Good day spent hiking. Trails were well marked and easy to follow. Some great views but mostly wooded. Lots of poison ivy so be careful.

GORGEOUS! This is easily one of the nicest parks I've been to in awhile. Trails are bike-oriented but the views are beautiful. More trail markers than I'm used to (in a great way). You don't constantly feel lost. Well kept up.

The sites were roomy enough for us to have two tents set up, one 3 person and one 7 person. There was also a nice tree buffer between sites, large field to do some stargazing, and the stargazing itself was surprisingly good for being this close to urban sprawl as light pollution was very low.

Don't know why I've never been here until yesterday, this place is cool! It's really pretty and there's tons of hiking you can do here! Just make sure you bring some bug spray at this time of year. Also, there's multiple hidden ruins.

I have seen them there with rentals go to the restaurant to ask.
It depends on where tou are camping. More trees usually means less reception.
Yes! Many spots available in multiple places!
Some pavilions are rented I would contact the park
Daily non-resident (of michigan) day passes are $9 and annual are $32. If you're a resident then the vehicle pass is $11 at secretary of state when you renew your tags and $16 if purchased at any other time - this is yearly and only for residence of Michigan.
You will not be able to answer that here unless someone camping now does. You can visit the DNR website and get to a map of this park. You can reserve specific sites in advance.
All water is turned off on October 15th.
You are allowed to back country camp just let the rangers know you are there in case something happened, like bad weather.
Its $25 if you pay upon arrival and apprx. $28 if you book online which i recommend because its usually full when I try to reserve on arrival.
I wouldn't see it being a problem on the roads, but no motorized vehicles on the trails around the park.
Sure . . . State parks usually have day use areas. You need a recreation passport or pay by the day.
Yes, the park requires either a day pass, or the Michigan recreation passport. There is a small parking lot at the park headquarters across from the entrance gate.
No alcohol April1 through Labor Day
If you have a new car and don't have your license plate on it yet then no, but make sure that you get one. also make sure that it is not expired yet
Just on lake
no, you can boat there though. you can bring your own kayak to use but there's no renting yet
No, but if you have you can bring it
Yes, thy do not want people working and passing money back and fourth to people so it is just free to everyone right now
Last I knew they were just a little over 50 dollars or so, depending on what you got. Good luck ✌️
Obviously the mini is a one room cabin, and the rustic is two with old rustic features.
One of the best camping facilities in the area for RV and tent camping.
The sites a spread out. Some sites you can't even see your neighbor.
They have a big pit by the camping office with seating around it you could ask about that
Don't know Exactly but the last time I camped there it was more than I would pay to sleep in a tent. So if you don't have a motor home go to Coldbrook.
Yes all year round.
Yes, you can. We just did this past weekend, openly. They never said a thing at Ft Custer. This was not our first time there nor was it the first time openly bringing our own wood. (Now we are from Kalamazoo, so just one city over...)
Yes there are, or might be this place is very busy . if you get here you will understand why. Also they might get even fuller , due to hot air balloons being here this week
Agree...my site was right near a path to one of the lakes, but it was not a swimming lake or beach
Not sure, rates probably increase a bit this year. Best to DNR office @Ft.Custer
We also went there on a Wednesday at 3pm to take the kids on a trail walk. We went by the office to see if there were trail maps we could get but the office was closed.
Oh it's super warm as long as your heart is right with the polar bears.
Just electric
Yes
I camp there a lot as long as you don't get carried away they do t say anything, just keep it on your site, and don't have bottles sitting on picnic tables.
There are no full hook ups at Fort Custer SP
Motor vehicles of any kind are not permitted on park trails.
The sites become first come first serve I believe and, but as others mentioned, the bath house is closed and there is none of the regular staff.
Yes
There is a lauch at the east side of Eagle lake. However I have only seen fishing boats on the lake.
It's a yearly pass.$11.00 at the park or $10.00 if you get it when you renew your license plates.
Not on the beach itself but anywhere else on the lake is fine. Theres a picnic area to the right of the beach you can walk your dog into or the dock on the other side of eagle lake is a good spot to bring your dog to swim.
You will be fine if you use bug spray. They are out in force. I encountered deer flies today in large numbers on a hike. Wear a hat to attract the flies to it, versus your head. Enjoy!!
Check the DNR website. Go to the appropriate park and then you will be able to check availability. They are very popular at this time.
Yes but if you want one get there early because they go quick
There are 2 mini cabins that have heat, electricity, 2 sets of bunk beds, and a fire ring. Maximum occupancy of 4.
I have seen horse trails but don’t know where to go to rent them
$30 a night with electricity.. but no water and $25 a night for no water no electricity is ridiculous!.. all that land and theres not even a primitive site...and they wonder why People go north. 2 hr drive north and its free for us that just want to drop a tarp and camp camp
Tents i believe yes but the cabins you would have to call a head of time to check.
As far as I know, the Custer State Park used to be part of a military reservation and should not have any private ownership of any structure, in the park, itself. I could be wrong, but, I doubt anyone owns any property on that state land.
The Fort Custer National Cemetery will be hosting a ceremony at 11:00 AM Eastern Time on Veterans Day, November 11
It is open this weekend
In the park towards the east side. Ask at the gate. Have fun!
