Got lucky this morning, no line! Went in with an appointed and i renewed my DL without a hitch. Rare occurrence but nonetheless I'm happy!

Had an appointment today at 10am. Got there at 9am, NO LINE! Anthony helped us, he was friendly and very informative... we needed 2 more forms and He allowed us to go get them and return by noon. We came back, he finished helping us and we were on our way. Thanks Anthony!

Terrible campground. For walk-ins, I'd recommend bringing mosquito spray and something to sit on if you don't arrive early enough. Line up on the left benches for walk-ins and right side for appointments. I'd recommend lining up at the campground very early, but in fear of making earlier miserable lines I won't say when. Just as early as you see fit, then if too many people are there, try earlier the next day. I believe they only accepted 11 walk-ins the day we went. After camping, the process was efficient enough, but you better hope all your documents are correct. The lady was patient and kind, but camping was still more enjoyable than the DPS part of the experience. Camping gets a 2/5 stars. DPS gets 1/5 stars. The department should really streamline the documentation verification process online, because lack of doing so makes the current process so fun and enjoyable. Also, if you can't camp or wait months for an appointment, try setting an appointment at more rural areas.

This place sucked I hated it. I don't understand why anyone would come here unless they really had to

how do I transfer an out of state license?
it opens each weekday at 7am, it gets booked up fully quickly. they never tell people it opens at 7am unless you know it. if you try to use it at 7:3.,most likely, it gets full for the whole day already, it will show greyed out, meaning no more slots for that day. you.can still go in person, but need to wait in line for several hours.
My husband has a disability how can he renew his license?
If you have out of state license, you have to bring TWO doc proof that you residence here, could be utilities bills or car insurr with your address and name on it. Then, SSN card. Go there, wait in line, fill out the form. Wait, and show them docs and IDs , pay the fees, they will mail you ur new texas license. If you do not have US license, you will need to take a knowledge test, right there on computer screen and get the leaner permit, then take the driving test ( have to schedule it another day). There are only 5 countries driver licenses the US would accept and not required takeing test.
If you have Birth Certificate on file from a previous visit to the office, you're good.
You can go into the office or online.
take your driving test an pass, bring certificate to dmv to get license an pay the cost
You just go directly inside and input your phone number associated with your appointment and the machine will give you a waiting number. You will be called in a few minutes.
You need ssn card proof that he lives in texas so insurance statement or a copy of the plan with his address on it an you also need his birth certificate for proof that he lives here in texas you can look on the dmv website to look at all the excerpted documents they will accept the are picky about it too i know they will take the ones above if he owns a house or rents and has a copy of the lease or title you can take that
Can you here. No where on website can you do this. Followed all instructions and didn't get anywhere. Can't find a phone number either
Hello! If you're referring to a disability placard, that process is handled by your city's court office, not DPS. You can look up their number and give them a call for more information about what to bring in for the placard renewal.
Ignore the other answer that says you can't. You absolutely can. But get there early. I mean aim for 4 am and bring a chair to wait in line until they open. They give appointments on the same day, but they are extremely limited and first come, first serve.
Congratulations! I honestly have no idea. I have never been married. Try googling or calling the DPS itself. You just may have to deal with a long wait time. Or go in person! It's opened up now. Good luck!
Proof of address, passport or birth certificate, former ID, and about 8 hrs of free time.
While I was in the office yesterday a gentleman asked this question and was directed to email the bills to a designated DPS email. So, I presume the answer is yes! Their one warning was that you will have to wait quite a while for the email to come through, and the gentleman was definitely waiting for at least an hour.
7am, line starts forming around then, by 7:30/7:45am, there is a significant line. But if you're able to have access to a computer an Internet and you are open to an afternoon appointment, the online appointment scheduling opens at 7am. You schedule your appointment, you may get an afternoon time, but a very minimal wait. It was worth it for me than standing in a line for 1-2 hours!
No. https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/OnlineServices.htm
You can go to ANY office as long as it's in Texas. I lived in Austin and changed my address in the McKinney office and was told the same thing, but you must change it within 30 days of your move. The proof that you need is an electric bill, lease and/or anything government related with the new address.
