Great organization, but staff seems overworked and it can be very hard to get in touch with the office without going in person (and even then you'll likely be given another time to return). I think if the city put more into organizations like this, more could be done to really help the homeless.

I brought a housing packet to Lauren May that expired, She passed it off to someone that just started there! She left out a section and hacked it up!! then when you talk to the supervisor she starts screaming! They are a incompetent staff who should just pass out blankets!! Lauren May is the worst!

Come to the CAG meetings on every Tues at 5pm on the fourth floor. Its an support group for homeless issues by coalition staff and volunteers who are in similar situations. There are people there of all races. Theres food and drink as well
Hello Henry am currently homeless and pregnant I do work but it's not enough to get my own space I've been to path and was found ineligible would you happen to be renting?
Dept of Health 311 if gas/conEd
You have to prove you are a couple and be domestically partnered which CFTH can help with. You will have to go to Bellevue to be placed from there
They give you false information
Yes there are for singles, single parents with their kids. Couples with no kids. Married with kids. So there are shelters for every one according their needs. KEEP SEARCHING, DON'T GIVE UP!👍
@ Juanita Huggins That is INCORRECT! the CORRECT time to come in is 7:30am to sign up for services at the security desk and come back at 8:55am, A case worker will come down off the elevator from the 4th floor and start calling names off the list. Crisis Intervention program *Intake Hours* Monday, Tuesday,Thursday 9am to 2pm or the first 50 clients (which ever comes first) Wednesdays and Fridays 9am to 11am or the first 30 clients (which ever comes first)
yes you can did they call donations
Generally a year or 2 .. I used to work for the DOH
On rare occasions they have spaces on the list after 9. You can call and see. But much, much better to be there by 8. Once you are on the mailing address, you don't have to come at 8, yea!
Monday morning go get a case manager at the coalition. They will document it to Dhs. And no reprisals to you. If they try to make life unbearable the staff will stick up for you I am in close contact with the top inspector for Callahan in shelters Every tuesday night they have a CAG meeting at 5 pm I been going there for years. I .a m housed and keep going for everyone's support Soon to be a shelter inspector myself all people in shelters deserve respect as a human Shelter staff looses sight that they are a paycheck away from being homeless. And at CAG Meetings you li earn your rights and the laws Governing the shelter system Dhs has rules But most important NYS HAS LAWS that staff neglect !!!
Coalition crisis unit helps with evexctions and helps people in need at shelters. They do not find apts but give you a list of brokers CAG is homless and formerly homeless come together to educate people on calahan laws There rights in shelter and how to pass along information to people in shelter as well. As protests in housing political activists ! I never heard of then helping working people find housing ! They help guide you to programs you may be eligible for like link or other housing programs as well as advocate for goverment subsides for those in dire need of help !
When a shelter doesnt provide air conditioning it is usually recommended that u go spend your day in a "cooling shelter" which is what they call a library or some senior centers where u can go and relax from 10 am to 6pm. They will also tell u about the parks and recreation centers that have pools and cooling rooms to hang out at. Wow! I feel for u and I hope that u can find relief from this record breaking heat. I experienced it in a shelter before therefore i know what it's like. Be strong!
Camba is a death trap
You need to go to PATH in the Bronx and they would screen your situation.
You have to go in yourself and see what they can assist you with. Best of luck...
Maybe she can check out Women In Need. They provide shelter to single women with babies.
Hello they are open 24/7 regardless of holiday
Two other people say yes so you should go up there and speak to someone. Make sure you show up by 8am to put your name on the list so you won't be waiting forever. Best of luck..
Path is for families. Go in separate. There is no Callahan for couples. Separate and meet up daily. At food soup kitchens. And make cag meeting s. 5 pm every Tuesday. All are welcome. But go in am to make complaints and discuss you problems with a case manager. Can meetings are to listen on solutions and meet other homeless and Former Homless People. God bless
Yes, but like April Meadows said you to go in the office and speak to someone there about it.
They have to tell you why you was denied and time to get necessary paper work to prove your side
If you want to see a case manager, they only take the first 50 people between the hours of 9 - 11. You should make it there by 8:00 to wait in line for a better chance of getting seen.
