however you can go to the Prince George's county SPCA shot clinic the first Sunday of every month and they will sell what you want. Just look on their website for more information
Yes, around $100 when adopting a pet.
Call 301-780-7242 with the information and someone will investigate the conditions
Can you rehome them yourself so they don't get put to sleep? And spay and neuter your cats? The shelter has a low cost clinic.
Please call 301-780-7242
We do not provide rabies vaccination to the public. Please contact your veterinarian and if you don’t currently have one, search vets near you. You can also check with the SPCA 301-262-5625 to see if their clinics have started back up. An option also is to contact Petco to see if they have any low-cost shots. The Spay Spot 301-254-8151 that operates out of our building has not restarted their shot clinics.
Yes...absolutely. Call for hours / appointment.

Yes pg County animal control
I adopted my buddy from humane rescue alliance(HRA) on Oglethorpe St NW in Washington DC, the fee for my guinea pig was $20, it includes his medical history, a certificate for one free health exam and access to advice from the HRA animal specialists
The shelter is currently closed to the public. Please call 301-780-7241 or 301-780-7242 if you are in need of assistance.
I think you should call them...they have so many animals that need a home. You can sometimes keep them overnight...ask questions they will love it...
Please call 301-780-7241 or 301-780-7242 and they can give you the information you need.
Unfortunately in order for an animal control officer to come and retrieve the cats, you will need to purchase or rent traps from any local pet store ie. Petco or Pet Smart to catch the cats then call your local shelter for them to come and pick up. Any further questions you should contact your local shelter
The facility is still closed to the public and is conducting essential services by appointment only. Please call 301-780-7241 or 301-780-7242 to schedule an appointment if an essential service is needed.
Our staff is currently answering our phones from 7am to midnight and from midnight to 7am our phones are answered by a service. I am not sure which phone number you have been calling, please call 301-780-7241, 301-780-7242 or 301-780-7243. Our building is currently closed to the public and we are offering limited services.
Yes but it's best to check online before going so that you can see all the available options.
No
Yes, you can adopt animals here
I am going back on Friday. I can get the info and post it for you.
Yes u can but call first to make sure they have space for the animal What type of animal do u have
And also bring a leash
Not sure what specialist you are trying to reach. Please call customer service at 301.780.7241 or 301.780.7242
No they do everything there and u can always still use there vet facilities after you adopt
No you don't need a pet license to adopt but they will give you everything you need for the adoption process consist of paperwork micro chip
You need to choose the animal you are going to adopt before you fill out the application
You have to fill out an adoption application if you're interested in an animal. You can't reserve
Yes you have to register
No u have to b at least 16 and have a workers permits
Find a 24 hour asapca or animal hospital they can direct you to someone that can come out and assist you
If you love animals it's a great place to work. I love to do. Volunteer work there.
yes they do it all depends on the condition and temperament of the animal the age and what the request is of the person bringing them in at times there is a fee so if it's your animal you may want to call they do not do it 24 hours a day so my suggestion would be his to call find out what their hours are and do they have a vet tech mission on staff for the veterinarian and what is the cost hope this helps
I will be honest if you there is a very strong possibility that the cat could be put to sleep it all depends on the space that they have in the shelter the cat's temperament and if the cat is extremely ill now if there is space and the cat is in relatively good condition they usually try to give it a 3-day hold to make sure that no one has lost the cat and they usually try to see if the cat has been microchipped if after three days the cat has not been looked at four possible adoption it could be put to sleep or they may try to find a foster so I'm not going to lie you're doing it at your own risk and those are some questions that you may want to ask I hope this helps by Happy Father's Day 🙏🙋💪🤦
The PG County Animal Services is far enough away from commercial fireworks that I don't think they will hear fireworks. But please call the center to offer your services directly to them. They always need volunteers
Yes. They have a donations list at www.princegeogescountymd.gov/257/Donations
They adopt them out
They don't put dogs down anymore they just shipped them out to another facility to get adopted it's a possibility of dog may still be there if not if you remember the dog description or if the dog had a name they should be able to locate the dog for you
Call ASF for the animal intake process.
