Un freaking real. The water was low this time and the temps were high but it was still well worth it! We did 30.5 miles. Bring good shoes and SUNSCREEN.

The BNR is a gorgeous place, perfect for hiking, backpacking, kayaking, etc. I hiked 17 miles of the Buffalo River Trail, saw lots of beautiful views, historic cemeteries and old homesteads.

Such a beautiful even magical place to visit especially after a big snowstorm. Whitiker Point, Lost Vally trail are absolutely gorgeous.

The experience of just seeing this view was breathtaking! The water color was unbelievable! The turquoise color from the melted snow, made the view worth stopping..

Yes, like so many have said, but I would recommend water shoes. The rocks on most of the river are too big to comfortably walk on, too uneven and the current just a little too strong for flip flops (I broke mine) or tennis shoes (my husband said it was uncomfortable). It was still fun tho, and recommend it!!
The Buffalo River is only for canoes and kayaks and floats. Not a lake.
You can pay for a return shuttle to your car, a drop off of your boats and a have your car moved to the take out, or go any direction. There are several outfitters along the Buffalo River, so you will need to determine where you want to float first. Then all you do is call an outfitter and they will arrange any method you desire. Let me know what area and I can provide a recommendation.
As far as I know they are. Samson is a service dog he goes everywhere with me.
is free, just find the right place and you will enjoy. I hope you have fun.
Yes, you can
I plan on going this weekend
There are biking trails remember there are many different trails throughout Arkansas. I've seen trails for mountain biking.
It has several campsites and I think it's about 20 dollars a night
Steel creek
Depends on the county they were arrested in. Usually they take them to the county sheriff dept.
It depends on if they are on the upper river or lower river I would check the towns closest to which you all was. Or check with a park ranger some where they would possibly know where they will be held.
Yes Lost valley, JB outpost, many places that have cabins
Depends on how much water there is. After a rain would be fun and easier to travel the water.
There are private sites throughout the area that are open, if the state/national parks are not yet open. Checking Recreation.gov should indicate what's available.
Yes
Those are very solitary animals. Few and far between. Best bet would be a zoo or Turpentine Creek in Eureka. I have seen some in Madison county but not when I've been in the Buffalo area.
Pretty fast in some places
We went through Buffalo River Float Service and rented float equipment. We then camped riverside wherever it looked like a good spot. A lot of the river you can camp riverside since it is a national park.
If you have your own draft I believe it doesn't cost anything unless you don't have one and then you have to rent one and then you would have to either have somebody to pick you up or pay for somebody to pick you up
Too many to mention. For every skill level, handicapped also. The Buffalo River Trail goes right down the gut, while shorter trails in and around the region are real gems themselves. Start with Lost Valley Trail near Ponca in the Upper Buffalo River valley.
To rent from Buffalo Outdoor Center it is $65 per day for 1 canoe.
I don't know the river is rugged camping where you want, but I am sure there are camp grounds nearby. Whenever I have been there people are camped up on random bluffs etc with tents.
Like Christina said Hemmed In Hollow is the tallest in the midwest, at the upper end of the Buffalo River!
Inflatables like tubes and rafts are fine. As Christina above refers to, however, I would limit them to spring and early summer while the water is higher. Whereas you can always portage easy other times, scraping bottom may be hard on inflatables. While the Buffalo is not necessary a "white water" river, it can get a little rapid at times and may run you aground. Be sure your raft/tube is a sturdy one.
Ask National Park Services
That's a Yes and no! Some of the camp grounds do some don't. Here's a link that can help you find the one that will suit your needs best! The best if luck to you! P.s. it's so beautiful there you will love it😍 https://www.nps.gov/buff/planyourvisit/camping.htm
The lower Buffalo River is full of smallmouth. I caught half a dozen pounders and up last November. You can free camp anywhere along the banks of the Buffalo. If you desire a campground, just Google Buffalo National Forest camping.
Actually I think you can camp individually in some national park and forest areas as long as you don't erect any permanent structures
I'm not sure where or what they are called but i think there's a few campgrounds along the river. Should be able to park at any of those.
There is a shop in Jasper that has gifts, local crafts, and books. It's run by Newton County Historical Society.
You can always call the park services or Wild Bill's canoe rental, they should be able to tell you. When we were there in June Wild Bill's let us know the best place to put in for the water levels & we only had to get out & pull our canoe 1 time.
Yes there are quite a few in different areas of the park. Some may require reservations especially for RV's. If tent camping there are white few walk-ins
Buffalo Bill's is where we went $60 I believe. But there are a few places to choose from in the area.
no ...CARRY ALONG one approved vest for everyone in the boat.
Water level was low about a week ago. We plan to bring our 6 yr old with us in couple of weeks. We didn't fish so not sure about the fish biting.
Yes its low. Tyler bend on down is probably ok. Chance of rain this week. So river could get a little more water. Check river level at. Buffalo National River
Yes you are allowed to float at no charge
Youll catch some small bass.
By the way its set up and normally nice campers, i dont see why not. Congratulations....
