Spent the past year and half going to this location most days, 8 hours at a time with multiple appointments. I will miss spending so much time there once I am 100% better. Enjoyed the cafeteria food. I feel thankful that I was able to be a patient here. Most employees through out the hospital from different departments have been friendly.

Terrible service in Radiology.

Special thanks to the Huntsman staff and the nurses took care of my sister-in-law January Martin. It's sad to see all the bad reviews , huntsman Cancer institute is one of the best cancer institute in the world. some of the lives are easier to save than others unfortunately . My prayers go out to everybody they're doing the best they can so if people can give them a little bit more support. They're incredible 💞 love and respect goes out to the staff and the nurses, doctors keep doing a great work your miracle workers..♥️

Love The Huntsmans, Love What They Do!

Huntsman provides support in nearly every form you need. Emotional, Spiritual, Psychological etc. And if you need anything they might not have right there, they will help you find what you need. They are the very best at what they do. The Huntsman Center are true life savers.
i don't work there, but I'm pretty sure they do just say speak Spanish when you call,
I know that the doctors at the VA are the same doctors that are at Huntsman or at least most of them are however I do not know about the scheduling and at which location your insurance will pay. Call Huntsman and ask them also call the VA and see if you can get a referral to Huntsman.
You should call the institute directly and talk to the deititian instead of asking on a forum that's answered by the public and not by people that work there..... Or more obviously just look online for one of probably literally hundreds of recipes for broths that have electrolytes.....
Go to huntsmancancer.org and see new patient info. There is a housing link or call the new patient coordinator for your team and they will help direct you.
Give them a call on their main contact number and they'll direct you to the right people and help set up appointments as needed.
Hi Susan, we're so sorry to hear your mother is going through this. We would love to see her and your family at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Please call our Cancer Information Specialists at 1-888-424-2100 or find out more about our esophageal doctors and experts at https://healthcare.utah.edu/huntsmancancerinstitute/gi-cancer/esophageal-cancer.php. To follow up on your question about insurance: our Patient Financial Services team can help you understand your insurance benefits and show you what to do if your insurance won't cover treatment. You can contact our financial team at 801-213-4331.
Thank you for your question! Yes, donations of gently used or new wigs are accepted and appreciated at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Wigs must be clean, come from a pet free/smoke free environment, and be in good condition. You can leave your donation with the valets outside the hospital (a receipt for your donation is available if you need one). If you have any questions about donating, please don’t hesitate to contact Volunteer Services at 801-587-4050.
University Health and Huntsman have a patient and family housing facility that has a discounted rate. More info at this link https://healthcare.utah.edu/locations/patient-family-housing/
Patient and Family Housing is a good option. They run a shuttle to Huntsman Cancer Institute or other University of Utah Health clinics/hospitals. You can find information about this location at https://healthcare.utah.edu/locations/patient-family-housing/. We have some additional information about lodging on our website for Huntsman Cancer Institute or any other University of Utah Health visit. https://healthcare.utah.edu/locations/hospital/services/lodging.php
yes i agree to check with the doctor, my sister in law, was there a few months back( but stayed in the hospital for 7 day's), had stem cell therapy infusion's, chemo..that ( massage) was one of thing's she got to have done,so yes ask about it
This is a question only your medical provider can answer.
IF you call the information number and ask to speak with an admin in HCI I would think that they could direct you to the department that would be more than happy to help you set this up.
Yes you can you can also ask if you donate to there hunts mans house it a place where patent family can stay and they take food donations nice place
Ive been going up their to all 3 of the hospitals PMCH,UOU & Huntsman for the last 14+ yrs because Ive been diagnosed & cured of Leaukemia twice now but even though im cured of cancer i still go to Huntsman once a month or sometimes more for blood cleaning treatments! I feel like i could be a Doctor at this stage & i only lack the physical paper stating that ive gotten a PHd. Lol. Their has been a research team working for quite some time throughout the 3 hospitals on the P53 Protien Cell known to be more prevently found in Elephants kill cancer cells before fully developing cancer, as humans we also have the exact same Protien Cell P53 in us but we only have 2 whereas they have around 40. The research team has expressed that not only does it work but they've introduced many different types of human cancer cells to it & each time they have it entirely wipes the cancer cells out, the step after that was introducing P53 into Mice with Cancer which has already begun!
So sorry I don't speak Spanish.
Hi Joe, We no longer have RV hook-ups. If you need someplace to stay there are several options.
No. The Huntsman Cancer Institute contracts with the same insurance companies as University Hospital. They have some carve outs specific to the cancer center with some normally out of network plans, but certainly not all. If you are interested in pursuing treatment at Huntsman, they have on site financial advisors and pharmacy medication access coordinators to help advise about coverage levels and to offer financial aid for those who qualify.