Just proof of your driving course and documentation of identity. Make sure you there early, unless you want to stay there all day. Good luck! : )
Thank you, But I dont think they let you test for a commercial driver's license at home on the internet. I'm sure they have practice test! Thank you
Hello! If you are referring to your placard or plates, that process is done at your local court office, not DPS.
Yes you need those, but don't bring photocopies they won't accept it, just bring original vehicle registration and insurance card what your insurance gives you, sometimes they're very picky
You need an appointment.
Google "driving schools" and schedule thru one of them TX DPS no longer does the testing.
No not online, you will have to get an appointment, and that would probably be Oct, to Nov, or you can go early in the morning and stand in line, hopefully you can get an apt later that day, it's ridiculous.
Well I work 7 am to 3 then my next job is 4 to 10 pm so I don't have a window to go early
They do about 20 walk-ins as soon as they open at 8am, if you want to get a spot you might need to come as early as 5am and wait in line. (what I had to do for getting my permit). Their soonest appointment you can make right now is sometime in August/September.
Make an appointment through dps online and renew it
Did you try online? I just did my address change online and got license delivered. You need to create account in their website.
Typically, all you can do online is schedule appointments, renew some licenses, and submit a question to dps. Questions submitted to dps do get answered albeit a week or so later. An ID requires them to take a photo, observe your physical citizenship and proof of residency documents. All of which can only be done ln person. Although, I imagine high profile people may have other options available to them via attorneys and high priced agents though.
Unfortunately, this process must be completed in person or online. You cannot renew a license by phone.
Go online and click change of address and enter your new address
New Texas residents can legally drive with a valid, unexpired driver license from another U.S. state, U.S. territory, Canadian province, or qualifying country for up to 90 days after moving to Texas. Prior to the end of the 90 day grace period, a new Texas resident must apply for a Texas license in person at any driver license office to continue to drive legally. When applying for the new Texas license the individual must surrender any unexpired driver license in their possession from another U.S. state, U.S. territory or a Canadian province. Applicants who have a valid, unexpired driver license from another U.S. state, U.S. territory, or from Canada must surrender their out of state/country driver license and are not required to take the knowledge or skills exams. Over 18 Texas will require proof of: Identity (a valid out of state license can be used as a supporting document) Residency Citizenship Social security number Evidence of Texas Vehicle Registrat insurance
Earliest available was 6 months out when I tried. If you get there at 5am, with all your paperwork ready, they'll start handing out walk in appointments at 6:30
I was there a week ago without an appointment and was well attended to by the courteous and diligent staff. If you don't an appointment, all you need to do is to go there early in the morning before 6:30am, queue up and wait till the staff arrives to address everyone but make sure that you are with all the necessary documents. They are organized and fast with their service. I really recommend them!
You may apply for a placard and/or plate at your local county tax assessor-collector's office.
I would ask Google or call the dps phone number. I don't know off hand.
You could call and make an appointment online however I believe the next available appointment is around June another alternative is to arrive before they open around 6am and they might have open slots available later that day that they could assign to you make sure to have all the paperwork with you
On the appointment website, check every day. My first appointment was in October, but I kept checking back and found a February one. Also, check other locations. The location in McKinney has the nicest DMV employees.
No they don't
If possible give'em a call but I'm pretty sure you need an appointment and some info about the new address they are very friendly...
They are doing only appointments. Friday or Saturday is your best option to get a spot.
That is done at the tax assessors office not DPS.
Not from there gotta get it from where u was born or order it online
Yes. Its much easier now. If you can't get through via phone., the first 5 people that go to dps in the morning can get a same day appointment. It can take you months to get an appointment online
Maria Cristina, if you go before 8, and try to be one of the 15 first in line without an appointment, you might get a spot for the day, it happened to me a couple of weeks ago. It is worth trying, because if you go online, the closest dates will be for March 2021. Good luck!
Make an appointment. Get there early.
Yes, have an appointment. Or go to dmv before it open and line up for an appointment schedule for the day.
You need to bring the other state driver's license along with other supporting documents ( check in their website for other documents) in DMV office. Make appointment before you go, otherwise you may have to wait for long.
Online, dmv website
Yes thats what you need to do
They were open on saturday when I got my license renewed. I would check the DPS website.
Best to call. But pretty sure you will need your birth certificate, license, maybe your social security card. Oh and bring a bill showing where you live now. An electric bill or water.
