Very cooperative and helpful lady...

It was a positive experience overall. It took 4 follow-up emails (over 10 days) to get an appointment. Once I was at the consulate, it took 30mins to get a power of attorney done. So I suppose my advice is to be persistent and continue email them until they reply. My suggestion, keep a respectful tone throughout your interactions with them (via email and in person). Italian bureaucrats value that a lot.

I had booked my appointment through horrible process they have on their website but after getting my appointment they have canceled my it for no reason and asked me to get a new appointment. New appointment is not available for the next 3 months. I have sent them many emails but they simply don’t reply. I still can’t believe people have given 5 starts to this place. This will impact Italian tourism as many people like to travel from the US . Someone should take it seriously. I am also trying to contact higher authorities in Italy to report this issue.

I went to the consulate for a file and the front desk lady was very helpful in giving me all the information I needed. Really patient and kind 🔝🔝 More than positive judgment!

Italian resident in Rochester MN, registered with AIRE, I have an American passport. I would like to go to Italy as soon as possible to see my house under renovation? I can go? I'm not going on vacation!
And
Form is available for free online, download and fill it.
You need a visa as a green card holder usually (depends on your nationality). You need an appointment for fingerprints unless they have been taken for a different Schengen visa recently and they can find you in the system
Keep checking everyday at 5pm
Tania, the best thing to do is to contact the ufficio anagrafe del Consolato Generale D'Italia a Chicago, they will tell you how they need the document to be done, when I did mine, I made the translation in a word document stating that it is true and accurate copy of the original, sign it in front of a public notary and them bring it to the secretary of state for the apostille...
Not really any good answers. Appointments are 2 years out, and have been for a long time. Some services you can pay for will monitor the site for cancellations to try to move up.
Hey Laura ,you can actually just email them ,they are very responsive usually, very good people ....Or you can go to the consulate when it's open to the public which is Monday to Friday 9:00 -12:00 ..To book an appointment, you should create an account with them and book an appointment preferably 1700 chicago time or midnight Italian time..Hope this will be helpful 🙂
Don't know what you mean by how you phrased it. If you're talking about having the passport be sent to you after doing the application process, you would need to give the person in the office a manilla envelope with your address as recipient with 2 stamps from post office, so they can send you the passport.
Anthony - You're saying we should go to the consulate to make an appointment? Everything I've read has said you have to make an appointment on the prenota online site (which is also booked for 3 years)
Booking an appointment at the consulate is very difficult because of the high demand. You must go to their website every day. To hopefully get one. I believe Italy is letting tourists in now. Maybe a travel agent can help you with a tourist visa.
They will need the certs translated by an offiical translator and then Apostille by State of IL. Then bring to consulate to send to your Comune in Italy.
Contact the consulate to schedule an appointment, bring you expired passport, 2 passport pictures, a prepaid envelope for them to send your new passport back to your address and last but not least 140 bucks in cash 🙂👍
Not sure for visa. I was getting new passport. After leaving the consulate, the new passport arrived in about 3 weeks
We got in in about a month
Your divorce decree has to be translated and apostilled. Usually the first and last sections are accepted in the translated form, but it depends on what state issued the decree. Your translator will know.
If you were born in Italy, you are a citizen.
Congratulations, what is your question.
Yes
There is a Facebook group were you can find tons of resources. Just search us Italy dual citizenship.
Yes. Just use your permanent address on everything.
As long as your passport hasn't expired you'll be fine. However, contact your Consulate as soon as you get back and get the renewal process started. Go into prenota.it and get an appointment.
Front page of the Italian Consulate website shows it. Look for the dollar signs.
Hello, its a process, first they need ne registered at A.I.R.E. then the can request the italian passport, then you can apply i guess
Call the cousolate or look on their website, they are a bit slow responding, but things do get done. That is your best bet.
It depends on what country passport you carry. Permanent resident of U.S. only has meaning if you stay in the U.S., and you are still a citizen of other country.
Call them. They can reschedule your appointment.
Based on Google, Mon through Fri, 9am to 12pm
And
Do you mean a speeding or traffic ticket? Pay it. They will not let up Until you do. Should you return and try to rent another car, you will be refused.
In my research I was surprised to see that you don't need a student visa to study abroad in Italy if the academic portion is less than 91 days. But I would double check with the institution she is studying at to make sure a student visa is not required. I did find that you cannot stay longer than 90 days in the Schengen area. It does not matter if you come and go, they say that in a 180 day period you cannot stay more than 90 days. So the only way I think she is safe is if some of her travels take her out of a Schengen country for at least 3 days. There could be serious consequences to her overstaying, but there have been cases where nothing happens. She could be fined, or barred from entry the next time she goes to the EU. Read here: https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/consequences-of-overstaying-in-schengen-area/
At least $74. And generally they only take cash or a money order. If you are able to call and ask for details I encourage you to do so. The price may change every 3 months.
I'm sure you can find this on their website.
Looks like your question is incomplete.
Look on the website. It will give you all the info you need.
No, the Consulate does not give out maps.
Call the office and ask them. You will most likely need to expedite a passport renewal at the same time that you're trying to get the visa.
US is good for I think up to 60 or 90 days. If you are staying longer, you will need to look look into an Italian license.
Create a new account with a different email account. You could also send them an email. I don't know if they lock you out after too many attempts. Also, try in the mornings. Good luck.
Check every day. Sometimes people cancel rheir appointments and maybe you can get in. I would call them and see if that have any openings. I hope you don't live far away!
If you are asking if you can obtain an emergency passport at the Italian consulate, the answer is yes. Go online and rrad about it, Make an appointment.
If you're referring to an Italian passport, you can go into prenotaonline.it and make an appointment, then send them an email explaining the situation. As a citizen they can expedite passports for an emergency.
That's actually wrong. I have dual citizenship through my father and i have an Italian and American passport. You must first establish your dual citizenship which might require an attorney. It also depends when you were born. I believe if after 1992 you can't do it any more? Something changed in 1992 but I'm not sure. Go to the NIAF website. National Italian American foundation website has a section about dual citizenship.
The Italian fiscal code is their version of a social security number. I don't think you would need this, maybe there is an option to check online that you are not a resident. If not, choose a different website or try to call.
Yes, go to their website to schedule an appointment.
Generally in order to get a visa or to travel internationally you need to have at least 6 months of valid time on your passport that covers the duration of your trip. So in your case your passport would need to be valid until roughly October 8th of 2018, but that would be the absolute minimum. There are ways to expedite or rush the renewal of your passport but that will not work over the weekend, or the day before you leave in yoir case. I hope you have trip insurance. My best advice would be to call the airline you are traveling with and ask them your situation. Good luck! And if please respond with how this ends up for you.
Try logging in at midnight Rome time. New appointments pop in then and go quickly.
No
Only the owner. ID is checked twice. However you should ask them if they will make an exception.
I will be in Rome for 16 hours can I leave the airport