They are open 24/7 that why it call path to help you get in a shelter but most likely they will work on your case but your be sent to a motel or a room for the weekend
Come down to the coalition for the homeless 129 Fulton Street NYC NY 10038
No
No I haven’t I right now renting a room for 200 a week. It sucks where we at all we need some to lead us on right path. No kids
Agreed I've been homeless since March and nobody cares about people
Go to the shelter
The only services that are available in person as of now are mail and o believe they give out clothes
Try the dhs administrator
I'm not quite if they are seeing anyone as of yet but the city is open back up to at least 50% capacity but I think whomever can see them by appointment only
Call 311
NY is supposed to take care of the homeless instead homelessness is a financial franchise this is why homeless people or people with no housing can get a place the longer they keepkeep you in a shelter the more money they make from welfare that's why they don't want to help nobody because the city is going broke and are using every means necessary to make money off of things including homeless people who have obviously nothing to do with their financial spending crisis
Its closed to the public and the employees are remotely working from home.. They only allow you to pick up ur mail with restricted days and hours..
I was told by someone that was there on friday that they would be. But that was friday and since this weekend things might have changed.
You get the voucher from the city after going thru the shelter,
No they dont help for ID and for nothing you have to have some one you know there because I asked for help and I still waiting in have been a year and I still in a shelter that is not good where Iam at it have been suicide and people dying like flies and HRA AND DHS ARE NOT DOING NOTHING AND I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR TRANSFER AND NOTHING SO DONT ASKED FOR HELP DO IT YOURSELF
Bring all/any financial documents, and show documentation that you been seekidocumentationother agencies.
Yes go and see what they can do to help you.
Go to DHS headquarters at 33 Beaver St and 129 Fulton St coilition for the homeless mayb they can answer ur questions
If ur from Chicago then u have to find out the address of Vital Records in Chicago an request ur birth certificate & how much it will cost u
That is not true Tell them to bring all his documents like birth certificate and social security eviction notice etc or a letter from the place that they were staying explained the situation that why they can't stay there and have them get married or legal paper that said that they are partners and they can't separate them at all. That is the law and what they they give them Shelter and send them in to another Shelter but first they have to have a legal paper proving that they are married it is called Domestic Partnership and they provide that with all the documents and they can not separate them so first get all the documents and go back again but do it fast
Go to the Coalition for the homeless and tell him your situation and they will handle all of that they will put him and his son in a shelter family shelter for both of them and they can help him from there but he has to go in and talk to them
Ok
They don't help for nothing unless you have you know someone there
You have to go down to 129 fulton and tell them your story face to face. Try to get the names of everybody involved so that you can end the abuse of power that is going on in your situation. From what I read that was wrong what they did and heads need to roll.
129 Fulton St Manhattan downtown take 4, 5 , 2 , 3 , R , J , A n C trains Stop is Fulton St
Nope, it has to go thru DHS intake....
The coalition for the homeless will help you or you could even go to 33 beaver street they can also help you with your situation.
They help u everyone situation is different
I don't know you have to go and they will guide you to the right place
U have to go through a process through a processing center , & to go into the shelter AS a couple u either have to b legally married or have a Domestic Partnership which cost like $30 to get , the Adult Processing Center is locate on the east side , First Ave & 30th St , just google adult processing center for the correct address
That i dont know u would have to go down there to find out my brother
It depends , everyone situation different but mostly till u find an apt
They can advocate for you
I don't know go coalition for homeless
No
They are not gonna make it easy or have pity on you that's how it is they look beneath you and treat you worse then a prisoner and talk to you all nasty but if your desperate you just gonna have to take it..huh its worse when you in a shelter and all the document you travel to provide and they miss place it or lose it and make it sound you never provide it. They make sure you will never want to return again.
Coalition does NOT put and/or assist you into housing while its DHS responsibility to put you into the shelter system by going to intake on 30 Street off 1 Avenue around from Bellevue Hospital. Once you in the shelter system, at the assigned shelter they have social workers to assist you in landing housing while the Coalition can only advocate you as regards to housing & other matters but they do NOT get or place you into housing....DHS does so through their General Population housing lottery & the others means in landing housing is getting the CityFHEPS voucher via Riseboro Community Partnership or if you are lucky enough to somehow score Section 8 which is administered by either NYCHA or NYCHPD. At the end of the day, you have to fend for yourself on housing & all the sources I mentioned are to help you in landing housing.
