Based on my recent experience, you need an appointment. From what I understand, the appointments for a given date appear in the online booking system at midnight exactly 2 weeks prior to the date. Also, even if you missed grabbing one of those appointments that become available for your date, I recommend checking the online appointment booking system often. Refresh the page every now and then. Maybe someone will cancel theirs. I was able to get my appointment that way.

I would check the travel.gov site and give them a call, when I called they said up to 8 months with the delays unless you have a life or death emergency. Offices in PA are only opened by appt for emergency not public. I didnt get an answer when they would reopen.

The Philadelphia Passport Agency is only open for passports expedited same day because of medical emergencies. So bring translated proof of needing to leave the country because of a medical emergency like a Sick uncle, aunt, father, or ect. And call to make an appointment. No appointment case number, no entry. Don't bother with the sad story unless it is followed by a case number you got through the 877 number. Go on travel.state.gov there are extremely limited appts. You might have to be open to driving to one. Try 6am in the morning and just keep refreshing until something pops up

I've been Trying to contact the agency for 4 days by phone 3 plus hrs waiting no answer. I applied with expedition in April, no letters no email nothing was sent nor my passport. Went to the facility in Philadelphia was let in But denied services because I didnt have an appt btw I beg n the last at the window was rude n denied me. My flight was on june 6 2021 this passed sunday. Lost my flight had to come out of pocket to change the flight. Tried to keep calling busy signal like always. I need help my next flight is set for this sunday 6-13-21 but from the looks of it I dont think I'll make it. Very upset lost alot of time n money and no one has answers resources nothing!!!

I haven't done a renewal but a brand new one only takes a day if u have proper documentation you can submit everything in the morning early and have it by 1pm-3pm a renewal shouldn't take any longer unless there are complications. I would follow up with them on status in case there is an issue

You can do everything on line. Fill out DS82, Have a current photo 2x2, Pay the fee with check, include old Passport. If you want old one back, include a note saying so.
