I was there a week ago without an appointment and was well attended to by the courteous and diligent staff. If you don't an appointment, all you need to do is to go there early in the morning before 6:30am, queue up and wait till the staff arrives to address everyone but make sure that you are with all the necessary documents. They are organized and fast with their service. I really recommend them!
You need an appointment to get in. I went to Mckinney office in Collin County. They had a 30 minute appointment window time and it worked great.I was in and out within that 30 minutes. I was even late for the start time. But it was very good. There was a line but it was very controlled if you had an appointment. There were people that did not have an appointment in the line but the staff handled it well. They instructed them what they needed to do and some got in if they had everything they needed. I say some- I was only there maybe 30 minutes. I seen 2 people let in. It was very organized. But the people with appointment where in and out pretty quick.
No, I'm afraid not. Appointments are 4-6 weeks out (depending on which DPS location you schedule with) , and they only take a select number of walk-ins at 6:30 am. My advice is to schedule your appt. asap, make sure you have every document needed, and on appt. day make sure you arrive early, check in (by going to the text notification the DPS office sent you the day you scheduled your appt.) Even though you have an appointment be prepared to still wait several hours. ( Make sure when you schedule your appt. that you give them your cell number in order for you to receive the text notifications. They will send you a confirmation, reminder, and that's where you go to check-in on the day of your appointment. Be prepared, and best of luck!
