Took my toddler and baby to emerald park on what was a beautiful sunny day. Noticed an officer park their car for about 10 minutes nearby. The school buses started dropping kids off from school and some grouped up inside the park about 30ft away. A brawl broke out between two groups of kids. Pushing, punching, stomping, and kicking ribs. This escalated into 20~30 seconds of gunfire. I grabbed my toddler off the slide and baby from the stroller and hid behind the slide. I see the officer’s car drive off and I felt abandoned. I could only pray no stray bullets hit one of my children. Gunfire ceased and the crowd scattered. The only ones left in the park was me holding onto my daughters. Neighbors starting to come out from safety to assess the situation and shouted if everything was fine. Thank god no one was injured and I understand the situation was too dangerous to engage but there should’ve been an officer asking us if everything was fine after everything cooled down, instead there were tire marks where they had parked.

If you are of African descent you’ll boldly know that you do not mater to them! This department has shown so much injustice and disregard for human rights!

So harrisburg dept what seems to be the problem here
You can do what I did almost 30 years ago. Move away. It wasn't just the car boom boxes. I was in City Towers and the church next door kept ringing their musical chimes multiple times every day 120 feet from my head when I worked two jobs and slept the day shift. Now in my retirement years I'm in a lovely, roomy 2-bedroom in a quiet neighborhood. If I remember right a Haitian drug dealer got his head chopped off with a machete while I was there. Two 15-year olds from New York City sprayed a building on the hill with machine gun fire and a stray killed an 18-year-old preacher's son and honor student a block away. I wouldn't go near Market St., was rarely on Derry for anything. And uptown only when necessary. Downtown was bad enough. Then as today, don't linger sitting in your car parked on 2nd. You're in a vulnerable position that way.
Thank you! Obviously I'm not from Harrisburg. 😂
Yes, trick or treat is still happening tonight in Harrisburg City.
You will need to go into the police station, to the 2nd floor Records Dept. They are open M-F from 8am to 4pm. There usually is a fee and not all police reports are able to be released. Their phone number is 717-255-3141.
Not really. If it's regarding an incident you were involved in just call the officer. If it's not, you wont get any info other than what you may see in news.
Russel I'm seeing this as an ongoing problem for 3 yrs I'm an invester and we really need to clean the garbage OUT !!!!!!!so how bout we all get together and realy do something about this. Russel lets get together
They are open from 6:30 am until 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except holidays. They occasionally have to leave the office for short amounts of time and if they do, they will list the time, on the door, when they will be back.
Has anyone called Aging and Wellfare?
Call the parking authority
They are not really taking noise complaints lately as serious as they should. See if some neighbors will help you call the police. Maybe you could take turns but don't take the whole situation on yourself. The police get irrated quickly and your neighbors are probably going to turn the music back up when they're gone. I had to buy ear plugs before when I had neighbors that partied all night. You could try those. I feel so bad for all of you not being able to sleep. Wish I could help more. Good luck and be safe.
United Steam. I would never approach them. I used to work for the police department. I think that's why I am so upset. No not as a cop. But now I am 70 years old & can't get any help from them. My house got broken into several years ago & it took them 3 hours to show up. They told me to stay out of the house because they may still be in there. Finally I called my daughter & she called them. They were there in like 5 - 10 minutes. Sometimes I am ashamed to tell anyone I live in Harrisburg. There's some nights I would like to fire my handgun up in the air just to scare them. But I would be the one who got arrested. Besides I have it for personal protection. .thanks for the advice and for listening.