What kind of stupid idiotic question is that...??? Its actually DHS that makes the final determination on bedpasses to begin with.
No..it has to be single with kids and if a couple with kids have to provide there was domestic violance on both and it's not easy you have to have court proof and order of protection and the family is at risk.
Absolutely no - its not the Dept of Vital Records !
You'll most likely have to go to HRA and apply for the one shot deal cash assistance.
They will help as long as you have an order to show to court papers, they will help you to stop an eviction; they representing you in court and ask for more time if you need it. Since you are working they will ask for Paystubs, teach you how to manage your budget, and provide you with a letter stating they will help you with an Incentive of $1,000 Max. This letter will help you obtain assistance from Charities. It did help me. DON'T GIVE UP!👍
I'm not too sure but you can always call or go there to find out.
Tues at 5pm. 4th floor. The Client Advisory Group (CAG) meets to help with questions like that.
Go to Coalition for the Homeless after you are in the shelter tonight. They can guide you to the best way to get services.
I dont know😐
Yes they're probably going to close early so you should call first if they tell you regular hours and I would suggest you get there by 8:30 a.m.
It's always best to go str8 to the shelter instead of staying elsewhere n then going to the shelter. Makes the process much harder to get in the shelter. You should be able to ask for a conference or fair hearing to contest paths decision, but you have to do it within the timeframe on ur decision letter...hope this helps
Call 311 and make a complaint and get a complaint number and take that and Go down to the coalition for the homeless at 129 fulton street 4th floor they have lawyers and activist that can help you go Be on line before 9am.be alot of people .ask for crisis prevention.
File grievances with Coalition & see the DHS Ombudsman office....
If you go down there you can get a mailing address and when your there get a case manager Your case manager will help you thru the turmoil of your.shelter stay The place is not a shelter but a resource. Center. There is also a weekly CAG Meeting at 5pm CAG stands for client advisory board Every Tuesday at 5pm former and current residents of shelter meet To learn there rights living in shelter A small snack and assistance getting back to where you stay is provided. As well as respect and dignity restored when you leave Learn the in and outs of the shelter system learn how to get housing quicker and participate in signature as well as political drives and rallies
I'm on only familiar with the one on 129 Fulton street Manhattan
Not a medical facility. Hospital is nearby. Explain to caseworker your health problems. They will not turn you away
You can request a tranfer but must have a reason like health issue or mental issue documents must
Anyone who answers the phone can transfer you to a supervisor
Solely if you are homeless or terminally ill; such as AIDS or cancer... If you work do "NOT" even waste your time, applying for assistance...
its a traing program for women who are getting back in the workforce they help in training you in microsoft word microsoft excel powerpoint outlook resumes then they are preparing you for internship at different companies
Yes. They helped with mine. U gotta get there early tho. Good luck
You have to be licensed as married or you need to be in a certified domestic partnership. In both cases u will need proof.
Thats right, they will help you get your papers, without them, you will not get anything
Yes,you can.Ms garcia was very helpful to me.They are very serious about helping people. If you are not serious about getting help,it will not work for you.
Call 311 tell them you need to make a complaint about a shelter
She asked for advice on getting a place, not her relationship you bozo's.
Because it's supposed to be open homelessness don't stop because it's a holiday
No matter what your journey starts with path
You'll be referred to HUMAN RESOURCES ADMIN., for light bill payment and they should take care of bill immediately if a TURN-OFF notice is presented. Thank you
The best thing to do is to go to the dept of labor or the coalation of the homeless id u about to become homeless they have a work program there n it also help n prevent u from being homeless try them good luck

What paper work you need
As far as i know they aren't capable of doing anything to help the Homeless people
Yes you can!!! And Good Luck!!!
You need to talk to a social worker you are entitle to a furniture voucher
At Brooklyn Bridge are the 4, 5, and 6 trains. Take the 4 or 5 downtown to Fulton Street stop. That's just 1 stop down. From Chinatown you can take the J train on Canal Street going downtown for 2 stops.
They will help with transportation
No question
Well, they still have to assess your needs regardless of any prior infraction, especially with the disability, if in NEW YORK CITY, try the BRONX family assessment center, you may be placed same day in a temporary shelter, pending final determination, thank you
