You are allowed to back country camp just let the rangers know you are there in case something happened, like bad weather.

That's a good question I would think as long as you have a state pass you are okay to be on the property but yeah if you're in the campground you will probably have to pay but I think you can do some Backcountry camping again as long as you have a state park pass but I would definitely call and find out I'm sorry I'm not anymore help

Normally dispersed camping is only allowed with a permit from the DNR.