You can take them the shelter and surrender them there.
Yes, they Spay and neuter. They have a low cost clinic on certain days! Give them a call for day's &drop off and pick up & fee's 🐕👑😍🙋
No u have to animal control they come pick up any animals that are abandoned or aggressive u can call the pound still and they give the contact information for the department that's deals with that specifically I called aspca I was dog sitting a friend dog and I had my own dogs unfortunately the dog that I was dog sitting she became overly protective and aggressive and she attacked my other female dog in the process of me trying to pull them apart I got bit in the process I called ASPCA and they came and picked up dog up right away
https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/226/Adopt-a-Pet
I have no clue
Its not my facility..give them a direct call
I'm not sure because it has been open I know if the food is closed and have not been open you can drop it off and I think they do that so people won't tamper with the food but I'm pretty sure if you call and ask someone they'll be able to tell you but I know it's always have been closed was sealed food that has not been opened in Reclosed
Did you check with the Human society if you a low income person and quality they be able to help you or refer you else where , also call on the vet on wheels they park on Mondays on the shopping center across from the CVS in Montgomery Village Ave in Montgomery Village ,MD in Montgomery county
I don't know but maybe if officer Roberts knows he'll come out. Gotta have the right people call he will come out.
Call them or Google several research doucments.
They do scan them as soon as they are brought into the shelter. When I dropped of a dog I found they scanned her while i was still there filling out paperwork. Unfortunately the owner of the dog had never actually registered the microchip to themself.
Contact the shelter. If you go to petharbor.com you can see all of the dogs that are currently there.
Yes
They take more than just cats and dogs.. Birds.. Rabbits.. Hamsters.. Guinea pigs... A variety are accepted.. Shelter Sites differ for receiving.. but nothing dangerously exotic
You pay the fee.. And any other associated monies with the adoption process.. Starts at 200 for dogs
They do take dogs
Most likely they would if no one adopt the dog
I honestly don't know if they have those kinds of birds, you should probably call and ask them.
There are fees to pay for shots and spaying or neutering. It's still less than the cost to purchase from a pet shop.
Probably, but they would probably have to put it down.
Yes... I put my dog down, at Brown Station Rd..She got sick, her surgery was $2,000 ..hurt me to my heart..
You can but they will most likely put her down because they don't adopt out pits. I would take her to Charles county animal shelter in Waldorf
I don't know the law's but seems wrong to me.
She found them! Not sure if they were at the shelter or not. Thank you for caring about our fur babies!
If you take your dog to the shelter and they don't find a home the dog will eventually be put to sleep. Your best bet is to find a good rescue group that will foster the dog until a home is found.
It's not a doggy daycare. More solely for animal issues.. Daycares do actually exist.. Such as Bark Base in Clinton..or several others I've seen in the metro are
A visit will better clear up all your questions.. Some animals do come as pairs.. Not often but sometime.. The process will still be the same but it's better if you contact them directly.
Call the shelter. The mother cat will definitely protect her offspring and you don't want that problem.
No, but you can get a cat 7 or over which is neutered/spayed for free.
Call them for donations I'm sure they would love to have them
Call animal shelter ask them to send out an officer with traps to catch the stray animals. Cats can wipe out birds in ur area and they reproduce fast.
No fee.
About $175 or so. It must be neutered before you pick up - shots, adoption fee, & license are included.
I’m a volunteer there this is not a no kill shelter-while everyone does their best to get the animals rescued or adopted animals are euthanized for space, health and temperament reasons
Mon- Tues 12 -6, Wed 11:30 - 730, Fri 12 - 6, Sat 10 - 4, Thurs and Sun closed
There are boxes to choose dog vs cat, male or female, etc