We’re so sorry to hear his cancer has returned. Please know we’re here to help! He can fill out an appointment request form. Once we’ve received the form, one of our patient coordinators will call him in a day or two to gather more details and get him connected with a specialist here at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Our request form is available here: https://healthcare.utah.edu/huntsmancancerinstitute/appointment.php. If he’d rather not use our website, if he needs to speak to someone immediately, or if has any other questions, please have him call 888-424-2100 and our cancer information specialists will help him.
I am a patient, not a doctor or administrator, but this is a public hospital(a part of the University of Utah health care system), and I have found no indication that they will turn anyone away. If your insurance will cover it, you should be fine. As a current cancer patient, and having been an ICU patient the last weekend, discharged from the hospital just last night, I can say that the care is top notch. The staff is amazingly good, friendly, and accessible. I recommend this hospital with every fiber of my being. :-)
8am to 9pm if I remember correctly. If you're family or some other special exceptions you can stay overnight.
I got in on referral, so it wasn't difficult. Not sure how easy it would be to just show up and say take me in. Give them a call to find out best.
Yes the University Hospital is connected by bridges, etc (you can be transported from the ED to Huntsman without going outside). If you are very ill call 911 or safely obtain transportation to the ED. There is also the Huntsman Cancer Institute Acute Care (HAC) clinic can be used for urgent, same day needs. It's not a walk-in clinic so contact your care team so they can help triage you to the appropriate place. The HAC is usually 9-5 M-F whereas the ED is obviously 24/7 - here is the HAC's website https://healthcare.utah.edu/huntsmancancerinstitute/treatment/acute-care.php
Call them, they can give you all the information you need.
Depends on how much and how well recovery goes it can be anywhere between 2 days to a month
What kind of a question is that? Benefactors are the thousands of people receiving treatment and the main philanthropist in Jon Huntsman.
Hi Laura, we do accept hats for adult patients. You can make or buy warm knit hats for the winter and brimmed hats and caps for summer. Hats should be made of soft fabric that will not irritate sensitive skin. We cannot accept used hats. You can find more information on our website at https://healthcare.utah.edu/huntsmancancerinstitute/about-us/volunteers.php#opportunities. Please contact Primary Children's Medical Center for information about hats for kids and babies! Thank you for your generosity!
Yes, Huntsman Cancer Institute treats multiple myeloma. You can learn more on our website at https://healthcare.utah.edu/huntsmancancerinstitute/hematologic-cancers/multiple-myeloma.php or contact the clinic at 801-585-2626.
I'm sorry you had that horrible experience. I'm a patient myself. I don't know how to answer your question, but my heart goes out to you. My little brother died when he was 5 of cancer due mostly of Dr incompetence. It's hard, but the pain does soften over time. I hope you get the answers your seeking.
They rilley know what there doing
i can see why all you guy's, have flag's next to your questions, & answers, you like to stir up trouble, yes Lisa they are good at what they do, so many flag's, and answer's, questions that are uncalled for, you might get someone..., who report's, it, then you'll, be through
They do take Cigna. Go to their web site for a complete list.
u
Lung cancer is tough. I'm not a doctor. Talk to her team. I'm sorry, wish I was more help
I would contact the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Im not sure. I have neck cancer but if you call, someone should know the answer.
You have them assign you a pin number And when you call you tell them that number and that gets you drectly to your Dr.or patient team never had problem
I was diagnosed with a Stage II Brain Tumor and the Dr at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden Utah said I had a year to 1 1/2 to live, Then he turns around and calls HCI. 11 years later, I'm still alive and I will NEVER go to either McKay Dee Hospital nor Dr Walker anymore! If anyone tells you or your family that you have Cancer, get a second opinion from Huntsman Cancer Institute.
I was never tested for the gene. I will inquire with my oncologist
Your best bet is to talk to your oncologist and radiologist up at the Huntsman. So they can do some scans and see how far it is spread and they can go from there. It's always best to talk to the Physicians and not random people on Google. Best of luck my friend I hope everything works out for you and your spouse?
What pain meds is she on? That could be why. Tell her you are with her, reassure her you'll stay by her.
Unfortunately, i am not a Doctor, so i am unable to answer this question. I am so sorry this is happening. Please talk to her oncologist/doctor to get a better idea of her chances, but know she is being seen at the best place-- Huntsman has taken care of me and they will do anything they can for your wife. Godspeed
It depends on what your asking? To be able to give a liver, just good health previously in life cuz my Mother was hit last year when crossing the street so she died brain wise instantly she was 54 yrs old but her organs where all donated to a transplant patient even her liver & she had drank heavy for the past 10~yrs but the recipient just needs to be able to strong enough "Cell wise" to take the organ & then their cells re-juvenate it as it "grows/helps" inside of them. As long as the liver is healthy I don't think it matters what age it is because like i said the recipients Cells are what matters & the will power they have! Im a recipient of a bone marrow cell transplant cuz I've been diagnosed twice with Leukemia so been going to Huntsman/Primary Childrens for the past 14 Yrs been cancer free for the past 5.
