If you have time, it is a highly recommended activity. They have an authentic WWII ship that you can visit inside. And they have a concord and a spaceship. We loved it, it's a bit expensive, but interesting. We arrived at the end of the day and in 1 hour and a half you have seen everything.

This is a nice museum , however they don't let you visit much of the actual ship unlike the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, SC, the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, TX or the USS Midway in San Diego, CA where you get deep into the bowels of the ship. The reason they give for that is that the Intrepid is considered as a building by the NYC Fire Marshal's Office and that they impose all kinds of safety restrictions. In addition, I am not sure why the Concord is there, it's not really relevant to the Intrepid. Overall, a worthwhile visit but somewhat disappointing when you have visited other carriers.

Absolutely superb museum. A huge range of exhibits up to and including a space shuttle. Great exhibits explaining life on the ship from all perspectives with really detailed information. I'd recommend allowing three hours or so to take it all in, possibly more if you have children with you.
Yes babies are allowed however there are very narrow and steep steps inside the ship that can be dangerous at places where elevator dont transit.I recommend to use the decks and elevator wherever possible and avoid the submarine .the space pavilion and shop restaurant are good for babies or toddlers.
I was wondering does the people that work thete live on the uss interpid or do u get paid after a year contract is up or do u get paid normally

Majority of the workers at museums like the intrepid are typically volunteers. Some meuseums like that will have some paid workers, but as far as i know the workers on the intrepid do not live on the ship.
I would check with the local Bus company, as I went alone by yellow cab admission prices $33 and not being from NYC my Wife went shopping and I went on my own for most of the day. Sorry I could not help. Good luck.
If you’d like to look at just the basic planes and spaceship, I say you’d be alright! However you’d have a horrible time trying to look around in the boat itself and it would be impossible to traverse the submarine. Otherwise, you’re pretty good!
Why were Meghan Markle and Harry invited to the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala ? He’s not American and served in the British Army? I’m the grand daughter, daughter and a proud mother of my third generation son. I really find it insulting.

Harry has done more for active duty soldiers and veterans across the globe, including America, than most people in this country. There are so many things to be insulted by, and this isn't one of them.
I did not look, because in reality everything is very graphical at sight, but I think that there are audio guides if you request them when you enter, although they must have an additional cost.
The Culture Pass is accepted, but you need to reserve in advance through the Culture Pass website and then reserve timed entry through the Intrepid website.
Check Groupon. There was a discount on there. Military and veterans get a discount as well. I hope the helps.
When I the museum going to open.

They have not indicated when they will open. All of the museums in New York are closed now.
what metro goes to the museum?

There is no very close line, the recommended one is: Line 7 getting off at 34th street - Hudson Yards station. Exit the exit on 11th Avenue, going north and 12th avenue the museum is at the bottom of 46th street.
Will the museum be open on December 24th and 25th ?

I guess, yes
Hi, we have NY pass for this attraction for five people. Do we need reservation for the entrance or just show up to the museum?

Depends on what you wanna do. If you want a special tour you should reserve your tickets online and guarantee a spot. Go to their website and look at all the options. I highly recommend the world war II tour in the Pacific. Just went to it two days ago and it was fantastic.
If you're deeply involved in Warcraft it would take more than 3 hours, also add extra time if you want to enjoy all the amenities
The line for "Women in space, zero gravity" with 10 people ahead of you could take 50 minutes, plus the 13 of the experience; almost the same for the how is like to work in the space. Both are located under the Enterprise Shuttle
When you're in the ship Captain deck and in the submarine one, you'll find veterans who gladly answer any question and you could spend a long time in there
There are two amenities with an extra charge, a flight simulator and the inside tour to the Concord, this one located at the end of the deck.
If it's a back pack or small bag, I think you can take it inside with you (as long as it clears their airport style security). If it's a larger bag, I am not sure if they have any space to hold those. Probably worth contacting them directly.
Wasn't too crowded but if you want to get in fast would recommend getting there slightly before opening time. (which is 10 am) also would recommend doing submarine first as queue can get a bit big but otherwise not too much queueing on a Sunday I think.
Yes there is a gift shop just before the exit which sells lots of great things from leather flying jackets, NASA jackets and space meals. Toys and games, models and sweets.
Yes I believe so...part of the exhibit (when we went) was outside. Inside, there are steps, but not many. You can always call them to be sure. Here is the website: https://m.intrepidmuseum.org
Stairs but you do have to go through a couple of watertight doors which means stepping through them. You do have to prove you can do this before entering the sub in the entrance building.
I don't remember seeing a sign for free entrance, but they do offer discounted entrance fees to children and Veterans. They may also discount for senior citizens.
Yes it is part of the musues. See the submarine because it does not take too much time, and has a human experience to it. I would suggest the Intrepid aircraft itself because it combines most of what you would be interested in. Choose carefully which parts of the Aircraft you go to if you have limited time --- the navigator when you enter the Aircraft will help you prioritize.
Also, prebook your tickets online if you want to save time in the queue. Also choose weekdays, and low holiday times.
Depends on what you are interested in. This can be an all day experience like we had or half day. It is up to you. Perhaps you should plan for an all day experience and see how you go.
You might want to go to a professional with them. Nobody can tell you what something is worth without seeing the objects, and especially....on google maps
There are about 35 planes/aircraft on the flight deck, including the concorde, but still plenty to see inside the 7 deck ship. I loved the anchor room the best!
Today schedule The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum today announced the new temporary exhibition, Ports of Call, which is now open in the Intrepid Museum’s hangar deck.
Intrepid’s missions took the ship and crew to cities around the globe—Cannes and Copenhagen, Halifax and Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. At each port of call, 3,000 crew members fanned out to explore local tourist attractions, historic sites, souvenir shops, restaurants and bars. These adventures left lasting impressions on Intrepid’s crew members, most of whom had never traveled outside the United States. After each deployment, sailors regaled their families with stories of faraway places. Decades later, these same men and their families entrusted their souvenirs to the Intrepid Museum.
NY Waterway operates a ferry from Hoboken, NJ (14th Street) and Weehawken, NJ at Port Imperial Ferry Terminal and at Lincoln Harbor located at the Sheraton Suites on Harbor Blvd. in Weehawken, NJ. In just 8 minutes, the ferry takes you across the Hudson River to 39th and 12th Avenue, walking distance from the Intrepid. Parking is conveniently available at the lot adjacent to Port Imperial Ferry Terminal and in a nearby parking garage for the Hoboken ferry. NY Waterway Ferry departs every 15-20 minutes during peak hours.
Mostly yes, it has elevators, but there are some areas like the control tower where you would have to carry it, and you won't be able to do the submarine tour either, but 90% of it is stroller friendly.
Can I get into any of the jets? Do any of them still fly?
Ross Cluver | Sep 30, 2017
Leandro P. | Sep 30, 2017
No, you cannot get into jets. The only one, but it's a separate tour, is the Concorde that is not over the Intrepid but at a side in the pier and has a separate charge to visit it.
Yes you can, but you will have limited access to the exhibit, it's a ship which makes it kinda tight from the inside ... Still you can go to the upper deck, museum and also the space shuttle museum