All I need was birth cert, S.S # and my old driver license to renew it
System is still down at the DPS
The restrictions will be removed if you passed the vision test which is issued during a license renewal
Go to DMV and take the riding test there it is fast
@ exactly 7AM on the day you plan to go, get in line online here: https://www.dps.texas.gov/driverlicense/getinline.aspx?location=https://getinline.dps.texas.gov/wa-services/txdpsservices/waweb/default.aspx?siteid=TXDPS123 ... if you don't register at exactly 7AM, you'll miss your chance until the next day.
Yes, but keep in mind that you'll need to do it while the office is closed and that many other people also do this, so it can get crowded.
Only available online
Unfortunately the system issue is statewide not locally and the employees are doing their best to accommodate customers but again unfortunately seating is limited in this office.
Their hours vary, but in general yes! You can take a look at their posted hours on the Google Maps listing.
Birth certificate or passport and social security card and two bills in your name or the person you live with
Yes.. You can
Yes.. But you need complete impact video if you haven't previously
Appointments are made online and over phone
Get there crazy early to get in line. That's the only way to make it fast. CRAZY EARLY. The line begins early.
Go to title office
Check out their website.
Yes. Your car insurance and an electric bill with current address. You need original birth certificate, social security card and VOE (verification of enrollment) from your highschool. Also the certificate from your driving school or equivalent.
Yes.
I believe so. But you might be able to check-in online. Just look at web page and see if they accept online check-ins .
Look at the require documents at this link. http://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/OnlineServices.htm
https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/OnlineServices.htm
If it is better to do it online. If you will not be waiting outside in line in this caloron.
There is not an expedite option. Takes about two weeks.
No.
They do not. It is available online. https://www.dps.texas.gov/internetforms/Forms/DL-7.pdf
No.
Their system was down today.
It dosen't matter which one you go to. I went to the Mckinney DPS with an appointment.
I tried so many times and when every you go there they will till you sorry about that you have no appointment i recommend you to go Lewisville DPS
Around $25.
Yes. https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/OnlineServices.htm
No, you don't, you just get in line or you can get in line online but the only time that you can do that is at 7am
She is taking it at the DPS.
I believe that's all you need, if you go past 2 yrs you have to take it all over, the written & road test
Nope! Handicap placards are issued by your local court office, not the DPS. Fortunately, they have much shorter lines! You can give your city's court office a call and they can walk you through the process.
There should be an option to schedule your appointment and then click schedule your road test. It will ask you for your license number, your birthday , and then you will be given some dates you could pick from. Hope this helps
No , they do not accept walk ins.
I was able to do it online 10 years ago....maaayybe u still can
Did u ck to see if u can do it online? If u r not able to bring 2 valid forms of ID ( SS & BC or Passport ) if ur address has changed they will want a utility bill from the last 2 billing cycles ....hope this helped
Yes. Go into the DPS office and show them this form to have this restriction lifted. There might be some forms that you will have to fill out. In the meantime, you might like to ask DPS for Handicapped tags (temporary ones) since you have this form from the doctor until you feel comfortable enough to drive with your new eyesight. Good luck! : )
Call your local FedEx and have them print it for you, it costs less than a dollar.
Try doing that online.
Call DPS and notify them of the situation. In the meantime, go to a DPS office and get a print-out of what they're going to send you, and make sure you keep that copy in your wallet just in case you get pulled over. By the way, congratulations! : )
No. You will have to take CDL training at a school.
You'll have to come into the office if it's not a Texas license. If it is a Texas license, then you can get a duplicate online for $11.00.
No. There's no need for an appointment, just come in.
Call or go to the location you would like to have your driving test.
I.D. is enough.
Go online and set the appointment. It will give you the options for timing and also tell you what to bring. I know youll need a government ID with photo like a passport. There are other options though. Go online to the website. It gives you all of this information.
Get in line online tomorrow and go to the officer at the front desk tell him that your permit is expired and you need to renew it. They renew it instantly.
You can renew it online
Take a third party driving test and get license the same day.
No you don't need to wait in line if you are not in before an hour of your appointment they will never take your road test.
By money order or personal check.
Do it online as long as it is not a commercial drivers license. dps.texas.dricerslicense
